Anime & Video Games: Gain/Lose Points?

I like Video games, I can play Nintendo DS stuff for ages in bed, and I like to splatter a few zombie brains up against already blood spatterfed walls a la Silent Hill or Res Evil type milarkey.
I also enjoy smiting mythical creatures Lara Croft style,... BUT,.. and heres where most gamer guys go wrong,.. they think some girlfriend is going to be entranced by the sight of the back of their boyfriends head for 3 hours at a time, whilst he painstakingly assembles a spaceships inertial dampners, or forges armour made of elf steel or whatever. NO .. its not interesting to be left sitting like a bottle of milk whilst someone plays a game for interminable time.
Anime? Well, a lot of people do associate it with rather pervy schoolgirl type characters,.. wether fair or not,.. and I stopped sitting watching cartoons.. sorry 'animation' a long time ago.
I suppose what im trying to say is,.. why would anyone want to foist their hobby or interest on a partner?
People rarely like the same stuff, and even if they do, they want to participate, not be a bored audience.
I think Ive made myself clear.

Any girl who's into anime + video games is a friend in my book.

Though.. too many people assume anime is limited to one, cliche, overrated animation series known as "Naruto"

If I could get that anime to be banned from U.S. TV, I'd do it.

I simply can't date a girl if she's not into anime or videogames. That would be like pouring milk into a bag of potato chips; it just wouldn't work.

My girlfriend and I get pretty competitive in video games; if I win.. she picks the anime. If she wins... well, same difference. Geeks will rule dating someday... somehow...

^^^Quite possibly the dumbest thing I've ever read on this forum. You do realize you wouldn't be able to enjoy it then? Even online, as they would place regional net restrictions as well.

And many silly people who are into anime, tend to get trendy cliquey and ELITE because they don't watch the main stream anime..this is no better than people who only listen to a certain type of music, and critic others because their brand isnt "indie" or because it is main stream.
People like you enjoy an anime, but when it gets popular, and more people like it, you no longer get to view it as your own little secret. You don't get to say "That isnt real anime, I watch real anime."

Also, they act as if they are better because they watch it with subtitles.
Jesus, people like you trip me out. YOU DONT SPEAK JAPANESE FLUENTLY, yet you are willing to condemn anyone who watches mainstream anime on tv in the states as not cool..

I GREW UP WATCHING JAPANESE TELEVISION. I grew up, with the language and to this day, I adore Do rae mon. (Cat like robot.) I still remember crying as a little boy in the late 80's when KuLiLin dies at the hands of P. Daimyo. I still recall Kamesenin being the dirty perv he was, and how later in life Rumiko Takahashi adopted his attitude for her happosai charater. I still read manga, as well as several japanese biweeklys THAT AREN'T ANIMATED CHARACTERS.

I am fluent in Japanese. I grew up on the lots of Japanese Tv show that you knew nothing about as you werent even born yet, but the second Anime shows came to america, I was excited!!!

Because I then was allowed to show my friends in the states what I grew up with.
So get off your high horse, you aren't as cool as you think you are.
Oh, and I love Naruto It is huge in Japan. HUGE.

Why would it not be huge in the Americas?
You are no better than anyone else. All the animation limitation does is LIMIT YOU.

Yes, because I enjoy Naruto.

... Did you even bother reading my post in its entirety?

Oh, and thank you for the informative post, oh omniscient one. We're all idiots except for you.

As an obvious female, I adore both video games and anime and if I where to find someone who had that same passion that I do, then we'd be one hell of a match.

However... If he played too much video games to the point where he was on the computer or the console all day and all night, then he'd have to go.

Uhh yes little girl I did. And I wasn't referencing naruto specifically. I was referencing all of the "Overated Anime" you were talking about. Yet still, that was not even the point. And I was speaking in general to people jsut like you, but if you want to personalize the stupidity,go right ahead.

You have no more right to decide what is or isnt over rated. You are bashing an awesome Manga by Kishi, as if whatever you read is better, when and intelligent person knows that better is nothing more than a matter of perspective and preference.

