| Why are older women scared about dating younger men? Posted: 4/30/2006 7:39:52 PM | Its not that we are scared....Its just that MOST of the time..We need more substance!! ( I know thats the case with me anyway)
It is very hard to find that in a younger man. They look nice but it gets boring quickly!!
Plus......"It doesnt matter how good someone looks..there is always someone out there that has had to put up with thier shit."... I dont want that someone to be me!!

| Why are older women scared about dating younger men? Posted: 4/30/2006 7:47:43 PM | | I don't think there's anything wrong with going out with someone younger, but my limit would be 10 years younger. It is always nice to go out with someone that has common interests as yourself & someone you can talk to as well. Also, I wouldn't want to be out on a date with someone that looks like my son. This is just my opinion & everyone is different & has a right to their own feelings. | |

| Why are older women scared about dating younger men? Posted: 4/30/2006 7:51:36 PM | My thought, Sometimes young men approach me and I think...they can only want, Me, to have sex with. There is some saying..."You know what they say about sex with older women?'...Well..No one would ever tell me. I personally feel "my body" cannot compare with someone the admirer's own age and I feel self-conscious about my body. And I work out, I'm fit and look pretty good (with my clothes on...heh heh) for my age. I can't compete with the young bods, whom I assume they will eventually end up with. I am at a point where I want some who wants to hang out with me for a while, I'm just not into a relationship that only invoves sex. Only one person should have to endure it...heh heh. Jokingly Serious. | |

| Why are older women scared about dating younger men? Posted: 4/30/2006 7:55:52 PM | | I have a limit of 10 yrs. I cant imaging going to bed with a guy just out of school. I am 40 and finding dating a guy 40 or over hard, but I dont see a problem with dating someone 30 plus, why is that, well it has something to the fact younger guys are always interested in sex, no hang ups and seem to be more forward with me. Apart from the niceties, 30+ guy has peaked reached maturity, is interesting and intelligent which is a big turn on, anything below that and they are just learning. | |

| Why are older women scared about dating younger men? Posted: 4/30/2006 8:44:26 PM | I have no problem with younger men either. My last long-term relationship was with a man who is 13 years younger than me. We lived together for three years, and if not for him developing a "mean drunk" streak, would still be in that relationship. I admit...I like younger men more mostly because I am alot younger thinking than most my age. I would die before I spent an eternity in front of the tv (well..unless it is the music channels on) like so many men my age want to do. I like the new music, the dancing and fun stuff. I like to go out and do things...keep busy, you know? I do not want a man who can't keep up to me in any way. Now mind you, if you can show me a guy older who thinks young, then that would be ok too. Guess it boils down to personality more than age really. If you click, you click and that can help overcome any "obstacle" in the way of a great relationship. Hugs Judy | |

| Why are older women scared about dating younger men? Posted: 4/30/2006 9:17:48 PM | It's a bit of a double standard if you ask me...I mean it's ok for a 150 year old man to have a nice young thing by his side pumping his oxygen tank while she balks about how much she loves him.....Yet the minute an older women goes out with a younger guy, it's frowned upon. Society has conditioned some of us to think that it's ok for a MAN to do as he wishes even if it means getting rid of his wife or companion of umpteenth years to be with somene younger....all because what.....he is in denial that his cranky ass is getting old?
My question is when all the older viagra poppin men run after the lil young ladies...what are the older mature women supposed to do......knit....bake cookies....throw garden parties...sit around and talk about the good old days.....I say screw that....hell I say screw a young man instead.......two if you feel up to it and besides they could probably use the sexual education because most of these younger guys haven't got a clue when it comes to giving a woman complete and utter sexual gratification........and I'm talking bout go tell it on the mountain kinda gratification......hell make that scream it from the cliffs of Mount Olympus.....make Zues say HOLLA.....LOL
If Stella can get her groove on so can older women all over the place and they all don't need to go to Jamaica to get it either........
** Now being only 27 I don't exactly consider myself an older woman although by some standards I guess I would be...whatever ..................but if the opportunity came up to date a younger guy.....uhm hello.....I'm there...wait a minute....been there....done that....got the t-shirt and we're still great friends......BooYah!

