| are the pay sites scamming us Posted: 11/29/2007 3:54:29 PM | Kevin,
I have found that most of the pay sites are scams. I had the same thing happen. No matches, and then right when subscription runs out, they send you a few matches. It's always fake ads most of the time too. Photos that are airbrushed, and they expect that you will look and think. "Oh my word look at her, I have to shell out 50 more dollars to get to know her" It's one big scam and it's fake. I'm not going to say there are no real people on those sites, I'm sure there are. The question is, is it worth paying money to have a bunch of women tossed your way that end up not being from the USA as stated in their profiles? I would say not. One of my matches from a pay site was some woman who wanted me to fly her out of Russia to come and love me for life. I could tell this was a mass email scam that was sent out to whomever. Oh and I forgot to add also. The email said also that in order for her to get here, she needed me to wire her 1000 dollars so she could get things rolling.
Ummmm errrrr ummmm errrrr yah, thats going to happen. Anyways, to sum up my thoughts. Most all the pay sites that I have tried are just rip offs.
|
| are the pay sites scamming us Posted: 11/30/2007 1:06:49 PM | | I think that the success stories on pay sites are fake. Maybe the pay sites should be shut down if they are fraudulent. I will stay with this site. | |
|
| are the pay sites scamming us Posted: 11/30/2007 2:25:12 PM | | Yes I believe and Know for a Fact that they send those EMails and scam you to "come back" as well as overcharging. Those girls didnt contact u. They just wanted your money as it happened to me also on True. | |

but bear in mind ~ just because you paid for a Tenor Sax ~ don't mean you can play it. ~dar

| are the pay sites scamming us Posted: 12/18/2007 6:07:00 PM | I read about many of those pay sites on a site to report rip offs. It says that match.com isn't a pure rip off.
I am starting to distrust pay sites.
|
| are the pay sites scamming us Posted: 12/19/2007 2:11:26 AM | | I have also found them to use fake profiles, and even re-use the same pictures in many different fake profiles, with the people "living" in different locations. | |
|
| are the pay sites scamming us Posted: 12/19/2007 5:29:40 AM | Yes they are scamming us. the pay sites such as Jdate charge $60 a month. YOu cna;t even check your e-mail for free unless you pay. Most pay dating sites at least allow you to cehck your e-mail but you can;t email back unless you pay. some let you reply the e--mail of a paying member if they e-mauil you first and are a paying member. POF makes money on advertising I wish POF woudl advertise on social networking sites becuase its totally free and ther aren't too many users in my area. And I feel that sucha great site needs members especially since they are upfront and honest. E-mail and OM is totally free both ways. Every other site makes you make a free profile then ask for money to contact people. its very misleading. Who cares abotu match making.
you really don't know anyone until you talk to them or meet them and give them a chance. its really sad how people with common interests will not date you based on a few bad pictures taken witha cheap camera or tyour height/weight. What abotu meeting someone and loving them for them? I think people are too quick to judge eachother. Otehrs are too afraid to meet otherpeople online in person ebcuase they think everyone is an axe murder/rapist. Teh truth is if you meet someone in a public place such as a shopping mall everything will be fine. especially if you have a friend with you. I;ve met dates at bars, colleges, and malls. Never had a poblem. except for bad dates. And yes people lying about who they were but theywere not dangerous.
Most of the people who get hurt are uunderage teens who meet strangers online. We are all adults here. Meeting with other adults. meet in a place with lots of peoples. A resturaunt or a mall. Donut shop. Star Schmucks. You name it!
The pay sites are overpriced, Hell I use a fre antivirus as good as norton why pay for a dating site? POF rules!
|
| are the pay sites scamming us Posted: 12/19/2007 5:31:24 AM | The answer to this question, as so many have already voiced, is yes. Pay sites are scams these days. The sites are filled with spam-bots that send you that ever familiar email "hey, saw you profile and loved what you wrote. I'd love to meet you. Go to this site to see more pics of me, and don't worry, it's totally free. I only use it to see who is serious about meeting me. You only need a credit card to verify your age"......yeah, right. Do we all look like we have "SUCKER" tattoo'd on our forehead?
And then you have eHarmony....a site that was exposed as having "fillers".....profiles of women supposedely on the site in your area, but who actually dont exist at all. They are the worse, they charge the most, and actually have the lowest success rate of all the pay sites. Not the the other sites don't do this as well, but they weren't stupid enough to get caught doing it.
Thats why I like POF....free, and actually has people here who are real and actually want to get to know you at times.
|
| are the pay sites scamming us Posted: 12/19/2007 8:05:29 AM | | I have no choice but to believe that they are. As for myself, early in 2007, I lost over $1200.00 to a local matchmaking institution. So while POF is not perfect, at least you don't have to spend money on this site. | |
|
| are the pay sites scamming us Posted: 12/20/2007 11:59:24 AM | There are pay sites that lie about being free. I read about many pay sites as rip offs on rip off report and people were saying to stay with POF for an Internet date.
I know of true.com with forged billings.
|
| are the pay sites scamming us Posted: 12/20/2007 1:42:20 PM | True.com keeps sending me emails saying all these profiles have either winked or emailed me. They sent me a note that a profile winked at me, and it was a buddy from highschool, that I still keep in touch with...so I was ribbing him about the wink, and he told me he has not logged in for over 6 months!
Last week, I was notified that over a dozen men meeting the search criteria I entered winked at me...and one was my exboyfriend...I will die if he got the same message, I dont want him thinking I winked at him...cause I so did not! And I know for 100% certainty, that he did not wink at me. He would never do that.
What a crock! | |