You can only speak and decide for yourself. Also, my level of intelligence doesn't exceed anyone here, save you. So before you go about making assumptions, perhaps you should think about what I said, and approach me with a better thought out retort.

And I quote from Master Shake...

"I'll assume what I want, when I want, and how I want to." (Okay, so maybe he didn't say that.. but he probably would.)

Why? Because I love my imperfections. Does the word "intelligent" even have a true definition anymore? Perhaps a strong will of logic, yes, but who wants to be around someone like that most of the time?

"and intelligent person knows that better is nothing more than a matter of perspective and preference."

Yes, whatever I say is better is better in my own mind. You act as if I didn't know that. Egad, did you just make an assumption?!

As for deciding what's overrated/underrated, I don't think there's an e-law stipulating that I can't state such opinions yet. I'm sorry.

And while you're ordering me around/lecturing me, reading this obscure, fragmented post.. I think I'll play along. An intelligent person would not try to lecture me on the subject of anime, especially whatever might be good/bad/overrated.

I'm into some anime and video games, so if I meet a guy who is (and many are) that's a plus to me.

I often wonder if people (Especially the Ladies) see video/computergames and Anime as a legitimate form of Entertainment? Also, do you add or subtract points to the person if he/she does enjoy it?"

I add points for him liking gaming and being into it. I take points away if his job is suffering because of said gaming.

.... I am getting dressed right now to go play some Magic the Gathering at a local gaming convention!

I enjoy video games and anime alot, but I like to go out and do things alot too, so I couldn't be with someone that would always choose games/anime over going out to do things.

Ok, I like the games where you sing or play guitar, but only for about an hour. If my boyfriend wanted to spend all his free time playing video games instead of doing things with or to me, I'd get really annoyed.

My daughter, 18, just dated a guy a couple of times, had a good time, but it seemed all he could talk about was World of Warcraft or something like that. She dropped him like a hot potato. Any guy that interested in a video game, and not the real world was definitely not for her! It's funny, now she has a nice boyfriend, and they occasionally play video games together, but it is not an obsession. Real world fun is so much better than scaring at a screen.

I think WoW has actually killed a few people in reality.. or maybe it was that South Park episode getting to me.

As for the real world.. well.. it's too stressful for me!

Luckily my dearest is just as addicted to video games of the 16-bit era and anime of the non-overrated type as I am. Real life is too boring until I can move out of this boring town (with her, of course.) It's fun sharing your first pocky with someone you love though. That's a real-life experience I'd LOVE to experience again.

My recent ex, was on his x-box constantly, if he didnt have his kids and wasnt at work he was on it.
While he wasnt on it he would text etc, i could always tell when he was on it as he would take ages to reply to messages and wouldnt be really into what we were chatting about.
He was totally oblivious to this of course!!
Did make me wonder what it would be like if things progressed and we lived together, would i be living with him or the x-box??
Do men grow out of these things? He was 33 by the way, not 5 lol

Wow, that's depressing.

Now let me ask you this.. how in the holy mother of god could a guy spend more time on his videogames than his girl? Yeah yeah, I know other guys do it too, but it just boggles my mind. How can you get bored with someone who has feelings for you? (Unless that person is just 100% unattractive/unappealing, of course) Maybe I'm just not as into the videogame scene like I used to be. It just doesn't seem right, and though I'm one hell of a gaming geek (If 16-bit stuff counts ), I always make time for my girlfriend when I have a way and time to see her...

...Though, I also guess I am a bit of a hypocrite since gotten immersed into drawing one too many times while accidentally ignoring my girlfriend's messages. It's not so bad now though.

My xbox 360 is collecting dust. Too many boring games (Or I'm just way too picky) and they're all too bloody expensive.

I am an oddball in this topic so far in that I enjoy video games but not too fond of anime. I think the anime style makes for some excellent images, but I really hate the look of it in motion. *shrugs*
