| Why do women like Jerks

In my opinion, young women, finds the aggressive, jerk attractive because of sex. A woman out on a date with a sensitive, shy, caring man knows intuitively that her chances of getting laid by him aren't that high, but with a jerk (its written all of him - his body language is clear). And so the answer is simple, younger women seek men who give out.
As women get older, they start seeing the light (usually after a decline in their sex drive) or after getting jerked around once to often (sorry for the pun, just couldn't resist it). So, they start looking for a nice guy.
Just read some of these posting by women, it confirms this view. | |

My ex (babys daddy) I was with him for 3 years of living hell- finally covinced myself to leave him over a year and a half ago... Told myself I will never put myself through that again... I thought I figured out what I wanted... SOmeone older more sophisticated, head on shoulders, been there done that kinda attitude....NOPE I was with that JERK for 9 months- He could care less if I was happy or not-- only wanted to show affection if it benifited him...So now as I am single tell myself I want the guy who is in between~~ Let her fight for your attention and then give a little and make her wait, the time of distance is good--Don't call all the time, dont bug her to spend time with you (only sometimes) act like an ass and when she is tiered of that be sweet and when she is done with that be an ass again!! you will keep her, I promiss. At least thats how I look at it be sweet but not too sweet we dont want a man without a life of his own!!--- bye for now  in redding | |

You know the kind, in and out of jail, no real direction in life, one who likes to lay around and sleep all day long, etc. None have been the "jerkish"type, just the kind of guys my gramma always warned me about. *wink* Most of the time, I wind up giving all my love, attention, and devotion to them while they go out and cheat, lie, and just be all around creeps. They never hit me or physically abused me, just took advantage of me and the love and things I could give them, but I guess I was too dumb to realize they were simply using me. Guess thats what I get. *sigh*
Love is a powerful thing, it can make or break someone, just think about this before jumping into a relationship with someone. I learned this the hard way, unfortunately.  | |

At one time they were the "nice" guy. But as the sad case that it is they were burned by some silly woman and so they hardened themselves. This is true in just about everyone. However, most woman feel that if they go for the "bad boy" then they will be accepted in society. It's the James Dean thinking. Honestly there are alot of women out there who do go for the nice guys. I am a single mom of 3 and my youngest is my son. I am teaching him to respect everyone. I teach my girls to never let anyone put them down. Reality is there are jerks in both genders and what it comes down to is personal choice, just don't be so quick to generalize all of us women. | |

Posted: 6/16/2006 2:31:50 PM | I kinda of agree. But I think many (not all) women are just gluttons for punishment. Women have lower standards now then ever before. They date way below their level for many reasons...usually the wrong ones!
That's exactly why there are so many single Moms and girls that can't seem to find a guy. I'll never forget what a beautiful woman once told me:
"I'm bored with my boyfriend because he treats me to well". If that isn't sadism and self-denial, I don't know what is? How pathetic. | |

Or, maybe alot of women, because of past experiences, have it in their head that all men are jerks, so they don't bother to wait until they meet someone decent. I, for one and like alot of the other women who have responded, can't stand jerks. You only have to do me wrong once for me to walk away, but I'm a grown up and know who I am, alot of women don't. But, this is my experience; alot of my friends have great guys in their lives, and they are not always so nice to them, then the guys cry to me that nobody appreciates them, but I do appreciate a good guy, but don't attract them very often, so maybe we just attract what we need at the time. Maybe having a jerk in your life is god's way of telling you that you aren't ready to settle down yet that you need to keep looking. | |

Posted: 6/16/2006 3:14:26 PM | I believe it to be a dominance issue. Sort of archaic in nature, but nonetheless, the whole "hit me over the head and drag me to your cave" thing is ingrained in us somewhere.
I think the sad part is that most JERKS put on the most enchanting front. They are like chameleons in the sense that they can be whoever you need them to be. It is manipulative and sad. Then once your hooked, the JERK comes out....and you are lost and in love with a dream.
Walking away from a hope for who someone could be is very hard; almost like having to leave behind a part of your soul. However, a cycle can be broken.....and hearts mend.
I am sure that there are plenty of women out there searching for a healthy love, myself included. What I believe we must do first is to listen to our consciences. Everyone knows that it is easy to ignore the "WARNING" signs put up by our inner most selves....I have argued a point with myself many a time; and it always ended up coming back to bite me in the ass...