| are the pay sites scamming us Posted: 12/20/2007 2:03:38 PM | | Yes, I have to agree with the other responses here. on Yahoo if i have my picture posted but am not paying, it stays pretty quiet, just a few here and there, but as soon as i sign up, all of a sudden they coming flooding in. | |

| are the pay sites scamming us Posted: 1/23/2008 10:07:42 PM | A LOT of sites just Tease you into a Paid Membership . . and give NO results . . Most of the Really Excellent 'Profiles' there are posted by the Employees !! Some even have the GALL to add little disclaimers on their Fake profiles . . like . . ' ..this member is a consultant...supplied to increase participation and interest in our site...'...etc... In other words . . ~You'll have a better chance building a Snowman in Bermuda, than even *Dating* this 'person' ~ It's all Teasing and $$$Profiteering$$$ . . !!! | |

| are the pay sites scamming us Posted: 2/5/2008 5:56:22 PM | 1. We banish anyone who is extremely rude, has anger management issues, uploads fake pictures or is otherwise unfit to date.
2. Unlike traditional Dating sites we don't put a pay wall between you and everyone you try and contact. 3. Social Dating is all about giving you tools you need to help YOU find someone. Traditional Paid Dating sites care about the exact opposite, raising prices and trying to keep you around longer. If paid dating sites gave you what you wanted they'd go bankrupt.
4. We delete and banish scammers, its easy to do. Traditional Paid Dating sites have little interest in deleting fake profiles because they could convince you to pay for the service.
This is a reason to not use pay sites anymore.
I don't think that the pay sites care whether or not we find that special someone. Greedy crooks might've taken over them. They should be shaped up by better people while those greedy crooks go to prison on fraud charges.

| are the pay sites scamming us Posted: 2/6/2008 3:16:27 AM | | Virtually every dating web site that requires payment has a scam element. What makes me laugh is that some of those very same sites advertise on POF! | |
|
| are the pay sites scamming us Posted: 2/6/2008 4:02:33 AM | | I didn't bother to read all 11 pages so if this has been mentioned forgive me. is another completely free site. Lots of singles but I confess I haven't had any more luck there than I have ever had anywhere else but it is free. | |
|
| are the pay sites scamming us Posted: 2/11/2008 4:40:01 AM | | There are people that think the pay sites need to be shut down. There's still a site called amatuer match and that's a pure rip off. | |

| are the pay sites scamming us Posted: 2/11/2008 7:23:57 AM | Does anyone have any information about SINGLES NET.COM? SINGLES NET.COM SINGLES NET.COM
Do you have trouble getting off that site? Do you find that they charge you when you think you are off? Any one have any info on them?
|
| are the pay sites scamming us Posted: 2/11/2008 11:18:27 AM | | I won't ever go on another pay site. I think that it's ridicoulus to pay sites just to have an Internet date. This is why I asked for many contacts of mine to help me find a girlfriend. | |
|
| are the pay sites scamming us Posted: 2/12/2008 12:09:07 AM | EHarm(ony)doesn't even allow you to see pics of any members unless you pay!***holes.. As for Match.com,I would never join.Well, one reason being is the thought of putting money into "Dr"Phils pockets makes me want to vomit. Of course,I don't have anything good to say about POF either.. | |
|
| are the pay sites scamming us Posted: 2/12/2008 12:17:07 AM | I had a profile on American Singles. My inbox was flooded by messages from women that were supposedly interested in me.B.S. I did find 1 woman several miles from me that I was very interested in.I Google searched her AS username and managed to track her down.We exchanged emails for a while and I was really hoping to meet her.I should have known better than to get my hopes up.A month or so later, she sent me an email saying that she was now living in Oklahoma. I was heartbroken for a day or two.
So,i do NOT reccomend American Singles.I have no idea what they do with ones credit card info.
|
| are the pay sites scamming us Posted: 2/12/2008 4:44:06 AM | I would stay with this site or meet Christians or OK Cupid rather than the pay sites. I even us myspace. I am on that site for everything.
There were people successful with match.com. I don't think that anyone is successful with the dating services that cost money these days. I think that most people computer dating are in community chats rather than dating services.
