If you want a good book to learn theory get The Jazz Theory Book by Mark Levine. It's over 500 pages and is the best book I've found thus far.

Hey all
I got this nice little program that I use to help people learn (old and young) and it is about the best and easiest Ive seen..Its called Electric Guitar Coach....if you have friends that want to learn to play, get them to get that program, its good and they wont quit playing.
I have been teaching kids for a while now and after I saw that, made life a heck of a lot easier..also many things on scales avail, but this is a good start

I like orange and white, or orange and black.. you don't see that to often.

Also electric blue and silver.

Always candy apple red..

Some of them colors you see on the coppers would be interesting.

I think something like the old dodge cars back in the 70s.. one color with a stripe across the back.

pics my friend.. pics.. we must simply have pics. I can't wait to see the pics!

Do you do the paint yourself? And if so .. What kind of paint? testers model paint doesn’t stick well.. \

I am assuming you spray it with a gun? Also what kind of clear coat do you use..any custom graphics?

Maybe the big fish could have you do a pof guitar for at the get together or to raffle off

hey jimi

GEAR ALERT
THE NEW JOE SATRIANI SIGNATURE AMP

WOW !!!!!
EVERYONE MUST TRY IT
(I think I willl sell my mesa boogie Triaxis for this one)

jimi
yes i paint the guitars
I have a spray booth and 3 industrial guns
I spray nitro celleous laquer
and poly urathane( 2 part like epoxy)

painting guitars is very similiar to painting cars
you do your coats
you let it cure the you buff it out
to a shine

I even got a book by a guy who does the craziest guitar paint jobs
with krylon spray paint.......................home depot

the secret to painting is your clear coat
thin layers
patiences

Ok, ya'll will probably think I'm stupid but here goes,,,I want to know if there is any way I can put my guitar licks in an mp3 file, directly from my amp. Do I need to record them first on some other device? Or can I use a line/out or output from my amp? As always, help and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Also, about painting guitars,,,saw a really cool paint scheme on a guitar the other day...it was so weird---the color was a light rose shade with "cracks"--hard to describe, but it was kind of like the cracks that appear in the finish of really old guitars,,,except that the "cracks" didnt follow the wood grain,,more of a random pattern,,,will try to get a pic of it and post it. And no,,,I wasn't on "crack" at the time--lol.

stevens

I am getting the head
cause I currently own many speaker cabinets
2x12,4x12,1x12.................etc
so i need no more speakers

but the combo does offer a reverb and half power switch so it depends on the consumer
combo are pigs to move though .......wieght/size

dudes try one of these out they are the coolest head ever(for about $1000us)

Mp3 right for the amp ..............................

nope
got to record them first then convert to the mp3 format

Well, there's nothing like moving air into a mic.

I recorded the following two amp demo clips in '99 or '00 in the kitchen of my amp tech in Montreal (both took about 15 min. each, due to overdubs), using a prototype 1.3 watt tube amp, no effects or reverb nothing between the guitar and amp but a cable, the amp was mic-ed with a Shure SM-82 which was plugged straight into a PC soundcard via a phantom power/transformer box. All sounds were as played no mixing, eq, or effects added, I believe the recording software was Cool Edit LE.

Roland V-Drums were direct to sound card as was the Roland guitar synth in the second track (Hammond sounds). The fretless bass parts were recorded with the same mic, but through an Ampeg V4.

I played all intruments and composed the tunes "on the fly", no click track, no loops, no midi.

http://homepage.mac.com/ewald/.Music/Jivin'_The_Five.mp3

They're VERY sloppy and unmixed, but don't sound too bad for "throw away" demos.

These were recorded to show how great this little 1.3 watt amp sounded.

Get a cheap mic like a Shure SM57, a great "starter" mic, very cheap, found in any studio, .....home or pro.

Thanks Late,,I had considered using a mic, and I'm pretty sure that would be the way to go. I just want to get some stuff recorded. Had an idea that maybe I could do it by going directly to the computer from the amp through the mic jack. I'll try the mic and let you know how it goes,, thanks again!

JAX
here is my 2 cents...............

on the cheap a sm 57 is great
If you have a "phantom powered mixer "
get a condenser mic............my affordable fav is a audio technica 3035 $149 us

it is easier to get a sound then a sm 57
it has a much larger "sweet spot"
a sm 57 is the old standby I used it for years got tired of trying to get an accurate
sound
because a sm 57 is sooooooo focused
MOVING THE MIC AN INCH WILL DRASTICALLY EFFECT THE SOUND

an
audio technica 3035 is a condenser mic you can pretty much just put it in front of the amp and you are ready to go

and DI is tough
you can get a good sound but you need the right gear

I haven't tried the Audio Technica, but my taste in mics has gotten pretty steep the last few years.

I mostly use a $5000 Lawson...... at the recording studio where I work (no it's not mine, ..I wish).

I will agree though, condenser mics are best, ...as long as they're good ones.
