| My therory on big guys(no not talking about his*****) Posted: 10/26/2005 1:40:32 PM | Just as not all guys dislike large women, not all women dislike large men. While there is some truth to the "evolutionary advantage" theory, you can turn it around. Fat = access to lots of food resources = excellent provider. Setting that aside, many women like "Teddy-bear" guys -- tall and big. They make us feel "petite" and "protected."
I mentioned to my housemate the other day that I also like "skinny" guys and she looked at me like I was insane. My tastes range all over the place -- skinny, teddy bear, musclebound, shaved head, long hair, goatees. While I might be intrigued (or turned off) by a picture, it really is personality that makes me want to hang around.

| My therory on big guys(no not talking about his*****) Posted: 10/27/2005 11:26:52 AM | I find that the guys who are always viewed as a "brother" have personality traits in common but not body types. About the only physical attribute I've seen in common is a "baby face."
You say you worked as a bouncer -- perhaps this indicates a protective attitude towards women that they pick up on. Being protective is a good thing but may wind up influencing the "role" female acquaintances assign to you. Also, being muscular and extra-big & tall, I wouldn't be surprised if *most* people view you as a "big brother" type. Guys will assume that you can beat them up if they step out of line, and girls assume that you can & will protect them.
Dang it, I'd go out with you in a heartbeat if it weren't for the smoking thing. Assuming, of course, that I were your type of girl. You're just up the road from me and you sound excellent. Dang it.
BTW, before I get trounced by other posters, the No Smoking thing really ISN'T a personal inditement. I have a severe allergy and don't enjoy ending my dates with trips to the Emergency Room for breathing treatments! Again, I say, Dang it!

| My therory on big guys(no not talking about his*****) Posted: 10/27/2005 11:30:48 AM | Speaking as a guy who is "fit", yet still has a larger build including a gut, I would say that women are entitled to be as picky as they want to be when it comes to choosing the guy they want to be with.....come on.....us guys are just as picky if not even more... | |

| My therory on big guys(no not talking about his*****) Posted: 11/2/2005 11:49:36 AM | () WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!!! There is nothing wrong with being in shape or not in shape - just say so....men have a different definition of fit then women do....men figure if they can run a block they are fit.....NOT!!! | |

| My therory on big guys(no not talking about his*****) Posted: 11/2/2005 12:36:03 PM | {{Jimb77(if a person can't take care of their body, did they take care of anything else? it is sign of laziness. I mean a few lbs. over the years is normal, I am talking about a blob or blobess.}}
I am so sure that the some 20 doctors I have seen in my 38 years would agree with you about that. NOT!!!
First off let me say this. The stereotypical attitude of some one like this is what really pizzes me off. How dare anyone assume everyone is over weight because that are lazy and do not take care of themselves. It is totally far from the truth.
I myself and a large man. Not by choice and sure as hell not because I am lazy. I am way far from it. I work my ass off and can lift over half my own body weight. (Standard Physical Education Standards) I eat once a day and it is barely more then a light lunch more often then not. And constantly get harassed by family and friends for not eating. I have tried diet pills. Gyms. Diet plans, Medical diets. You name it. I have been there. My weight problem is only a problem to those narrow minded few that assume I am lazy and do not care. To those who give to squats to find out who I am. The soon realize I have a genetic issue. And that my so-called problem lay within my DNA. And there is no reversing it. I was 13 pounds 7 ounces at birth. And by the time I was 13 I weighed 250. Funny how people assume you’re just a fat lazy teen until you join the high school football team and are mowing their kids down like an irate freight train. It took me an hour to convince the coach to even let me try out. Once on the field he soon saw. I was “fat” and mean as snot. I am very muscular. My thighs alone are as big as some people’s waists. And solid. I worked within the police dept. for 17 years and had to pass physicals. I still spend my extra time off working on my sister’s farm. In short form.. Some of us are not lazy and do care a lot about our selves. However we do suffer medical reasons for our affliction and to me screw it. I am a funny witty hell of a person who knows compassion and romance. And will easily whip the hell out of the usual smart ass that comes up to me at a bar because he wants to fight and show off for some girl. It’s nice to see them when they lay there on the ground embarrassed because the fat guy just knocked them out. It’s just as bad as losing to a girl. LOL
I do apologize for my lack of tact here. I usual hold a much better form of posting but a lot of the posts to this thread I have read point fingers a fat slovenly blobs.. And it just merks my waters that people always seem to just assume because some ones fat they did it to themselves.
And some of the greatest comedians of our time were and are fat. Oliver Hardy, Costello, John Baluche, Sam Kinesin, John Candy, Chris Farley, Sedrick the Entertainer. Why? It’s our way to push down the harshness that others inflict upon us. People around me push me to doing standup. I don’t have the desire. However I know I do make them laugh hysterically. And the reason for it is. Its better to make them laugh at your jokes and silliness then have them laugh at your expense.

