Posted: 2/5/2006 10:05:54 PM | | Jr's a great driver there's no doubt about that, but his old man could do things with a car that would just boggle your mind, also there probably isn't another driver on the circuit who has more pressure put on him to perform whether it's indirectly or direct. i also spoke at length with one of the local track photographers that also hits select cup races and he said that Jr. is the nicest guy you'd ever want to meet and went above and beyond what his fans expected, Tony stewart can be a bit of a prick sometimes but is also an incredibly nice person. All these drivers have so many demands from sponsors, their team, the media and charities that they all impress the hell out of me, even #24. | |

I have to stand behind Jr...and always will and I wasnt a jumper......I've followed him since he started his busch career. I have to admit Tony is my second favourite and was happy for him last year, afterall they are best friends and once Jr knew he was out of the chase he was there to help Tony when and if he could.
I didnt read all 9 pages of the posts but would like to say, if you have a chance to read his book .....do it....its definately worth it....and it is available in hard cover, thats what I have.
I flew to NC from Canada for my first live race and what an amazing experience, then went to DEI and of course checked out Jr's house across the road and luck would have it we got to see him come home.....it was his birthday weekend (October race) and he pulled into his driveway, stopped at the mailbox, picked up the cards, gifts and balloons people had left for him :). Got some great pictures.
As for his racing, he's not his Dad, he's Jr. But he has confirmed that he will drive the #3 car in the future (so nascar.com says). He had a rough year last year and the TEAM made some bad decisions. Look at the year before, he overcame alot and showed that he was a fighter and a team player. Even though he was suffering from major burns on his body, he was still in that race car, even if it was only for a few laps, he kept going until he couldnt take the pain any longer. He gives it his all and he always has time for his fans and wont let them down.
This is a new season, he has his pit crew back, he has a new team mate that he has mentored and has a great relationship with, the bickering with Waltrip is over with so its all good from here.
Saturday starts a great week.......the shoot out, the duals, then daytona....
