i am tired of the same old song,that football is boring because of the low scoring,what you show is a worrying ignorance,i shall tell it again (one more) well sports such as NFL,etc have high scoring because there are points,you know,if you score a touchdown you get 7 seven points i think so if you score 3 you get 21 points! that explains the high scoring,HOWEVER,in football that is not possible because 1 goal is just 1 goal or 2 goals are just 2 goals,are you smart to understand it???
and i inform you that sometimes,matches ending without goals are more interesting than matches with goals,you know,the 2 teams are attacking and attacking with lots of chances to score but the ball does not want to enter.it is quite interesting and you may have a heart attack,lol
by the way,your comment saying that it would be better to widen the net is QUITE ridiculous and it does not deserve an answer! | |

Sure the higher score the more impressive, but if one were to only score points in gridiron (respectfully used) via touchdown, then you would see many 1-0 and 2-1 games. Even the top offences rarely score more than 4 or 5 TD's in a game. | |

I was just suggesting that if Soccer were to widen the goal by about 30 feet you'd have more scoring and entertain the crowd more. The point of field team sports is usually to score. Then give the fans more score for their money, give them more scoring.
What do you think of narrowing the net or even getting rid of scoring altogether? Just have the crowd vote on who tried the hardest? Some sports to have judges just vote.
Remove the nets altogether and have a panel of nine judges vote on which team won on effort and strength, sort of like virtual scoring, they just run around and pretend to kick a ball. Very stylish. Huge crowds cheering.
Also allow tackling in the last few minutes to help get the frustrations out. That way the placid soccer crowds wouldn't get violent after the game. Give them some hitting and tackling, some aggression. spectator sports are a civil way people get out their aggression. Give them, in America, their money's worth.
I was trying to improve soccer so Americans would like it. I'm your friend.
Wouldn't you like to see 280 million Americans cheering on Soccer?
Maybe you're right, sports should be civil and not slug fests. But what is wrong with widening the net to speed up scoring and customer satisfaction? | |

your comment is still ridiculous and typical from a person who has no idea what football is,what the hell does high scoring have to do with to entertain??? i have watched lots of matches ending 5-0,3-0,4-0,6-0,etc and they were quite boring because the losing team was very poor against a very superior rival,whereas many matches ending 1-0,2-0,1-1 or even 0-0 are a lot better with the 2 teams playing well,you know,attacking after attacking but the ball does not want to enter.
you say "give the fans more score for their money" perhaps that is valid in north america but not here! so are you suggesting that north americans only want to see high scoring,even if their favourite teams lose or win getting many goals??? are you suggesting that north americans are not happy if their favourite teams win with a low scoring??? please!!!!!!! i am proud and happy to be european! i just do not understand that north american sporting attitude!
and talking about your "new rules to improve football" well those rules really make no sense and are ridiculous,tackling and aggression are not allowed because any player doing it will receive yellow and red cards,they would be sent off!
with your own rules football will die,that is for sure! or at least it will become one of those american sports,NO THANKS! | |

Posted: 9/17/2006 1:48:50 PM | Ok, try sitting a hot as car for 500 miles, not be able to stop to take a leak, fighting off 42 other cars, and have to keep your concentration at 100%. There is definitely some physical exertion involved. Not to mention what heppens when that wall gets closer than you wanted it to.
As far Motorcycle racing, mentioned earlier. MX is probably one of the most physically demanding sports, which to do good have to be in incredible shape.
Soccer - Boring as hell to watch, and don't really 100% action all the time. Why do you think it hasn;t caught on here, even though at seems half the kids play it. As for playing yeah, it will definiteley tire you out. Hockey is much better
MXC on TV, one of the funniest, most entertaining psuedo sport shown on TV. | |

On topic...I don't know about "make sense"...but the fact that Curling is in the Olympics....and baseball/softball are about to be dropped from Olympic competition is pretty ridiculous. | |

baseball really does not make any sense,the little that i have watched in american films you have a man trying to hit a small ball with a piece of wood or metal called "bat" and then the man starts running,and some spectator gets crazy getting the ball as if the ball were owned by the Messiah!
another sport that makes no sense is gridiron or also called american football or NFL,i know that the players are strong but i would only be interested if they got rid of those helmets and padding as rugby is a similar sport but the players do not wear those ridiculous things.
perhaps if i really understood them,then i would like them,why not??? | |

Curling, god bless, is a "sport" where you can be a fat slob or a pencil neck geek and be the best. But playing it for fun...is fun. Individual sports like swimming, running, tennis, boxing, and wrestling, not the steroid fake trailer trash smack down crap. That's just ludicrous and stupid like the "semi" new sport of extreme fighting. I also don't care for calling hunting a sport. It's not so fair for the game their hunting. I know, I know, it keeps the herds from getting diseased, but it ain't a sport. | |
