I wish I lived closer to you. I'd love to sit and converse. I'm def not a intelectual rather, a regular guy looking for someone to enjoy lifes dance with. I guess I'm dofferent from most...I don't play games. I like you, know what I want. It's a shame we'll probably never meet. I think we would get along great.

well sorry for being blunt but after reading your profile.i dont see where anyone would want a date with you
NaturesBlondy. (cannot comment directly to users..lol) It's an honor for me to absolutely, positvely and be in total agreement with the above quote. Just after the first paragraph the "B" word came to mind but halfway though that profile the "C" word was totally invisioned within my cranium.

At first I thought this "might" be sarcasm. After reading the profile where it came from I stand by my above comment......LOL....
My "Date" this weekend was treated to a wonderful day of kayaking, relaxing on the beach, swimming in the ocean and a very tasty Italian dinner in our quaint downtown. (Stuart) Freeloading my A$$.....  | |

I grew up within a J.A.P. family/community and I can honestly say that profile is way over the top even for the most outrageous J.A.P.....LOL.....
I say to this person:
You have determination, you WILL find the man you're looking for. Handsome, finacially stable, great father to your future children, fun to be around and he will be the most miserable man in the world being married to a woman as demanding and uncompromising as yourself......

I can also say I'm still friends with everyone I've met that was honest in their profiles and photos. To the ones playing the "ya, it's a current photo" game....No, I'm not your friend.....lol... | |

I did read several profiles on this thread, and after having read the following post forces me to rekindle the old dating economics thread....

This type of attitude is exactly why guys don't date that much... We tend to avoid women who after reading their date requirements it becomes clear we must address them by their “Pretty Pretty Princess” title of Your Highness...
To begin, nearly every single guy under 50 has some sort of child support issue and in some cases alimony as well. Whether it's in the form of actual CS payments, or assistance for a college age child, the commitment is still there and very real. He has the same costs for housing, transportation, food, etc., as the rest of the world, and to consider as a minimum, in order for him to be worthy of your presence, on a first meeting he must be willing to spring for:
Appetizers - $14 - $20
Before Dinner Drinks - $12 - $24
Entree - $40 - $60
After Dinner Drinks - $12 - $24
So before he even knows that the photo you posted is actually you and not you from a previous decade, or a photo of your daughter or neighbor, depending on the restaurant chosen, you expect him to commit between $90 and $140 (with tip), or else he's guilty of bad behavior? Considering that most people date twice a week, this would mean that any single guy would need in the neighborhood of $800 - $1200 per month in discretionary / entertainment budget just to maintain her interest, god forbid you should have to take her for a weekend excursion $$$$$$$$$.
I think someone needs to spend a little less time playing “mirror mirror on the wall” and get in touch with reality; nobody who could afford such an undertaking would bother because clearly she’s only interested in what you can give her, not what you offer as a human being, or even what she has to offer besides the pleasure of her company (remember, we haven’t even established she’s all that, let alone comes packaged with chips). My advice to anyone even considering this type of person as datable, rent a hooker, you get to pick them out before making a financial commitment, you don’t have to concern yourself with whether or not she finds you interesting, and you don’t have to worry about table manners…
Oh, I noticed she pointed out that a free site equates to freeloaders, did anyone else notice she has a profile on here as well? Pot to kettle, come in kettle!

Guys, have any of you actually had a woman show up and look even remotely like her pictures? I've hosted dozens of POF events with 100's of fishes at each event and I can tell you that less than 30% of the women even remotely resemble their photos.
Apparently our blonde friend hasn't paid for a trip to starbucks lately either... one of those drinks it takes 15 minutes to call out can run $7 to $8, add in a tasty treat and you've dropped $10 just on her "15 minute employee coffee break".

You're right... it takes around $1000 a month in disposable income to eat out twice a week and constantly be picking up the check and men who can afford that kind of cash spend it on women who look a whole lot better than our blonde friend and who would be a whole lot better company than her profile indicates she would be.
As to the OPs question. I've met lots of nice people on here but not anyone I have dated. Made tons of friends (both guys and gals) but so far thats all its been, just friends... but hope springs eternal! | |

Online dating can be a great way to make an initial connection, but with that, you have to be aware that there is also "risk". Your connection may not be the "person that they have created online". Emailing/IM and phone conversations give you exposure, but that doesn't necessarily equate to "truth". Use your best judgement, be willing to use reserve, set boundaries and "always be yourself" (your true self) in a casual atmosphere. I have not found the connection I am looking for. I have though acquired an education (whether desired or not) but I am not dissuaded or discouraged.
Anything is possible.

This is definitely one of the most AMUSING topics I have seen since I have been on POF! For what it is worth, these are my observations:
1.It is, indeed, a FREE SITE! SO - both Men & Women are not paying to be on this site! FACT.
2. It is NOT the site (POF) that is bad, lousy, (a few adjectives that I have read), etc.! A dating site (free or otherwise) is ONLY a vehicle to meet someone; ........................the rest is up to YOU!
3. A dating site is ONLY as good as the people who are members!
4. Use your common sense: Men, if the profile shows 80%flesh, or she refers to herelf as a 'princess', and you STILL ask her out.........you deserve what you get! Women, if the guy mentions 3x that he IS REALLY OVER HIS ex & that you don't REALLY have to love his Harley to have a relationship and you STILL go out with him.........you deserve what you get. (these are ONLY generalizations)
5. Yes, I know, there IS deception, fraud, lies, etc., on this site! However, with a little patience, intelligence and COMMON SENSE you can, for the most part, 'weed out the dead wood' before you get burned (& for the guys....BEFORE you spend a lot of money *grin*). Given a little time (before you jump) MOST people show their true colors. FIND OUT now before you leap!

Posted: 9/27/2008 9:41:30 PM | | hi everyone...i have not been on this site long enough to say, but i have met several women in person from other sites and wound up having long term relationships with two really great girls (at seperate times of course) one relationship lasted for over a year and a half the other for over six month. one a RN. the other a school teacher... so there are some great opportunities on line. i just wish women would speak up more if they are interested in someone. | |

Yep. By the time I had marked my first anniversary on here I thought it was me, then I switched over to another site (paid) and met 4 women for coffee in a week (took almost a year to get that on POF) and dated one of those for 8 months and she's still one of my best friends. Now, when I want a date I go look there. Yeah, I still have the occasional coffee date from here (up to 9 now) but they never go anywhere.

No, you certainly were NOT called that! I do not participate in this forum to insult ANYBODY! Those were only 'generalizations'. If you were offended, it was unintentional and I apologize.
However, I still believe that ANY site is only as good as the quality of the members! That being said, apparently you HAVE participated in a site whose members were more 'worthy' of your attention. Speaking from personal experience, I have participated in BOTH non-paying & paying-sites, and I have found them to be about the same! That is WHY I suggested that in the final analysis, it is up to YOU/US to exercise common sense! In any event, I wish you the BEST!!
