I haven’t really followed him, but I’ve got a few CD’s and seen a few videos. Simply blew me away. Does he not do the two-hand tap stuff anymore? Are there others who do the lead over rhythm tapping stuff he does? I don’t know about anyone else.
There are a few that play "like" Jordan, a few that have taken it even further. He had international recognition by "in-the-know" players back in the early 80's when he was still a street musician in NY.
He still plays in the "way" that garnered him fame, ..I'm sure.
He did however have a brief foray into "standard" type playing in recent years, ....I did get to hear this and, frankly ......was very under-whelmed.
If you want to hear a guy that does the same thing (w/out tapping!!!!), check out Charlie Hunter.
That cat's a mofo.

Glen Campbell played on a ton of hit records from the Elvis to Frank Sinatra. Three great pickers who rose to fame in the D.C. area along with Danny Gatton: Link Wray Roy Clark Roy Buchanan And my sentimental favorite, the late, great Eddy Shaver from Waco, Texas. | |

| Best Guitarist of All time Posted: 3/12/2005 4:21:28 PM | | It does trouble me that only two people in this whole thread mention Trey Anastasio. I just don't think enough people in here have really listened to phish. If you grab a 1992 or 1993 live phish tape or CD, you'll have no choice but to call Trey the all-time greatest. From 1990 to 1998 he was unstoppable. Unfortunately I think many guitarists are better when they are younger. That energy they have and the urge to prove themselves. | |
