Posted: 3/5/2006 2:44:06 PM | I've not been here on POF too long but I definitely can relate to the problem of being too far away. I live in Key West and the nearest city is Miami, 150 miles away. Not too many women here in KW - except the party animal, drink every night, crazy kinds. 
It's a shame too. I'm way over my ex and definitely ready to move on and have a pretty squarely placed head on my shoulders, but not many opportunities have arisen. Oh well, I'll keep looking and maybe the perfect woman will find me. | |

As a single woman in the suburbs surrounded by married people, I have found it a wonderful way to meet great (and some not so great) men I never would have gotten to otherwise. That being said, every dating site has a different "vibe" as to the type of people it attracts and what they are looking for. Found the men I have gone out w/from here, much more interested in a drinking buddy, friend w/ benefits, etc...That's not a complaint. During periods of the last year, that is exactly what I needed to. In my personal experience, found the men on sites like match.com, etc...that focus more on compatibility are more interested in settling down,finding a girlfriend, etc.... So maybe it's not the fish, maybe you're just fishing in the wrong pond for what you're looking for You never know what tommorrow brings. | |

For some reason if you write to a man- he either doesn't write back (which is ok) or they give you the excuse they have met someone and want to see where it goes.
Can't you still write after you have met someone? Don't you want to meet as many people as possible to find the "right one"?
Or, they write once or twice then disappear?? Without a word.
I do have a few friends that have met the love of their life on another site or two- so it does work... BUT.....
Even the men misrepresent themselves- either saying they are open and honest and don't play games then turning around and doing that.
I guess you get it everywhere. Not just online.

EXCUSE ME--are you labeling me as someone who is playing games & who is dishonest when you haven't even talked to me on POF before? I just got through meeting a female currently on POF during a ferry cruise to Key West. She told me that she currently has a boyfriend; yet when I pull up the profile of people in my city, she still has her profile currently listed on POF. I am pissed off with women being dishonest to me & I don't want the same thing from you. I don't appreciate you judging me for something I am not, especially when you haven't seen me in person before. You are guilty of the same thing that you are complaining about.
You say you want men to give you a chance--why don't you be open, honest, sweet & nice to us men online & maybe you'll meet some guy who will give you a chance. | |

Just wondering, how have women misrepresented themselves to you? I can relate to the "poof" sudden blacking out they do with communication. And the irony is it's women who claim men are commitment shy.
I think everyone has a certain unique slant on themselves. For example, I think I'm tall, dark and ... well... two out of three ain't bad according to Meatloaf! Now some will say that I'm handsome (thanks Mom) and others may say "not so much..." So certain things like that are not really fodder for these types of conversations since they're purely subjective based on individual taste.
It's gross misrepresentation that I refer to and it comes from displaying a photo of your daughter (or son) as a representation of yourself (yes it did happen to me a few years ago). Or indicating you're "average" in build (and appear so from the neck up) but in reality sidewalks crack when you walk on them. Last year I met a girl from POF that was "average" NOT! I'm 6' 6" 275, or a what's known as a BMF.... this girls thighs were larger than both mine put together. That's not Average, or Curvy, nor a few extra pounds, that's plain and simple BBW (actually extremly overweight, but they don't list that option). I don't understand why people who seem to feel that real beauty is on the inside can't step up to the plate and simply say "I am an intelligent compassionate person wrapped up in this (insert realistic description here) body". As I say in my profile, there are just as many people attracted to large as small and the other third (like me) are attracted to somewhere in the middle. We all have a right to expect people to represent themselves honestly, and they have right to be attracted to whatever physical types they want. | |

I guess it truly is like fishing here, if you don't like whats on you line you can always throw it back and try for something better...LOL...I have found that most of the folks on the forum do seem to be really easy to talk to. One thing you can never have too many of is friends. I have met some that are nice and still keep in touch to do things with or go places with and some just out right stopped talking to me after meeting the first time. | |

Posted: 7/7/2006 9:37:13 PM | I have met several men from this site. All of them were very nice and treated me extremely well, very nice dates and good conversation. Unfortunately I haven't found "the prize catch" yet, but still write to two or three of them.
I met two guys from another site three years ago - when I lived on the West Coast - who turned into very good friends and still keep in touch with me by phone and mail.
However, I do agree with the fact that some men don't acknowledge an occasional email. But I figure if he is that inconsiderate, I really don't want to meet him anyway. There are POF. Keep | |

Posted: 7/14/2006 7:00:17 PM | I have only been on here for a week. Haven't met anyone yet but lots of bites. There are two invitations I'm looking seriously at for this weekend. I have been using personal ads for ten years. The experience is as fun as you make it. I have had a couple serious relationships from the ads. Two I still have as friends (no benefits anymore). Many I have as chat friends. I really can't say I have ever had a meeting/date that I regreted. Each one has taught me something about myself. I'm still optimistic about meeting the one but in the meantime gotta have some fun and why do it alone. | |