| Why are older women scared about dating younger men? Posted: 5/1/2006 1:32:46 AM | there seems to be a trend amongst early 20-somethings...the girls want older men, and the boys want older women. seems to work out well for all parties i think.
some people seem to take this type of thing as an ego blow...geez people, at any age it's about attitude. work on yourself first and people will become drawn to you...if you're convinced no one wants you, no one will. that applies whether you're 20, 30, etc.

| Why are older women scared about dating younger men? Posted: 6/7/2006 3:12:57 PM | screw the garden parties! strange how things flip about, when i was a young girl, i dated men older than me- now that i'm over 40, i date men younger than me- tho the older ones ask alot. no one MY AGE ever asks me.... except for once, and i was foolish enough to marry him and keep him for a bit.... i like the young ones because they don't mind the way i dress, that my nose is pierced, that i listen (and love) all "that damnned noise they call music these days".... but i do worry because they are more fertile (that's a myth, tho, right? please?) ...and my mum caught preg. with me in her forties, and was i ever the unexpected one.... that was NOT DONE back in the day- the old ones... i feel like i always have to 'behave' around them. that i am being fake if i act younger than 'acting my age'. that i'm showing my irresponsibility- yet these are the same age difference of fellows i could count on to sneak me into bars when i was a teenager... they were hot, back then... now they just wanna golf. in plaid pants. and watch tennis on tv. ew. and eat country-fried meat with meat sauce. steppford husbands. | |

| Why are older women scared about dating younger men? Posted: 6/7/2006 3:28:11 PM | Eh whatever.
Generalisation is dangerous - personally I find the OP's statement offensive; my ex b/f is 6 years younger than me and before that I dated a guy 5 years younger than me.
-.-
Shouldn't ASSUME.

Wishing you good fishing! ~Mai *^_^*

| Why are older women scared about dating younger men? Posted: 6/7/2006 3:42:56 PM | | I don't know why older women would be scared about dating younger men. I've always dated younger men and prefer only younger. Age is only a number, it's about connection and enjoying life. Older men lose their zest for fun (among other things)..... Last relationship was with a guy 20 years younger.... its not all age its maturity there are some guys in their 20's way more mature than a guy in his 40's. You got to look past the age thing and look at the person. | |

| Why are older women scared about dating younger men? Posted: 6/7/2006 3:57:30 PM | | I've always dated someone younger than me (most of my long term relationships) because I've always looked younger than my age.....but at my age now (43) I'm finding I want someone to be with for the long run..hopefully forever..so I want someone who has the most in common with me besides just sex. Also...alot of guys younger than me want to still have children..and I don't! | |

| Why are older women scared about dating younger men? Posted: 6/7/2006 4:00:08 PM | I think my biggest worry would be them falling in love and my breaking their hearts...younger men are less experienced with love and loss. I don't have that much experience with them...well a bit...but I find so many these days wanting to be taught how to be better lovers...it's one hell of a clever pick up line! lol... | |

| Why are older women scared about dating younger men? Posted: 6/7/2006 4:46:42 PM | | Not scared darling...I could handle any age...just common sense. You only have your looks for so long...they fade....the interest would go with it. There is only so much you can talk about if the age difference is too big. Also, you have to consider that you are on different paths in your life. ie; my children are grown and I have freedom now to do as I choose. Most men below the age of 45 have younger kids still at home...been there..done that. I love kids but it would mean taking a step backwards. Lets face it..the main reason younger men want to date older women is for the sexual experience we have...it is a conquest for them. Personally, I am at the point in my life where I no longer wish to be a conquest but an equal partner with something in common with the man I am with. | |

