I'd like Dave Mustaine back in Metallica. I think thats everyone's dream tho.
but, heres top 3:
1) Dave Mustaine 2) Alexi Laiho [as long as he still did Childen of Bodom on the side] =) 3) Karl Logan

Reply Talking about playing with a diversion ,I remember seeing Jake E lee playing a solo one time while doing a summer salt.
I would like to add Jake E lee to the list
Oh I just thought of someone else also. Vivian Cambel from Dio

| Best Guitarist of All time Posted: 12/18/2005 6:40:40 PM | Bireli, wow, my fave. Yes, he master more than one style. Heard "Move" yet? There's proof.
Just picked up the Gypsy Project dvd, it's something.
Along the same line, there's Martin Taylor too, to a point.

| Best Guitarist of All time Posted: 12/19/2005 1:25:49 PM | Joe Satriani will probably always be my fav. I bought a guitar the day after i heard him play.
My other fav guitarists are:
Vito Bratta (white lion) Victor Smolski (Rage) Michael Romeo (Symphony X) Tom Englund & Henrik Danhage (Evergrey) Paul Gilbert (Racer X) Steve Vai

| Best Guitarists of All time Posted: 12/21/2005 9:49:38 PM | | Replace Yngwie with Stevie Ray Vaughan and you have my list. Yngwie is a great technical player but no one can translate the sound of raindrops on a pane of glass into musical notes like Stevie. And Zakk Wylde is the consummate rock and roll performer. There's major passion and respect to past/fallen guitar heroes recorded on 'Live at Budokan'. | |

| Best Guitarist of All time Posted: 12/23/2005 6:26:42 PM | Basically, this idea of Joe Satriani being the best guitarist of all time was substantiated in one of those discography encyclopedias brought to my attention. It read that Satriani is "probably the best preserved guitarist of all time", meaning he can play his highly complex solos exactly the same way onstage as he does in the studio, what's more his music is attractive and his style multi-faceted to encompass rock, blues, heavy metal, techno (!) (Engines Of Creation, 2000). In my opinion, the best duo project possible right now in music is that of trancer Robert Miles and Joe Satriani. No offense to anybody here, but I simply can't agree that Steve Vai is better than Joe Satriani. I agree Vai has brought his 'saw' technique to a higher plane, but he simply doesn't produce BEAUTIFUL music. A lot of sophisticated technique, but I simply don't groove to Vai's music. Satriani is much much bigger as a musician. | |

I heart Tom Morello (RATM)
Tom Morello is definately one of the most creative guitarists ever...I read an interview with him that really opened my eyes as to how endless his imagination is....
I just think that it's sad that Audioslave is holding him back...I'd REALLY love to see Morello do a side project....

| Best Guitarist of All time Posted: 12/24/2005 12:50:36 PM | In my oppinion Jimi Hendrix is , of course the most innovative, the most original and the most unique guitarist-does that make him the greatest?well in my mind yes. He turned electric guitar into an instrument. As far as acustic goes Johny Lee Hooker-one string genius. | |

Yeah, the way he plays with the guitar on his lap gives him a unique sound to his solos, very different and cool.

| Best Guitarist of All time Posted: 12/26/2005 5:50:06 PM | | Do we have to pick just one? There are so many great guitar players with various styles, that it is hard to pick just one. Of course, Eddie Van Halen was a pioneer. Yngwie shreaded his way into our hearts, and I always liked Neal Schon. He is so melodic and smooth. Seriously, check out his solo stuff after Journey. | |
