That was pure hell. Total dweeb, no sense of style, painfully shy brainiac. Had an undiagnosed neurological disorder that made me have tremors whenever under stress. This was the 60s, when there were no cool eyeglasses, so I wore the old lady styles, all that were available. Hung out with the uncool kids on the school paper and yearbook. Two of my best friends were the guys who played the flute and the sousaphone in the band, hardly school heroes - any surprise they turned out to be gay? (They are still my good friends by the way.)

Things got better senior year - contacts, medication for the tremors, a boyfriend from a different school ( my first younger man LOL)

I didn't make it back East for the last reunion in the fall, but it was reported to me that the guy who teased me the most remembered me - as one of the smartest people he had ever met.

Homecoming queen who hung out with the shop guys :P
Wasn't a popularity thing , though....it was a practical joke thing.....my friends wanted to force me into a frilly wedding cake dress (ugh)

I was lucky enough to grow up with the same group of kids from kindergarten....we all knew each other so well that popularity wasn't really an issue. And we were all poor farm kids all from the same small town, so there were no snobby rich kids to deal with. :)

Your life sounds like mine in a way pandora. I still live close to where I grew up and all of my friends are still around and are more like family than anything. I was smart enough to avoid dating the girls that I grew up with.

I was the same way stranger.....not that they weren't good guys, but once you've seen someone eat paste in 3rd grade, or seen 'em in spiderman pajamas .....it pretty much kills the romantic urge forever.

Metal-head. Hair down past my shoulders, ripped jeans & spandex, bandanas, concert t-shirts, smoked, drank, got banned from the school except when I had classes. Grew up in a small town and because of all the crap I did it made life hard for my little sister(21) and brother(22). Thank heavens I out-grew that phase.

Even though I hated high school...

I fit in with most everyone. Gawd I had so much energy back then.

I had spiked hair and wore a white t-shirt and a ripped jean jacket every darn day.
I worked full time and had a very cool motorcycle and a car.
I wrestled and played football.
I was in the drama and chess club.
Had the cutest girl friend ever.
I never got into trouble because I "never" got caught.
I drank, experimented and smoked funny stuff, I think I missed grade 11, not sure...

Total hippy. That was me. Although I was in the little hippy crowd, doing little hippe things (protesting wars, smokin weed, droppin acid and just being) I fit in with just about everyone. I made friends easily. I have lost tough with all of my High School buddies. Wow, that was a short little trip (no pun iintended) down memory lane!

I plead the fifth.

<---nominated as most likely to be dead and/or in jail. (I'm sure)

The fact that I shaped up in OAC to get into UNiversity blew my teachers n peers minds.

I sure was popular though!

I was a stage crafter (set design), loved drafting & was the only female in the room, fit with different clicks, but made none my home.

Early 80's rebel, preachers daughter, I had a purple streak in my hair, much to the eternal agony of my father :) Did some modeling (back in the day).

This was an interesting thread idea...kudos.

The first year and a half sucked. I was in Stuyvesant, 'nuff said.
Went to a new school and I was BORN! I was a kind of musician deadhead biker hybrid. A violent hippie or mellow metalhead. Leather jacket, boots, flannels, tie-dyed shirts. Got in with a group of misfits, a couple of punks, metal heads, ugly kids, anyone who didn't fit into any of the established cliques. A couple of rich kids and a few welfare rats. We made it a point to have more fun, get in more trouble, have more sex and do more drugs than any other group of kids. Senior year a couple of us bought old brit-bikes and before you know it our little 'misfit' gang were the coolest kids in school.
Best part...only one or two of the gang did not graduate with honors.

We all looked so different from each other that it really freaked out the clique kids. The teachers even liked us, LOL!

Oh yeah, got a job setting up stages and lights for fashion shows, so that was fun too!

My HS was small. We had plenty of cliques, but they were all interchangeable..everyone new eachother, everyone partied together. Probably the only place you would see a "goth" and a "hick" and the homecoming queen sitting together in the quad. oh...the quad..them was the days. lol

Physical appearance:
I wore blue school uniform in High School. It was compulsory. Most girls (me included) tried to get away with skirts hemline shorter than permitted and had the Discipline Mistress after us all the time... hehehe... I also had "China Doll" hairdo with fringe and wore "Straight-A-face" glasses... Carried a blue UMBRO brand knapsack for my school-bag... quite a Dork actually...

What I did:
I studied art and learned to paint... Couldn't play girly sports such as Netball for nutz but I did rugby, softball, field hockey, swimming and passed my marksmanship test... Don't like boys from my school, preferred them from other high schools... er.. now no like dating guys from my country... similar reasons?

One incident took place during my 3rd year in High School when I was 15, which resulted in my first lesson of "self esteem" from non other than my dear mum...

A boy from my year tried to talk to me when I was eating in the school canteen (cafe/tuckshop). I ignored him because I don't like those noisy "bad boys". He started hurling abusive at me and said I was very ugly. I went home crying and mum asked why. She simply rolled her eyes after hearing me and said, "Of course you are not ugly my dear. WHY was he even talking to you if you're ugly? He probably just got mad because you'd embarrassed him infront of his boys by ignoring him..."

I love my mother... she taught me well...

I graduated in 1975, so I had blue jeans, a jean jacket, and Farrah hair!
I also never missed a party.

Hmmmm 70 - 74. I was a long hair, in jeans with suede patches. Peace symbol on a leather cord around my neck. Class clown that did plenty detention time. Supplied the school drug dealer with cash, he smoked his money away on the weekends. I'd lend him $100 on Monday and get $200 back on Thursday, hell of a deal. Dated the gal known as "Flatsy Patsy" wonder if she ever got tlts. Played on the hockey team, bye bye two front teeth. April Wine was still a bar/school dance band back then, they played my Grad dance. Ahhh, wonderful days!!
