| Good Places to eat, and good places to take a date Posted: 1/12/2006 12:13:48 AM | I guess it depends most on what city...
In NF, I personally love Carpaccio's (be prepared to spend a bit more if you go, it's not anywhere near as 'reasonably priced' as ESM or Outback or whatever, but the quality of the menu is terrific, and the bar selection is very good, even for draft imports.
St.Kit's, well, I'd probably have to say Mandarin, but I personally wouldn't want to go to an all-you-can-eat on a date. (With my 'figure' it would give so the wrong opinion...)
In Ottawa, one place I've always wanted to go (any locals tell me, is it any good?) is Zaphod Beeblebrox's, is it still around, even? (I would like to try a Pan-Galactic Gargle Blaster, so sue me.)
In K-W, I'd suggest the Huether Hotel (just not the section with the stage... unless you're sure your date really would like that...) or Yukiko's (For dessert, after you eat wherever...)
Of course, ESM and Philthy McNasty's are usually pretty safe bets, too, just about whereever...
Oh yeah, and for the perfect first date, in Toronto, the ACC...;)

| Good Places to eat, and good places to take a date Posted: 3/10/2006 8:24:05 AM | I agree that meeting for dinner can be very uncomfortable for both people. Should save seeing someone eat until you know them a bit better! So I would suggest coffee or a drink (but don't drink too much!!) just do meet and get to know if you click at all.
In Burlington I would suggest the****ns (downtown), friendly atmosphere, lots of drinks to select from, great staff and sometimes even a band to listen too!

| Good Places to eat, and good places to take a date Posted: 3/10/2006 9:46:50 PM | | For Torontonians, I highly recommend checking out a place called "Red Room" at College and Spadina. It's a great place with great food including an all-day brunch menu, nice atmosphere, cheap prices and a great assortment of good music from different eras and genres always being played throughout the place. | |

| Good Places to eat, and good places to take a date Posted: 7/19/2006 6:23:41 PM | In the Niagara Region there is a new restaurant in Port Dalhousie called Treadwell. The Chef Stephen Treadwell is amazing and the food is very tasty. He is very experienced working as a fine dining Chef from England and then on to Niagara on the Lake for the past 10 years. I was soooo excited to see him venture into his own. It is right on the water and you can see the sailboats, ducks ect, so it provides a great setting for romance. The atmosphere is fine dining, the food is fresh inspired, and the menu simply tastes phenomenal!! I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys an exceptional fine dining experience!
(google it if you like ) | |

| Good Places to eat, and good places to take a date Posted: 7/23/2006 1:12:12 AM | | I would have to say Jack Astor's. But, sit in the****ail area or on the patio. It's a nice place to go and lots of things are always going on, so you don't have to sit there and feel like you need to stare at your date the entire time. lol It's also very casual and the food is great! (Lots of things to share.) But what I think I like best about Jack Astor's is that you can actually have a conversation with your date...which is always a good idea! | |

| Good Places to eat, and good places to take a date Posted: 7/28/2006 6:44:35 PM | Belleville.
**Sweet Basil** Hands down the best food in Belleville. The owner is the main and only chef. Gourmet food. Expensive though. $30 and up for main entree.
**Twist** Great food, gourmet caliber, the same owner of fabulous "hidden Bistro". $20 and up for main entree.
**Toro** The best Japanese food in Belleville. OK, it's the only Japanese. But it's good. I'd go there if it's in Toronto. They also have good Korean food. The owner Kevin is a great sushi chef. $15 for main entree.
**Dickel/paulos** The stable in Belleville. You can't go wrong there. $15 and up.
**Linguini** The same owner as Pico Italia. A great local Italian restaurant. $15 and up.
**The India restaurant inside Clarion Hotel** The only India fair in Belleville. It's good too. $15 and up.
**The coffee shop at corner of Front and Bridge in downtown** Good lunch for a reasonable price. The best sandwich in Belleville. The coffee is better than Timmy.
**Brenda's Coffee shop** Good coffee and sweet treats. The owner bakes them herself every morning unlike the frozen doug from Timmy. Please don't go to Timmy. To show your date you know the local gem.
**Kippers (spell?) in downtown** Good food, small portion. $12 and up. Highly recommend the Jazz night every Thursday. Go after dinner for a drink. Very quiet. Some high caliber musicians (usually you pay $15 and up to see them in concert) because the owner has connection.
**Crappy Joe's** I usually don't like chains. This one I like. Free peanuts in the bar, pool table. The unlimited salad and bread is good. I like the bread so much, I usually take the main entree home for lunch next day.
**Boston Pizza** The best chicken wings in Belleville. Beat Kelsey’s by a mile. Good pizza too.
**Ramada Inn** I'm not a steak person. This is the place for pepper steak. They'll cook in your table if you want to impress your date, order that. Good view of the lake. $15 and up.
**A&P** The only Gellato ice cream in town. I love gellato.
**Winchester's Arm** The English pub. Used to be good. Still good. But increase the price of drinks (more expensive than Twist) and food. Don't go there anymore.
**Boat House** The best fish and chips in Belleville. Increase the price with same food. The best pati. A great view of the harbour. $13 and up.
Of course there chain stores like Montana's, Ponderosa, Eastside Mario, Kelsey's, Denny's (no beer), Coral's, and Swiss Chalet. I don't go these places unless in a company outing. I'd rather go to local independent reastaurants.

| Good Places to eat, and good places to take a date in Ajax Posted: 6/13/2007 7:55:56 PM | In Ajax
Ajax is pretty much the town that eats. There are ALOT of restaurants and places to eat, too many to list here so I am only listing my favourites.
Applejacks - On the corner of Bayley and Harwood, the same area where the Food Basics is. New place, costs a wee bit more than the A&W next to it LOL! Not too bad though at an average of $11.00 per meal.
Sushi and Rolls - On the corner of Harwood and Bayley in the Baywood Plaza. Not too expensive and has all you can eat sushi!
Imperial Buffet - On the corner of Harwood and Chapman Drive (www.imperialbuffet.com) ALL YOU CAN EAT CRAB LEGS! Ding Ding Ding! We have a winner!

Perkins - St Laurent - nice family restaurant where they don't rush you and you can hear what your date is saying
Denny's - South Keys - nice place for a breakfast or brunch meeting on the weekends - there's a nice park nearby in the Greenboro area if you want to walk off the meal afterwards.

| Good Places to eat, and good places to take a date Posted: 12/25/2007 11:54:59 PM | In Kingston, my favourite place is Greco's on Princess Street, greek food, entrees under $20, lots of good, fresh food (never room for dessert). Can be noisy though, ask for the window.
Gusto's is now out of business, I'm afraid, we had to cancel an anniversary party in Jan.
Fasooli's on Gardiners Rd., Rose and Crown (Bayridge and Princess) for excellent fish and chips, Tom's Place at the Best Western is a cozy, quiet place for drinks and conversation. For something to do and good food, head to Raxx on Gardiners Rd. It's a pool hall/bar, but actually has good food. If you go Friday evening before 7:00 you can order the steak special for $4.99 if you order a beverage, too (can be non-alcoholic). You get a good strip loin, baked potato and veggies, and again, it's amazingly good. So are the caesar salads (if you don't mind the garlic ;-}). Play some pool after and then the bands begin by 10. Fun night all around.
Enjoy a fun, but safe, New Year's!
