my advice from experience, try the actual head you are gonna possibly buy
there are so many components in there that they can each sound different ,even the same model.

also if you are buying new, consider a local purchase....because you get a warrenty
IE
shipping back a head to get warranty work is a killer..........
or look at the used market in your area..........
really try/play through the head is important

also depending on your volume needs......,a 2X12,closedback separate cabinet maybe be a better choice, there are lots of companies on the internet that build/ship nice 2x12 cabinets w/celestion speakers etc
(here is one of them)

http://www.avatarspeakers.com/

4X12 cabs are the worst for moving to jams and gigs

What up guitar dawgs! Gman how come no new pics of the new beasts you’ve created? But it’s always good to see ya..

Question for one and all.. I got a lead on Jackson stealth HX its in near mint condition only some minor buckle scratches on the back.. Very minor! Comes with the hard shell case..
The guy is asking 300 bones.. Anyone got an idea of the price these things are going for.. I figured about 275 to 350.. But I know little about them.. It has the 3 humbuckers, 5 in one switch, blonde neck with the off set dots, two knobs, no locking nut or tremolo, bolt on neck, strings through body, and the color is dark wine red.. It’s most likely from 1995.

tell me not to buy it because i already got Fever the to buy it .

Thanks bro.. well the G.A.S must run in the family because my lil Cousin seems to have a case of the G.A.S. as well..he ambushed me and asked me about extra gear, trips to guitar center, and finding parts and goodies.. ohhh no! I’ve created a monster.

you know you can't fight the G.A.S once you get it in your head it eats at ya..

looking forward to the new pics.

I am a fan of 10's myself, a little more work but also more tone
the tele is a 25.5 scale neck,if your other guitars are 24 3/4
the same strings will feel tighter on the longer neck

solutions:
ya you could go 9's or D'Darrio makes 9.5's
OR
you could fight the 10 for 3 weeks and get used to them....cause you will get used to them.

stevie ray used 13's tuned down half a step

did a little test drive on some pedals tonight....huntin' for my birthday present....

tried out a boss and digitech bass overdrive pedals....I wasn't impressed....the boss sounded like weak fuzz superimposed over the actual tone of the bass....the digitech...even worse....just crap...

I wonder if it's even possible to get a nice gain similar to a good guitar amp with a bass pedal....might have to go with a chorus pedal or something.....

Thanks G M that explains alot to me about the difference in the scale of the neck would make the strings tighter,I had no idea they made 9.5 guage strings, thats a good idea of Diaddario,Thanks alot for the info

Al...I know a bass player who loves his big muff. You might want to try one of them too. Just a suggestion.

Guitarman-Looking forward to seeing pics of your most recent builds. Got any links to pics of other ones you've done?

Ibanez wins hands down...you obviously get what ya pay for....tried it along side the european Big Muff....muff was better than the boss and digi....but nowhere near the Ibanez.....

....although I'm still curious about the EBS...don't see any way I could try one first hand....dude at mothers says there's no distributor in Canada...would have to be special order....

btw...saw a Peavey delta blues and classic 30 there too....might hafta go back with mine strat....just to see what all the fuss is about....don't think I'd get rid of mine crap Vox though....cause you can't beat it for camping.....

....unless someone knows about a better sounding battery powered amp....

yes, those ibanez ts9 dx pedals are nice,I tipped off my bass player friend about it and he likes his a lot.........(he is the biggest twitchy tone freak I have ever met,his bass rig is frightening)
that pedal would also sound rightous infront of the peavey amps as abit of a clean boost

-I also got that bass player to buy a digitech 2101 off of ebay he uses that in his rig too

here are some video of his 2 piece band playing ,check out the huge tone
(these 2 guys were the rhythm section of my band when I was involved)

Ok gang ..need some feedback here on Rivera Amps ? Have been looking on line for a new working amp ... The SuperChamp is retiring to my living room . lol The Rivera I am interested in , is the Clubster 25 1 x 10 combo . I'm leaning towards this because it's " LITE " ... only 30 lbs ! I ain't getting any younger . lol Anyone have any experience with these amps ?

Hey hey, I play a Epi Les Paul Custom with a Peavey Studio Pro 60 watt amp. I use a Digitech Effects Processor, and a Fender pedal tuner. I've been playing for four years now.

I have a question for the more experienced players out there. I can play pretty fast now but I havent had much experience with music theory, so when it comes to improvising solos I'm always not sure where the "right" notes are on the fretboard. Should I memorize some scales? If so how will that help me?

Hey JackBNimble, check out the Fender Pro jr. All tube, about 20w but very loud. 1X10 speaker, line out, only a volume and a tone. EL84's, very un-Fender sound. It sounds WAY better than the crappy sounding (but well-selling) Deville/Deluxe series. That "Fat" switch should be relabeled: "Mud". Push this little wonder w/ a Big Muff or DS-1 for killer tone. Love mine.

Hey Strange days ..thanks for the heads up on the Fender . I'll check it out . I haven't heard anything bad about the Riveras so far ... good sign ..lol Hey happy .. you can make "wrong" notes work for you ... just play'em with " authority" ... they can become your style and personna . Music is subjective ... who decides what's wrong and what's right ? lol Rock on !

yes ,dude get some basic scale patterns down on the neck
-it will give you more confidence when you are' making a leap' in a solo
that you will land on a strong note
-it will help tie the fretboard together

* learn the 5 positions of the minor pentatonic scale
*learn the 7 positions of the major scale in any key on the neck

-get this video.......

as for scales...I find I have more confidence just strictly using my ears...though I did start out with patterns that laid some decent groundwork....I find my listening skills are much better....knowing the individual notes is much better than knowing patterns....it takes a lot of practice and improv to develop the skill......

....look up the Learning to Play Guitar thread...Late posted a page that will have you understanding how scales work, and it gets you listening for proper intervals instead of just running through memorized patterns.....

yo G-Man....been drooling over the Warmoth direct site lately....hmmmm Pau Ferro fretless fingerboard
....pretty reasonable compared to what some of the RI vintage Fender necks are going for on ebay.....

....my Squire DESPERATELY needs a good setup....

yes the warmoth stuff is pretty good!!!!!!

if you lived closer we I could get your squier set up nice
watch warmoth on ebay too, with either though
you might have to re drill your neck holes and do a bunch of adjustments whenever you swap out a neck
