| THE GUITAR PLAYER'S THREAD Posted: 8/15/2005 9:00:09 PM | Joe Satriani is my favorite all time.
But Hendrix, Page, Van Halen, and many more can rock the house.
And Angus Young may not be the most talented but keeps turning out a lot a great riffs.

eric clapton is to robotic and he plays the way he does due to robert crays influence on him. The rest of the people you have up there are jokes, in my opinion
What the hell are you basing your opinions on man...I think you just like to argue for no good reason. What the hell does "robotic" mean as far as guitar playing goes? And I've got news for you man...EVERY guitar player plays the way they do because of other's influence. You can't say that Clapton isn't that good because Cray did it first...that's rediculous.
Yes Page may have been a little sloppy...but he was a master...don't believe me? you better go out and buy the LED ZEPPELIN DVD and watch "White Summer"
Stevie Ray a joke? REDICULOUS! Listen to his version of Hendrix's "Little Wing" and tell me he's a joke....
Duane Allman a joke? HAHAHAAA actually it's pretty funny you think he's a joke...do yourself a favor and go pick up The Allman Brothers At Fillmore East and tell me he's a joke...it's one of the best live albums of ALL TIME!
Educate yourself before you throw out those opinions....

| THE GUITAR PLAYER'S THREAD Posted: 9/1/2005 12:46:39 AM | | Anybody have any preferances for some good acoustic amps? middle of the road prices.... | |
|
| THE GUITAR PLAYER'S THREAD Posted: 9/8/2005 3:43:25 PM | the last 3 jeff beck albums are ground breaking stuff too. Jeff Beck is so good ]I get ill.really amazing stuff that cd where he did the surf music and then on from there. He also did some work with Seal that was hot.He is part of the reason i do not use a guitar pic much anymore. | |

| THE GUITAR PLAYER'S THREAD Posted: 9/8/2005 4:21:51 PM | ....heh heh, ......what do you use for the lows?
I did a bass gig with a Brazilian "Show Band", (3 Mexicans, a Jamaican and two white guys, LOL!)
The acoustic player used a passport with a nylon string guitar, .......I wanted to kill him, it sounded so bad.
....o'course it was probably mostly a lack of "dial in" on his part, ....I can't imagine though, wanting to sound that bad.

| THE GUITAR PLAYER'S THREAD Posted: 9/8/2005 8:17:42 PM | I just ordered another digitech 2101 tube pre-amp /signal processor in purple chrome -the deluxe model !! I am pretty stoked !!! | |

| THE GUITAR PLAYER'S THREAD Posted: 9/8/2005 9:11:07 PM | Eric Johnson, the king of tone and guitar is the number one guitar player of all time, no one can play as well as him. He takes the skills and styles of some of history's best, the songwriting skills of Jimi Hendrix with the speed and skill of Wes Montgomery combined with the chicken pickin style of Chuck Berry.
Wrong thread, the "guitar fan" thread is HERE

| THE GUITAR PLAYER'S THREAD Posted: 9/9/2005 1:23:21 AM | Eric Johnson is very skilled
He cannot in my opinon be classified as all time best because he is missing one very important thing
"coolnest factor"
his stuff is too "pg"
not enough of a bad ass ie hendrix, vai, van halen.....etc
|
| THE GUITAR PLAYER'S THREAD Posted: 9/9/2005 1:30:48 AM | yes ,this should be more of a gear thread ....I think a place for people to reccomend stuff -pedals -amps -guitars -videos
I want to offer a place for the real gearheads to chat and for future gearheads to "save time" by getting good advice

|
| THE GUITAR PLAYER'S THREAD Posted: 9/9/2005 2:01:27 PM | I met Mark in the '90s, ....by then he was playing a Parker Fly, .......or a PRS, ....or a Strat, ..or a.........
Mark Farner is one of those guys that probably picks up what ever is closest to him and sounds like Mark Farner.
I do know that back in the '60s-'70s he used to use the rather obscure "Micro-Frets" guitar, which pre-dated all the later developments in nut/intonation gizmos.
|
| THE GUITAR PLAYER'S THREAD Posted: 9/9/2005 3:34:01 PM | fujian guy

|
| THE GUITAR PLAYER'S THREAD Posted: 9/9/2005 4:14:36 PM | | I think Mark and band did a reunion tour ten years ago called "Bosnia Tour." At that time Peter Frampton joined the original group on a second guitar. Perhaps they were not as tight as on the 70's albums, but still good. | |

.........and promise to always use ONLY tube amps, ..LOL!
Speaking of tubes, .....I picked up an old Harmon Kardon monoblock with pristine Telefunken EL 84s, ....just amazing, what a difference in my '65 Gibson GA-15 RVT, ....no wonder these tubes often fetch up to $100 a pair, ..even used.
The HK was $5 at a flea market.........
