Don't sail any unkown waters right now. It's not friendly out there. It might actually cause you to mourn the loss of your ex longer, when you realize what's out there and available.
And, don't let it linger. Write down your emotions. Keep a journal. Then, revisit it once a week. You'll see just how quickly you bounce back.
Time heals all wounds (Once again, my cliche-ness comes out.) but, you can sure help it along by facing your pain. | |

(What they did to hurt me in order to move on to greener pastures)
That doesn't mean that the hurt and yearning to return to them isn't there. It just helps me remember why we broke up in the first place and why it will continue to not work if I go back.

It's all going to take time. From yet another guy who knows what you're talking about. You can try sailing away, you can try stranding yourself on some deserted island, you can try giving yourself an icepick lobotomy (or giving the ex the same, although this is generally frowned upon), but in the end, it's just going to take time.
I would advise you not worry about finding the love of your life right now. Concentrate on just being yourself in the interest of meeting real people you can call friends. I'm sure you've got that feeling every so often that says "**** everyone else. I don't care what they think. The just don't understand." Well, use this to your advantage! Get out there and do what makes YOU happy. It's easy to let your guard down and be yourself when you don't give a shit what anyone else thinks.
Be sincere in all your dealings with others and make sure to use this whole situation as a learning experience. Everything happens for a reason - to put you in the right place, at the right time, and in the right frame of mind. So long as you are real, karma will reward you handsomely imo. | |
