i saw that, too. (damm) funny stuff - well, to some (with a sense of humor & who "get it").

i don't think the point was - does alcohol kill more people than drugs. alcohol obviously kills more people cuz it's out there so much more (& this is "legal" death, too). it was just that someone said they thought alcohol was more dangerous than any illegal drunk & some begged to differ.

over use (abuse) of either doesn't turn out too great for anyone involved, but it's something most people have to learn for themselves, or not.

on a related subject: isn't it amazing how "society norms/thinking" change so much in a relatively short period of time? i can remember 15 years ago, country taverns used to serve people "one for the road" all the time.

Yeah, the times they are a changing.... Drastically... THough, I am still hung on the whole drinking and driving... It USED to be that most had a drink or two and that was it... The real issue is getting totally swished then thinking that even though you are incapable of forming to coherent words, walking a straight line or other simple tasks that you can successfully navigate and pilot 2000lbs plus of steel... not real bright...

Dragon: I like your posts. I wasn't dissing you back then. It was the post before that. I guess we were typing at the same time.

I started this string to see what folks had to say about the "drug thing" in the profile. I wasn't looking on a discourse of the evils of substance abuse or what some boast in public about doing while abusing said substances.

RandyYeo - No harm, thank you for liking my posts... I was simply attempting to keep things lite... since they seemed to be taking a dark turn... unfortunately, the liveliest subjects are the ones that take unanticipated turns... I just took exception to what was said... I probably should have ignored it, but it rankled a bit... my apologies...

Again, it wasn't you. It was the guy who got all drunked up and took on a guys in a bar then the cops. I just can't figure out that attitude, let alone why one would choose to post in in a public forum.

No apologies needed. You sound like a good guy; the kind of guy it would be a pleasure to sit down with and chew the fat.

I am no pro on alcoholism but it is my belief that it only assists what is inside to come out. I have done my fair share of drinking and them some. Never have I felt the need to strike another person.
Glad to hear you are sober. I hope life is better through clear eyes.

I do not do illegal drugs - and I stand firmly against them, however, I do not see marijuana as a "drug." I believe it should be legallized in the US. It is already legal here in Arizona by prescription for asthmatics. It's an herb. Nonetheless, I do not want to be with someone that makes a habit out of smoking pot. I do not smoke pot, but am not against it specifically for the benefits it provides as a treatment for cancer, asthma, etc.

Will I pass up someone who puts in their profile "yes"---absolutely. If someone has "Prefer not to say"---I ask. If someone smokes pot once or twice a year socially, big-whoop-dee-doo. I rather ask than assume. Those that drink more than socially, 3+ times a week...I will pass up.

well - there's a joke that goes around up north here (& dragon, you must know about wisconsin) - it's about a guy getting in his car & driving, using the excuse - "well, i sure as hell couldn't walk!"

only it's not really a joke. so times, they aren't a changin' for everyone.

hmmm...where do i stand. when i was a younger lad of 14, i liked to smoke alot of pot. then one day a few years later i just stopped and got back to somewhat normal! pot has its uses. somepeople think it is all bad, and others think it is all good. i guess it is just like everything else. good in moderation!

Joel Crytzer, 63, was charged with marijuana possession in November in Butler, Pa., when officers spotted some on the floor of his car, which they had stopped because Crytzer had been cruising down the road, seemingly oblivious of the fact that his car had only three tires.
