Is getting a tattoo when you are older lame? Is it a cry for attention or a grab at long lost youth?

My tatt is in a spot (LOW lower back) that nobody sees unless I want them to see it. I've never, ever heard anyone say a negative thing about it...especially from men, even very conservative men. They flip me over and the dear boys behave as if they've struck gold!

Posted: 8/23/2005 7:29:32 AM | I got 6 tattoo's (soon to be 8) and body piercing. Some ppl have like found it a complete turn off when they realise and others don't care. I personally love body art and find it attractive but I know what u mean about removing them I don't fancy that although one of mine I don't like hows about getting them covered over. It was all the rage when I was younger to get skulls n daggers with blood n ppl's names etc. But maybe u could get sum nice black tribal looking stuff plain but does the job. Besides I dated a tattooist once and he says the laser treatment to remove them doesn't always work properly. Hope u find a solution

Posted: 8/23/2005 1:19:23 PM | I have about 13-14 Tattooes and I Designed all of Them myself since I'm a visual Artist.I get nothing but compliments on "My" tattooes.Some look like Warriors and metaphorical-Panthers & Spiked-Moons but they probably "Do" look "TAME" compared to yours Plus I started getting Tattooes at 37y.o. and I'm 41y.o. Now ?!?!?...........So I waited a LONG time ,plus i never thought I'd be a person that would wind up with a lot of Tattooes on me.
I think if you get to really know someone they'll "Accept" you for who you "are".Maybe you can get "Additions" added on to your Tattooes to make them look less-Threatening { or made into something else}? just a suggestion. | |

Tattoos to me are a choice of experssion and art work.
All my tattoos mean something to me from my
Jack skeleton on the top of my left foot for the love of Tim Burton and Jack!
To my Raven wings on my back....I have taken the Raven as a spirtal totem. It helps me release dark things from my past..
So tattoos can help ppl with alot of diffrent things even those that get flashs which I personally think is a waist of skin but they them selves have thier reasons for getting them.
Cann't wait to add more to my canvas.

but i have one....its 2 blue stars and a yellow star on my left big toe.....its so faded though, if you ever get a tattoo on your toe, lemme warn you, it will hurt like a b!tch, and you'll haveta get it re-done often | |

The pain of the tatt wasn't 1-100000000 of the pain i went through after loosing him but I now know I have an angle on my shoulder now and forever. The only type of tattoos that bother me are the ones with some flavour of the weeks name. No guy/girl that shared your bed is worth marking your body up for life.... UNLESS in memory of them (I think) but then again thats just my opinion. My father had many tattoos and his only regret he had with his were the ones he got below the albow towards his hands. | |

It's all part of my self expression and my style. I honestly don't care what others think cause I get tattoos for myself not others. Each person has their own opinion tho.
