I never saw the tokyo g3
so I cannot comment

steve vai live at astoria dvd is cool

I have Steve Vai's concert at the Astoria on DVD, it is something spectacular. Now there is a man who can play serious guitar. There is some great stuff on there, and I like the stuff he did with Eric Sardinas near the end. Giant Balls of Gold is still my favourite song.

I seen it at motor city guitars.. in waterford michigan.. their a dive kind of place with tons of gear and rude sales people.. but they always have lots of nice guitars with nice paint jobs on them..so i check them out from time to time..

I seen a orange gibson les paul with white stripes running out of a circle...zack wild (sp?) .. but it was bad ass..

DIGITECH..SYNTH WAH..ENVELOPE FILTER... that i bought... pretty cool.. they have a demo on the digitech sight.

Steve Vai plays a triple neck guitar, one is a 12 string at the top, the middle is a 6 string and the bottom neck is a 6 string fretless, can be seen on G3 Live with Satch, Vai and Eric Johnson I believe.

HOW IS THE TRACKING .. its a little sensitive at first.. so you have to kind of pluck when you want the effect and strum light when you want to blend it in.. I am still playing with it a bit.. other then that if you pick it.. it responds quick and right on cue.

no i dident get a chance yet.. to plug in to a tube to many people in the store playing..

however at a hellloween party i was talking to the two guitar players of a local death metal band asking them question about them.. as one had solid state amp and the other a tube.. you guessed it.. both seen things differant LOL...

yea the 3 neck i seen as i said before... bottom... 6 sting.. mid 7 string... top 12 string.

I can find out the maker if you like.. that thing was HUGE! LOL.. I think this one listed for a grand tops.. but i am not possitive.

STEVENS
I like the name...

bumbox

2 very important things

JIMI77

the magic words
death metal

yes many detal metal guys like solid state cause when you play
REALLY loud
the bass will 'fart' less
ie
the response is tighter
so yes they will sometimes go that way.........

but for 90% of players tubes are better

I cannot believe you go to guitar shops and
NOT
plug in the cool boutique amps
seriously
go play a couple $2000 tube heads
and get back to me

LOL... everytime you go in there.. the amps are loaded with two kinds of people.. the fat kid with his mom telling him he is good and going to be a rock star..but he is holding the guitar upside down..

OR... the guy with the comb over and the beer belly playing good but looking for attention.

I will play on one.. but i will have to get there early before the rush hour.. 4 o clock and on...

hell i got one of the salesmen calling me to sell me stuff.??? strange..

What's the best tube amp in the lowest price range? Which one new AND used? The Fender Blues Jr.? Which is a good one if your goal is to try a lot of pedals?

Does anyone like Telecasters? Does it have to be American?

Acoustic guitar:
Seagull v.s. Ibanez/Yamaha/Epiphone (which one would you choose?)

Martin v.s. Taylor (which one would you choose?)

Hey Guy,s
Just a novice here, anyway I bought the book "The New Complete Guitarist" by Richard Chapman, as reccommended. Too much info for a new player to take in!!! Once I sorted out what to take in now and what to go back to later, it was helpful though. I've been playing for about 3 months now, taking lessons trying to do it right this time rather than getting discouraged and shoving the guitar in the closet. My 1st song I'm learning is "Stairway to Heaven" and it's blowing my mind how everything just comes together, how the notes harmonize and the completely different sounds that come out of the same chords! Blows my mind! I'm getting to the point where sometimes the guitar almost plays itself without my thinking on where to put my fingers, etc... Anyway...I'm hooked, it's a whole new world out there. Gotta love it!

stairway to heaven.....
YA'H MAN !!!
once you've master the song / groove....and you feel the energy that comes from playing that tune.....its very very gratifying!
back in the day when players had to know that song, all the music shops that had 12 strings guitar would be so tired of hearing guys playing stairway to heaven.....including me as well !
that song is so beautiful and it gets even better when you add your own licks/riffs.....

good stuff thier dude.....keep on practicing

What's the best tube amp in the lowest price range? Which one new AND used?

depends on you playing style......are you eric clapton or joe satriani?
each requires a different tone
I would suggest saving a bit of $$$$$$ and getting a good tube amp once
ie
invest in the good stuff and you can have it all your life......and love playing it all your life
instead of buying the absolute least expensive one and 'always wishing you had the mesa boogie, marshall etc'

buy the good one first -----keep it forever
(re-read above ------>very important lesson)
tube amps used market is awesome
but you want to try before you buy.......
ie
unless you are really tube amp savy maybe do not get one from ebay
but
ebay is a great place to check out the used tube amp market
they have everything including very boutique stuff

go on ebay and type in these searches.......and read and read some more

traynor (the old ones are better, the new one is pretty cool too)

peavey (the new peavey stuff is the best value hands down)
----->classic 50, 5150, 6505, jsx, xxx , penta

mesa boogie
triple rectifier, dual rectifier, mark 4 , blues angel

marshall
2000, jcm 800

The Fender Blues Jr.? i know very little about this amp
but it is probably too small
ie
it will not grow with you
(you maybe in your bedroom now........but in a year you are jamming with a band that amp is not loud enough .......better to get a little more amp than what you absolutely need)

Which is a good one if your goal is to try a lot of pedals?

a couple questions.......
what kinda style do you play?
who do you wish you sounded like?
why do you need lots of pedals?

answer the above and i will help..................

ps
i will answer all the questions below after my recording client leaves

"The New Complete Guitarist" by Richard Chapman

is a great reference book

meaning it will grow with you
it maybe too much right now but pick it up again in a year or two and you will see the value

dannyabe

buy the godin they are better and a better value
