But they also play 80's, 90's and today's rock. Frankly a lot of the newer rock sucks. I prefer mostly the classic. When I was in S. FL I had two classic rock stations to listen to. One from W. Palm and the other from Miami.

Bad shit gives keeps being played, over, and over, and over again.
I have xm. And I so love Beyond Jazz.

As mentioned above, satellite radio is a great option. Commercial free music is always good. Not to mention choice of genre. It was common in the Trucking industry for some time; I think it is very cool it is becoming so wide spread.
Although, some local stations can be entertaining, can't deny it, I enjoy listening to the DJ's interactions.

| Is it me, or does radio suck these days? Posted: 2/21/2006 8:13:10 AM | I agree, college and public funded radio stations are the best if you want to hear new music and music that does not get a lot of air play on commerical radio | |

| Is it me, or does radio suck these days? Posted: 2/21/2006 1:02:59 PM | | picked up XM last month and haven't listened to anything else since! The best thing about it is all of the "new" music I'm being exposed to. No way would I hear it on commercial radio. | |

At least these days we have greater choice, it's never in any point in history been easier to get what you want.
And you have to admit it's kinda cool that the media of choise these days is the file, not a disc or tape or vinyl.
It's what you make it I guess.

Posted: 3/25/2006 6:02:01 AM | | i have niether but ive been listening to sirius thru downloads off of p2p programs just to get a taste and id say that sirius is the better choice. xm is already starting to put commercials on some of thier channels. baaaaad! anyway, if you hate radio as i do then satellite radio is the way to go in the future. i cant wait to get mine!

Posted: 3/26/2006 10:15:28 PM | | i couldn't say for sure, but i really don't think the dj has much to do with what is being played. aren't there programming managers now? it is my understanding that this is why it is difficult to get new music (unsigned bands) heard on the radio. i really know nothing about the radio industry..... maybe someone that does will read this thread and enlighten us. or perhaps someone already has but i responded before reading the entire thread *shrugs* go figure.

I hate my local radio stations. I didn't mind it so much when I was living in Calgary for a while (CJAY 92 was pretty good at the time). As for now I only listen to my own music. The only way I'll be listening to radio anytime soon is if I'm forced to because it's played at my place of employment.
CJAY sucks now too! All they play is 54-40 (even though they've done nothing lately), The Trews & Sam Roberts ALL DAY LONG!!!!!
|
| Is it me, or does radio suck these days? Posted: 5/13/2006 1:12:38 PM | | radio sucks badly. Top 40 is the worst of all not to mention the worst music being made right now. They all play the same stuff over and over again and not just top 40 radio either. Classic rock insists on playing the same tired Led Zeppelin songs over again and why must they play the awful Eagles. Oldies radio is a tragedy. They never play anything that was made prior to the Beatles and they mostly play 70's stuff like Fleetwood Mac, Bachman Turner Overdrive and The Doobie Brothers that stuff dont belong on an oldies station | |

| Is it me, or does radio suck these days? Posted: 5/13/2006 7:07:02 PM | Yes radio do suck and myself as a indie artist thanx guys they do play the same crap every hour Hey the record label pay to play so us indie guys and new artist never get heard on those stations | |