Can't imagine a 50 year old woman with an 18 year old 'kid', what would you talk about? OH YEAH, you wouldn't be talking!!
I am 49 and I could think of all kinds of things to talk about with an 18 year old kid, but the other that you are suggesting would just be horrible. I would feel like a child molestor. That is just a really nasty thought!!!

| Why are older women scared about dating younger men? Posted: 6/7/2006 5:56:32 PM | Hello Mr. Lion, are you also a Leo? I am a very energetic, youthful, sensual and slim and fit woman who has always had younger men in my life. My last relationship lasted 8 years and he was 12 years younger. But he was very mature and made much more money than I did and was very generous with it. It was a very rewarding relationship. My great relationship before him lasted for 12 years and he was 19 years younger. We were very much in love and both of these guys are still very good friends with me and call me often. In fact I am looking forward to meeting someone younger ASAP. | |

| Why are older women scared about dating younger men? Posted: 6/7/2006 10:16:37 PM | | I think scared is not the best word to use where there is a large age gap between participants. Its more like practical. While I dated mostly older men before I married so many years ago in 1980, I have dated far more younger me since I divorced over 18 years ago. I figure if my divorce papers are older than they are, or they are too near my sons age, or emotional developement at 25 then I'd be more of a mommy fixation or enabler to their emotional need to replace their maternal figure. I still have dated far more who were 5-13 years younger than I than guys my own age or more that a couple of years older. My biggest concern though is as I get older, and gravity takes over even more completely than it does at this age, then he'd maybe be desirous of scoping out my competition as a replacement, or praying for my crossing over sooner to keep himself from feeling guilty for wanting someone nearer his own age. Growing up I knew a couple who were involved in ministry who were 15 years apart in age with the woman being the 15 years older, and relationally they couldn't have been more perfect for one another, and they worked happily together in Christian ministry for many many years. I myself have had plenty of time alone to think about it, since I have dated one guy briefly in 10 years, and I dated that guys for only about four months before I found out his alter ego personality, and saw how he treated others not close to him really poorly. At this stage of my life I'm 48 I would be seeking a lasting permanent someone for that growing-old-with kind of marital relationship rather than being a mere temporary, do-fer-now, emotional bandaid for someone who was extremely needy to the point of it being dependent-based. Some older men I have met have more often been more nurturing, and were even more willing to walk in the role of traditional provider for the homefront as was common years ago- some that I have met have had extreme control issues though. A few of the younger guys that I've met who in my case wanted to be more like my dependent than someone living in a real life marriage relationship. Younger guys do keep life interesting, and I really do enjoy the younger guys perspective on a lot of things. I believe at my age 48 that even though I think younger than I am chronologically, I still have the more traditional Christian values that are more often found in more mature women except that I am still somewhat liberal, hence; I have a strong Christian value system, and yet I voted for someone other than Bush which is the guy most Christians voted for. I also have to take in to consideration that I can not ever have any more babies, and I'm really not looking to start diapers totally all over again except for grandkids, if I met the right guy who had a 2 year old, it would not be a what would stop my interest in a LTR with him if it were a forever kind of relationship, and would not hinder me from being able to work in Christian Ministry at the same time as many couples do. My youngest is now 17, so most guys do prefer a woman who can give them their own kids at some point that could become an issue I suppose. I get quite a lot of email from guys who are much younger than me, and in the past a few have lied about the age differences, but for all of the reasons stated above I have tend to intentionally keep it at a max of 5 years over and no more than 15 years younger- which is between the ages of 33-53 as I am most attracted to that age group. | |

| Why are older women scared about dating younger men? Posted: 6/8/2006 9:26:59 AM | Younger men = Less mature therefore = Mind games, Older women /= mind games, this Older women + Younger men = All the wrong mind games in all the wrong times.
But me myself, I love older women so I feel the pain of trying to hook up w/ them when you know 90% of the odds are against you.

You know like a new toy - a boy toy. So that's where that expression comes from!! LOL. You have to have a few more years then that on you if your going to be my man.