| My therory on big guys(no not talking about his*****) Posted: 11/2/2005 12:54:42 PM | Repo Man, you took the words right out of my fingers (I guess that's the way to put it).
I'm not a skinny girl by any stretch of the imagination. But I take 3 fitness classes a week (2 pilates & aerobic and one line dancing). I can advance line-dance for hours. 3 hours at a time on occasion. I walk regularly (speed walk - I do walking marathons here and there). I am in no way not fit. I could run circles around a skinny cousin of mine, but weigh almost double her body weight (she is one tiny little thing). I do not diet. I eat right (or try) and exercise as much as possible. I am me. I'm a good looking girl, not everyone's taste, but hey, do I care? no!
I like a big man. I think I'm going to break someone tiny. But this is not to say that I haven't dated men that are both much smaller and shorter than me. I'm more about the person, and as I've said before, what I find to be attractive may not be conventional anyway. We're all different and we all have differents tastes, what's good for one may not be good for the next, plain and simple!

| My therory on big guys(no not talking about his*****) Posted: 11/2/2005 3:45:03 PM | Thanks Harmony .
I have spent my life fighting this type of ridicule and assumption. And yes it does tend to fry my bum. I think it is funny how some one referenced the primal psycie.. When if you are actualy a history buff and look at art and drawings of the years past. Fat was in and it was considered a social exceptence. Lets remind ourselves of the great Kings of England. And how about the last time you were at the museum. Look at the painting by the greats. Devinci , Moenea , Other masters of the Beroque period who were considered the greats for their attention to detail (Alot of their posers were fat) .
Yes there are obese people. Yes there are some who would rather eat themselves to death than go out and do something physical. They are not fit. That is true.,
But why always assume the worst? If some one had actualy taken the time to get to know Chris Farley or John Baluchi they may not have turned to drugs and hookers to excape the lonelyness of being fat .

| My therory on big guys(no not talking about his*****) Posted: 11/3/2005 10:43:52 PM | I have a gut.....I look about 8 months pregnant..it's very firm too. If it ever turns out....to be an actual child, I'll be totally blown away by such a miracle! The bad part would be..I haven't had any sex in 2 1/2 years..........so, I wouldn't have a clue as to who the father would be!
Is this a dream?,.................Or am I actually writing this? Oh dear, I need another drink!

| My therory on big guys(no not talking about his*****) Posted: 11/3/2005 10:53:08 PM | | I love big men, I always have since I was a young girl, most of my boyfriends were large. As long as they take care of themselves, hygene wise, and take pride in what they look like and walk with confidence and wear nice cologn, I'm impressed. I like feeling like I'm protected in a set of big arms and the hugs, aww man, they are like no other. | |

| My therory on big guys(no not talking about his*****) Posted: 12/1/2005 7:45:31 PM | Good for you, Repo Man!
It really rips me when people assume anything at all about a person that they do not know. It happens all the time. I'm still trying to figure out how fat equals lazy! That is ridiculous.

| My therory on big guys(no not talking about his*****) Posted: 12/1/2005 7:57:15 PM | | Everybody has their own prefrence. It's not healthy most times to be a plus size. I do go to the gym all the time but if you want to stay fit and look atheletic, then there is no problem in doing that. There are guys and girls there that are in the late 40's and 50's and they look better then most guys and girls in their 20's. If you marry somebody fit and thin, then there is no reason why they should physiaclly change, unless they get comfortable with the other and decidse to let themselves go. Medical problems is understandable. Now on the same note, I have seen in my area, allot of attractive women with plus size guys so I think it just comes down to personal prefrence and if the tought of attractive women not interested in plus size guys, well then do something about it and get fit. If you are happy with the way you are then who cares what they prefer. | |

| My therory on big guys(no not talking about his*****) Posted: 12/3/2005 1:54:08 AM | | It's not just about looks, but lifestyle. I want to run, not walk, with my guy beside me. Too thin isn't my thing, either... I like a fit man that will be with me for a very long time. Obesity is such an avoidable cause of death, and I worry for some of my very overweight friends, since diabetes came into their lives mainly due to their poor diet. | |

| My therory on big guys(no not talking about his*****) Posted: 5/27/2006 9:57:31 PM | Though I had a crush on John Candy when I was growing up (a great sense of humour goes a long way), I have yet to meet a big man I find sexy in the real world. Not a prejudice, nor an attempt at rudeness, it just is what it is. Taking it one step further, if the man I married started gaining weight, I would start doing more physical activities with him to ensure he stayed relatively fit (IMO, it is unfair to one's partner to let oneself "go"...You may still love the person, but be turned off sexually by their appearance. It happens, unfortunately.) On the flip side, however, there certainly are women that don't care about esthetics/have a sense of esthetics whereby big is beautiful. | |

| My therory on big guys(no not talking about his*****) Posted: 5/27/2006 11:42:32 PM | One piece of advice often bandied about among the guys is, if you want to see what she looks like when she's forty look at her mum.
The same advice should definitely be bandied abut among the girls.

| My therory on big guys(no not talking about his*****) Posted: 5/28/2006 1:24:39 PM | I prefer big men, but not grossly obese. And by grossly obese I mean more than 100 lbs overweight. I like a gut, I like someone big and strong. I have no problems with it at all.
edit:
One piece of advice often bandied about among the guys is, if you want to see what she looks like when she's forty look at her mum.
Sparticuss, that isn't true. I look NOTHING like my mom did at 40. My client yesterday was trying to guess my age and put me at late 20s. Most people do. I rock!
