That story has gotten quite distorted over the ages. What really happened was that woman was created first, but she was created with three breasts. The extra breast got in the way a lot and she finally asked god to removed it. God did but was puzzled as to what to do with the useless boob. That's how man was created.

I met a guy on here. We dated for 4 months. He would drive an hour and a half to come and visit me several times a week. I was so captivated by him. When I looked into his eyes, It would make me feel butterflies like when I was a little kid! We did things, went out, he hung out with my kid, I really thought he was the answer I was looking for.
Then abruptly, he decided he didnt want to see me anymore. I didnt contact him at all. A month and a half went by, then he calls me. He told me everything I wanted to hear. He missed me, how he cared about me....Blah blah blah. I bought every word. So I let him come over...
We had sex, and as we are lying in my bed, he is re-iterating to me that he missed me soo much, petting my hair...Then he tells me he has met someone...On here, and that he "digs her".
Wow right?
Yea I'm an idiot for letting him back in. Lesson learned? sure dont give them a second chance!!
Ugh. This is totally why being the cat lady seems so apealing. | |

Posted: 5/29/2008 1:55:44 AM | Wow this is an interesting thread. I only read the first few pages but I imagine the rest of the thread follows the same pattern as those posts.
When our society puts too high a value on how a person looks we end up with a lot of people who are full of themselves and yet are pretty shallow once you get to know them. In other words a "jerk".
There will always be people who rate a possible mate by shallow measures. How a person looks, do they have large muscles, tattoos, what kind of car do they drive, how much money do they make. I am sure you can think of many more.
To each their own right? I'm not saying I understand it, but I don't begrudge someone for living their life that way.
Besides, have you gotten to know these people? I'm sure you'll find them to be be boring and superficial anyways.
So don't dwell too much on it if it bothers you. It's not healthy. There will always be things in life that make you shrug your shoulders or shake your head.

The one we can't change, the one that is a challenge and for me I always go for the broken ones in hopes I can try to change them. However you get beaten down enough by them and you learn to see the signs and stay away from them and eventually honestly just want a nice guy. The only problem that alot women find with the "nice guys" is that they are smothering. SO it is a loose loose situation for both sexes. | |

I realize you're relating what a lot of women see with "nice guys"--not clear that you include yourself. But for women to define many or most "nice guys" as "smothering" ( not sure what that means they do, but it's obviously undesirable) is very odd. It implies that a guy who's pleasant, friendly, well-mannered, considerate, and so on--all the characteristics normal people of both sexes want in other people--must have some serious undesirable trait. Isn't that pretty cynical? Since when can't most guys just be basically decent, period?
By "alpha male," I guess you mean a confident, forceful, man. The notion that a man has to be a jerk to have those characteristics is ridiculous. If anything, just the opposite is true--guys who have the whole package are usually NOT jerks. But if a lot of women really see jerks the way you describe, it just shows a lot of them don't know much about guys. But gravitating toward jerks and shunning nice guys as somehow defective does serve a purpose--it gives a lot of women a convenient excuse for not finding the kind of men they want. | |

I once had a man tell me that women liked to be treated a little bit bad. I could kind of tell where he might think this for some reason as it happens. I could also tell that for me I did not want to date or be committed to him. Not into that at all. | |

Posted: 6/15/2008 3:13:42 PM | Everyone knows roughly what "jerk" means, but I suspect people vary a lot as to what they think makes someone qualify. I've never spent much time in Orange County, so I don't know whether guys there are especially likely to do things that make women consider them jerks. But I've also lived in Missouri and Arizona, and people there didn't strike me as very different from people here.
I know firsthand that it isn't only men who can act like jerks. And I doubt that normal women long for jerky men any more than normal men dream about jerky women. I've had some brief dealings with unpleasant, "mad-at-the-world" harpies, and I couldn't get away fast enough. But I'll never believe that most women resent men in general, or imagine they somehow have a right to. And I hope most of them don't believe the jerks they've run into are typical of all guys. I also hope most women don't think "nice guy" means "weak-willed chump," like a couple posters seemed to. What on Earth is THAT notion about? | |

I had a roomate years ago. He lived with me for nine months and slept with well over 50 different women during that time, having as many as 3 different women in one day.
Women often called the house and asked me questions, trying to find out more about him. I mostly just listened to them. I tried to stay neutral and just listen and learn. I didn't reveal details about my roomate's personal life, nor did I tell him that they were asking probing questions about him. I often asked them the same two questions, being careful not to reveal my roomates business to them. It was sort of a personal survey.
1. (me) "What about the guy?" (women) "What guy?" (Me) "The guy you were seeing the day before you met my roomate, Larry". (Women) "Oh! He's a really nice guy, but Larry is soooo good looking and sexy! I know, I know. Larry has lot of women. This other guy is a really great guy, but he's too nice and kind of boring."
2. (me) "If you think that Larry supposedly has all these girls, then why would you date him? " (women) "He's so nice looking and sexy. I know he's kind of a bad boy and a player, but I think I can be the one to settle him down and tame him. Does he have a lot of girls?" (me) "I don't know, why don't you ask him?"
What did I learn? These women wanted it all. The thrill of the chase. The good looking man, who's appealing to other women. The wild stallion who needs to be tamed. The project man, who just needs the right woman to settle him down. What about the nice guy? Oh, he's the guy you call when it all crashes and burns and your life is full of drama and you need a shoulder to cry on. | |

The guy sounds like he was pretty shallow, but I have no doubt that the women that were hopping in bed with him were too.
How old were these people?
If they were in their twenties, then maybe they were looking for love in all the wrong places and faces.
Age and maturity changed my priorities and outlook, and may have done the same for that jerk. 
If he hasn't changed, he could probably make good money teaching a course to guys that only want to find girls to have sex with.  | |
