50 guys on 1 team..
Almost as many coaches telling them what to do.
Most of the guys could not play any other sport due to their unhealthy size.
Stops every 5 seconds, then the clock moves for another 35 while they think and get
instructions from the sidelines.
The average player plays less than 2 minutes of actual game play.(If you do not count
huddling)
If you have a horrible season you are rewarded by recieving the number 1 draft pick, lol.
Players suck down oxygen after running 20 yards.
The fact that it is called "football"
There is no real "skill" other than having size, and athletic ability.. Catch, throw, run, block, tackle..Other sports take a good 10 years to reach the highest level of that skill. If you have size or speed, you can walk onto a division 1 college football team.
Since no other country plays it, or wants to, the winner of the Super Bowl is deemed "World Champions". lol
It is difficult to gauge who even has skill. Why so many number one draft pick quarterbacks bust, and Tom Brady is one of the best ever and picked late in the fourth round. These mistakes are not made in hockey, soccer,basketball etc, as the skill is clearly defined.
Running the same plays over and over then stopping.
Having a separate kicker for punting, field goals, and even kick offs...Come on.. | |

I think your looking at the o-lineman and d-lineman maybe...but go take a look at terrel owens, the guy is a physical god, randy moss, rodney harrison, ladinion tomlinson, merriman, john lynch, I could go on and on about athletes in the NFL that are much more superior athletes than you give them credit for.....

there is 11 players on the field, they all have to be on the same page for a play to work....do you expect them to free lance it?...if its a handoff the o-lineman need to know who to block and how....if its a pass play, the recievers need to know this....well...cause they might have to catch a pass

you have no idea what your talking about.....the entire offense plays pretty much every offensive snap...with exception to maybe a few plays here and there...an AVERAGE players plays about 3 quarters worth of football.....thats about 2 hours REAL time.....

yes...we dont play other countries...your right "technically"....BUT...do you know who plays in the world football league?.....thats right...nfl players go there to GET BETTER...cause they usually cant make a nfl team...or are on the bubble....the best football players play in the nfl...that is FACT....arguing about "world champions" is just splitting hairs...
its obvouis your not a fan of the nfl....you made that point loud and clear..but at least come up with facts that MAKE SENSE...I hate soccer cause I think its boring...but i could never talk about it cause i dont know enough about it......i just think its boring to watch...plain and simple.... | |

It's not a sport, it's a circus act.
Anything which involves a committee of judges to determine how well the players did and who wins is not a sport.
Figure skating, gymnastics, and synchronized swimming are not sports, they are exhibitions.
Sure, the people who do them are athletes, but it's not a sport. | |

ok...'equestrian' leaves the door wide opened. do you mean hunter/jumper? steeplechase? barrel racing? team penning? the only people i know who do any of this came up through the 4H circuit ~ you don't find many rich, snobby chicks there.

they say to make a million in horse racing, start with 5 million and wait 2 years. 'nuff said.

Seriously, most modern sports/activities have some historical connection that evolved over time into a modern form of either ---entertainment, or exercise, etc.
This could possibly explain why some sports make NO sense....eg...marathon runners..
who in his or her right mind would do such a thing???? They did in ancient times because they needed the fastest runner in the village to get a message to someone in a neighboring kingdom AND Quickly!!

Poker - ditto.
Hunting - Murder is not a sport. Or a game. If you personally must hunt to survive, fine. Otherwise, do NOT call yourself a sportsman. Ever.
Fishing- see above. How is sitting in a boat with a six pack of beer a 'sport'?
Curling - What the....?
Car/motorcycle racing except cross-country rallies - stupid, pointless waste of resources. | |

...just about anything can be made a 'sport' of!
-there are sports that require athleticism and those that don't!........racing, fishing, hunting do not need athletic participants!.....some require little athleticism such as Golf or playing pool................i don't think card or board games are considered to be sports!
hunting and fishing were once (and still are in some places) considered a necessary skill in order to survive...whether by gun or bow!.........in civilized society, hunting and fishing has been turned into a pseudo-sport (much like bull-fighting)...in which only 1 side always ends up the winner! | |

I've played football as well, and it disgusts me the total lack of athletisism needed to play that sport, now I'm not saying there aren't great athletes in football, but you don't necessarly need to be an athlete to do good in it. As well I also powerlift and have recently started training for strongman. And I will tell you, those guys who do competitive eating, hats off to them, that's seriously hardcore, I have to forcefeed myself sometimes to get enough solid food. The jist of it is, I don't quite know anyone here, but maybe if you compete in a sport, you won't be so quick to judge other sports. As for nascar, the speed they zoom around those circles in is insane, in a straight line that would be nothing, on a slight curve that's crazy, so back to the don't knock it until you try it! | |

Posted: 1/2/2008 10:14:08 PM | I understand that Monster trucks were mentioned, and Nascar. Both of these are motor sports. I'm going to tell you why, so you have no reason to say somebody didn't explain it to you.
Why do the crush cars before they time trials? Fans love it, and plus it makes it easier on the time trials to see that horse power roar and which truck can get more air. My personal favorite is Grave Digger, even though they've have 15 or 16 versions by now. Monster Trucks is all about some carnage, and time trials. When you're sitting behind that much horse power what are the odds you can beat out the other guy who may have more power, but may not know how to handle his truck completely. Those time trials are exciting to me, they may not be for everybody else but hey so be it.
NASCAR:Every driver his competing against the condition of their car. You have to consider gas, tires, and every other major thing that can put you out of the running. Every driver has a strategy but you can't bet every other car out there, the driver is looking to take that one or two second lead over the others. And in NASCAR thats a lot of time. Especially with the condition of the track they're on. When you're driving 200 miles an hour, fighting the condition of the track, your car, and other drivers, then yes its quite exciting to see what works and what doesn't for everybody else.
Tennis & Ping Pong. Which ping pong by the way is just a miniture version of tennis. what a waste of time me thinks.  | |

Posted: 1/4/2008 4:59:46 PM | Anyone bagging on motorcycle racing obviously has no concept of the amount of engineering and development that go into those machines, to say nothing of the advances that trickle down the average consumer. Its also among the most physically demanding sports (all venues, be they roadracing or motocross) out there.
The same could be said of open wheel car racing, albeit with slightly less emphasis on physical stamina and strength.
NASCAR, on the other hand, is a friggin' joke. Everyone's running the same engines, in the same frames, on the same tires under bodywork with different stickers. Lame.  | |

Some extreme sports I don't get either. They seem to just add the word 'extreme' in front of something and it is a sport and they will show it on television.

Truth is, what ever happens in the sport doesn't really matter since it's not an international game. i think their is a reason why rugby is biggest in US college sector. It's the intelligent one's who realise.
But stuff all that, SEX is the best and most participated sport if you want to look at it that way..........IMO , do i get Ahmen to that? | |

Each sport can improve each others but they can also bring some bad habbits to your game.
