No surprise so many people dig on Bob Marley (Natty Dread is my fav album. Fav song "Punky Reggae Party", and Peter Tosh, etc... no one can really hate on Bob Marley....

I also listen to some modern reggae (or reggae influenced bands). Most of them I have heard on the folk festival scene.... Spearhead, Mishka, Burning Spear, Matisyahu (he used to be a phish-kid).... I wish my memory was better.

Reggae is also the best music for me to listen to when I'm raiding on WoW.

Israelites is the one that did it for me too! I have been a lover of reggae ever since I first heard it back in 68! Check out "Sleepers Record Shack" It's a non commercial amateur podcast show. It links to other podcasts all dedicated to reggae, reggae, reggae!

I’m a fan of Ska , Rocksteady and old Classic Reggae …

Trojan Records has an excellent selection of box sets .. I love to see the looks on peoples faces when they see and hear my Skinhead Reggae Box Set from Trojan Records .. I’m sure they are thinking what the hell does being a Skinhead have to do with Reggae music ? If they only knew..

reggae is okay i guess...
for fans of the classic reggae i highly recommend the movie Rockers. It features Jacob Miller, Gregory Isaacs, Burning Spear, Big Youth and may others.

Iam curious how other reggae fans feel about BMW. I personally prefer the older stuff with the origanal band, Bob , Peter, and Bunny. Does anyone else agree ?

Just got turned on to this. If you are looking for a nice Pink Floyd - esque groove, check out the East Side Allstars ... they perform a totally reggae version of Dark Side of the Moon ...

its actually Easy Side Allstars, and they also have a version of Radioheads Ok Computer, Its called Radiodread.

I have a couple of Trojan sets myself, Bob Marley and the Wailers Trenchtown Rock, The Anthology, 1969-78 which are the Lee Perry produced tracks, and the other is DJ Spooky Presents In Fine Style, Both are very good.

I only really got into reggae when I was around 18-19, I was in a friends car and he was playing 'Return of Django' , I immediately started asking him all manner of questions and he also recommended the Trojan records boxsets. My old man had loads of vinyl too, Black Uhuru, U-Roy, Matumbi, Ken Boothe etc

Roots reggae and dub is what I really like, nice to find similar minded folk. Too many people are into dancehall !

Good call whoever it was who mentioned Yellowmans zunguguuguguzeng (That's not spelled right but hey)

I've been a reggae DJ in clubs for over 15 years now and on radio for the last year.

Unfortunately it seems I can't advertise my show here, which is a pity as you'd hear a great cross section of classic reggae on it.

However I'll roll off some names to check out for you all:

The Heptones
Abyssinnians
Claudius Linton
Kingman and Jonah
Chezidek
Ras Shiloh
Garnett Silk
Aaron Silk (his bro)
Slim Smith
Ken Boothe
Bob Andy
Alton Ellis
Cornell Campbell
Freddy McKay

All great artists and legends of the genre.

I saw "The Harder They Come" when it came out, and the power of the music has never left me.

Anything BUT Marley. It is an instant turnoff when a guy says he likes Marley. Personally, I am a fan of Lovers Rock.
