| Changing to Christmas Season to the Holiday Season?????? Posted: 12/23/2006 9:35:35 PM | I think we have all forgotten our roots, our sole existence of what makes us who we are become. It is only in the past and understanding and knowing our roots that we can move forward to a life of peace and understanding.
We have debated, we have used our intellect, we have all learned people but the one thing we have forgotten is that we are primarily HUMAN.
All the work that was spent in the 60's, 70's 80's to promote peace on this planet and I just hope that we remember that Christmas is about goodwill, peace and love to every human being on this planet regardless of race, religion, colour and belief. That is what Christmas is for me. I challenge anyone who does not wish goodwill for all mankind and themselves.
In the words of John Lennon who fought and gave up his life for peace I have decided to post this song.
John and Yoko spent a lot of time in the late '60s and early '70s working to promote peace. In 1969, they put up billboard advertisements in major cities around the world that said, "War is over! (If you want it)." Two years later this became the basis for this song when Lennon decided to make a Christmas record with an anti-war message.
Lennon was shot and killed less than 3 weeks before Christmas in 1980. This was re-released in the UK on December 20th of that year.
So this is Christmas And what have you done Another year over And a new one just begun And so this is Christmas I hope you have fun The near and the dear one The old and the young
A very merry Christmas And a happy New Year Let's hope it's a good one Without any fear And so this is Christmas For weak and for strong For rich and the poor ones
The world is so wrong And so happy Christmas For black and for white For yellow and red ones
Let's stop all the fight A very merry Christmas And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one Without any fear And so this is Christmas And what have we done Another year over And a new one just begun
And so this is Christmas I hope you have fun The near and the dear one The old and the young A very merry Christmas And a happy New Year Let's hope it's a good one Without any fear
War is over over If you want it War is over Now...

Is Christmas not a "Holy day"?
To me it is not. It is not the Birthday of Jesus according to the bible.
Alas, ...This time of year is neither Merry, nor Happy for me, my mother passed away a year ago Dec. 24th.
Needless to say, ....I prefer Happy Holidays,
I am so sorry for your pain at this time of the year. I wish for you peace and happiness in the new year. Seasons Greetings.
Seasons Greetings to all people everywhere.

| Changing to Christmas Season to the Holiday Season?????? Posted: 12/25/2006 6:15:29 AM | True Christians understand that Jesus never owned a Christmas Tree and never suggested one be named after Him, or cards or carols for that matter. He never instructed His disciples to try to take over the government in His name. He by and large ignored His government and it was one of the worst non-Christian governments in history. Jesus was about converting individuals.
The serious student of the Gospels understands that Christianity is a self-improvement course. If you get busy trying to follow the teachings in the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) you will realize your own shortcomings. And you will find that Jesus cautioned against criticizing others in His name. He said to cast the beam out of your own eye before you worry about the mote in your brother's eye, and to judge not lest you be judged.
Criticizing others and the government in the name of Christianity is a cop-out for those who who do not want to study and try to follow the teachings in the Gospels themselves.

So then why isn't Jesus the one getting all the gifts then? Talk about mising the point. Does anyone, anyone? even get Him a Gift? So much for thinking about Jesus.

| Changing to Christmas Season to the Holiday Season?????? Posted: 12/25/2006 8:41:46 AM | This is whats wrong with politics, all we are getting is the extremes of both spectrums, no balance. people have to start realising that all extremes are bad be it right wing or left wing. To much control leads to tyrany, to little leads to anarchy, both sides aren't pretty.
As for the taking out christmast, even thou i dont really celebrate it it offends me to the core. Who are they to sensor christmast, who are they to say that we cannot display a christmast tree in a public place? Christmast is more then about religion, its also about tradition, also how the hell is anyone offended by christmast or a christmast tree, please enlighten me on that. Christmast doesn't advocate hate, it advocates about love, sharing and peace.
In my opinion even thou i am liberal leaning, all the liberal extremist should just leave the party, and start there own, we dont need idiots like them and there just hurting us more then anything else or they can just go rot in hell for all i care.

For instance Bill O'Reilly falsely claimed the post office wouldn't issue Christmas stamps. Saying Happy Holidays also tends to be because it is put together with New Years, not to avoid saying Merry Christmas. Sure, Christmas should be what it always was, but I think the right is looking for a crusade anywhere they can find it.

| Changing to Christmas Season to the Holiday Season?????? Posted: 12/25/2006 9:04:33 AM | Sorry kids, I celebrate Christmas, not Holiday Season. I wish all those I meet a Merry Christmas. If they celebrate something else, Hannaka, Kwanza, (and please forgive my spelling) I wish them Happy..... I do not wish to offend. Tell me what YOU celebrate and I will celebrate with you as well.
You believe what you believe and I believe in Christ and Christmas. If you are offended, then possibly you should learn of Christ's love and lack of judgement.
Merry Christmas to all. And to those who do not celebrate Christmas, I do wish you a very Happy ............!!
Just one man's humble opinion.

| Changing to Christmas Season to the Holiday Season?????? Posted: 12/25/2007 7:56:55 AM | While it is important that we at least respect the religions, beliefs and traditions of others, it is also important that we do not lose, give up, or hold back from expressing our own religion, beliefs and traditions in the process.
Merry Christmas to all!!!

| Changing to Christmas Season to the Holiday Season? Posted: 12/25/2007 8:12:19 AM | It is interesting to me that we have been posting to this one thread for three years. When I read the first post, I wondered who "the government" is. I work for a regulatory agency in the U.S. federal government and, as far as I know, my agency isn't trying to "de-Christmas" Christmas. It is also interesting to note that I am not a Christian and have Christian children, all of whom celebrate Christmas as the religious holiday it is and the secular, most-important holiday in the U.S. I give them gifts, wish them a merry Christmas and all the rest. And when my religious holy days come around, they observe my own traditions.
9/11 was a day that changed much. I hope it did not change everything.
Michael
PS. And "Merry XMas"?? You won't find ME using that ugly term!

| Changing to Christmas Season to the Holiday Season?????? Posted: 12/25/2007 8:42:07 AM | Finally, someone who really knows what it is to be a part of the Christian faith. Someone who understands their responsibilitity to study and grow. When you are educated like this, you know who you are, what is important and can walk out into the world with respect for others. Majority or Minority, this is America, land of diversity. Most everyone's ancestors came by boat via Ellis Island, Slave boat, some as criminals dumped here by other countries, .....etc.
The only ones who can post foul are those who are Native Americans.
Thank you Alana2, you saved my faith in people.