People lump people into catagories as fast as they possibly can. Funny thing is, I think almost everyone can be exciting in their own way. We as people look at their jobs, cars, income, clothes and immediatly judge an individual. The jerks in this world know this. And prey on girls that fall for it. You wanna find a decent guy, PAY TH FAWLK ATTENTION. Most of us can pick a di*k out the moment we see them but fall prey to nice clothes, cars, muscles, ass, or whatever. You wanna find a nice guy, stop looking for the walking hardons and pick the guys that ARE nice. | |

Posted: 6/16/2006 5:29:12 PM | I feel pretty much like I fall into both of jarbarian's categories. First of all, the boy I was in high school was essentially the boy (yes, boy) I read about in the "nice guy" category. I'm trying to stop being that guy and be the things jarbarian mentions as part of a "real man". I'm basically finding that "steel core" within me, but it keeps getting covered over by emotional muck so I just crouch over and look away from girls. Essentially, I'm trying to bail when my boat already has a hole in the bottom. It starts feeling hopeless, and I know I'll need to find someone who can give me support right now, while I let myself sink and try to plug the hole, so to speak (in other words, solve my emotional problems). Then I continue bailing and eventually the man in me is free forever. It seems a bit analytical, I guess, but it is figuratively what I need to do.
As far as why women like jerks, I think it's because there's another manifestation of low self-esteem, which is called the jerk in 7th+ grades, but before that is called the bully almost universally. | |

In some cases these decisions may not coinside with what a women wants or could also be the wrong decision, but never the less the man will be unwavering. Whether it be right or wrong women appreciate a man who is confident in his decision making. If you want women to disregard you or blow you off simply give them everything they want. There are plenty of men out there who think this is what women want (wrong). Women don't want a man to walk all over. Even if you disagree with a women ,regardless of what scenario it may be you are always better off holding your ground. Why? Because even if you are wrong in the long run she will still appreciate and respect the fact you stand by your decisions/beliefs.

Posted: 6/16/2006 7:01:11 PM | because.. we like a challenge. it's true, "nice guys finish last". they're either too nice, or too mean. women don't want guys that will offer everything in a heartbeat. like men, most women like to earn things, fight for it, COMPETE. we're more attracted to a guy or girl if the opposite sex is after them all the time. we go after the jerks because it's different, it's weird and hard to understand why don't they call, why don't they care, blah blah blah, compared to the previuos guys that have kissed your ass. you're attracted to jerks because you wanna try and figure out why he's not after you like the other guys. it's a challenge to try and bend their arm. i say it because i've been through this.. most nice guys are so boring, i just get tired of them. the only good thing about jerks is that they have a good self esteem.. too good, if anything. they get too**** and think they could do what they want. women just want a nice guy, but at the same time, to be aggressive, and that he knows what he wants. it's hard to explain.. **** it's just like making a perfect pizza. all i know is that to beat the system, you gotta be the bigger jerk.. hey, worked for me.

Women by nature are nurturing and love a challenge, and view an ***hole as a diamond in the rough whose also a prick as a challenge and a beast that needs to be tamed. Women love to tame the beast. If you've got it together in a women's eyes you are "boring" and "not a challenge". If a man is already polished and a good guy women are turned off by him because they have no work to do on him (unless he has money of course because all women are whores, it's just a matter of degree). There are some really sweet women out there, but most of them are con artists and are all about smoke and mirrors. Most Generation X American women don't deserve a good man anyways, so let them bang the jerks and they're own gender. Be true to yourself guys, and don't change who you are simply to try to be attractive to some insecure **** who digs ***holes. My advice is for you to date only really exceptional American women, or go non-American. By the way ladies, contrary to what you may believe many of these ***holes are super insecure...why do you think they are so controlling? You think because they don't appear to give a **** that they are confident...it's not confidence it's insensitivity (fained or otherwise). | |

There is a British movie call The Mother. At first the mother hated her daughters lover. Then as she got to know him better, she went to bed with him. Jesus said put the other cheet, so they can hit you more. A man who laughts at the woman who calls him jerk, creep. He has a good chance at winning her heart and love.
