I don't generally bother messaging women or looking at their profiles, with a few exceptions. I know that the women on this site are buried with emails, so why bother wasting my time? When someone sends me an email, that's when I look at their profile. On the odd occasion that I do find someone catches my eye and I send them an email, it usually consists of "Hey, you seem interesting... check out my profile, and if I seem interesting let me know and we'll take it from there."

I'm mostly here because I work from home and these forums amuse me when I get bored with writing code and don't have any laundry left to do. I'm generally too busy to be lonely these days.

'oh no i get so many emails' give me a break.... ok first, yes i read the whole profiles, cant speak for other guys. 2nd, if you're so picky why dont YOU do the work, put YOURSELF out on limb, and look and find someone YOU want to talk/email with. why does it have to be a guy writing to you? 3rd, let me give you a little lesson in social practices in western culture: it has been delegated to men to initiate contact with potential mates. yes, i am aware of examples of the opposite but the vast majority of relationships were started by a guy approaching a girl, not the other way around. As a male i have learned that you must actively pursue or you never meet new women. its kind of a violent analogy but its called the shotgun approach, and social influence has made it necessary. If people said what they mean and mean what they say then it probably wouldnt be, but that is not the case. Let me give you an example: Most women would say they want a guy who's smart, sweet, caring, and trustworthy. I know lots of guys like this who have been single for a long, long time. why? i'll tell you why: females go for the 'bad boys' the liars, the cheats, guys with fancy cars, nice clothes, shiny shoes etc... A woman will sit there and complain that there are no more good guys out there and that they keep getting screwed, and at the same time they won't give perfectly honest and caring guys the time of day because of some stupid socially created status indicator, like: oh no he drives a Volvo, or something like that. So no "Vixen" no one is trying to 'change your mind on what i'm looking for' maybe they're just trying to open your mind to some thing different.

I read enough to know we would not be compatible.

If a Profile has very little info, I easily pass it as I interpret that as the Woman not having much inside her.

So PLEASE do put as much information as you can about your personality and your life's ambitions, etc. It really helps you find the right guy.

Profiles with just a few lines makes me think they only care about having a good time, sex, etc. and no emotional, spiritual or companionship relationship.

Do Try hard. You only Live once. Make the most of it.
Sometimes you can see things, an inkling of something that just might make you two work. Some character trait that could be brought out and bond the two of you.

I was really very attracted to a woman on here just last night and I went in depth into her profile and dog-gone-it, I couldn't fine any Artistic passion in her being. It was really frustrating.

And please limit your profiles to maybe ... 2 chapter of WAR and PEACE instead of the whole text.

Thank you

this whole thing about ruling someone out because of what you think in their profile has me laughing. A profile is just like a commercial...sometimes it doesn't say a whole lot about the product....sometimes it's all hype...sometimes its very simple and straightforward,...sometimes it makes you smile and remember it..... True, its all you have to go on but its not everything. I really think the forums is really the only way of seeing how a person really thinks.

Good reason to keep mine just as is. I have nothing, inside.

Sometimes I wonder what part of this.....................

"**HERE FOR THE FORUMS ONLY** "

and this.........................................

"First DateNOT APPLICABLE - taking a break from dating & relationships indefinitely."

don't some ladies understand

Even in the days I was "looking" I recall quite a few who were surprised when they met me and I smoked........says so right on my profile....."smoke often"

Well we ALL look at the pic first. Women as well. If it peaks your interest you skim the profile for key points. If you pick up on those then you read the whole profile. Thats how i do it anway

I read everything, period. I refer back to the profile IF indeed while I write a msg.

Chances are I don't send a msg, alot of ladies my age, need help with the profile. Just because you're hot, young.... nubile. Doesn't mean I am going to msg you... You must peak my interest!

I often respond to pictureless profiles, aslong as they are well written and have something clever about them.

Much love

I try but those that I can't because they are russian novels and I can feel myself getting older just reading them I don't bother with.
I have a question for ladies in the flip Why do you have to write so much? I can understand you have a clear vision of the man you want but please find a way of discribing it in less words.

I read profiles of those women that have a photo because i want to see what you
look like. if looks are ageeable to me, then I read the entire profile.
I have included a photo of myself in my profile for the very same reason.

I do not judge by looks alone - you may be very pretty but have a personality that conflicts with me, and, at the same time, a girl may be OK looking but have have a bubbly, cheerful. and warm personality that really attracts me. Unfortunately, this you really can not tell
from a profile alone but we can try.

I only click on profiles with photos. I'm not interested in dogs. Once I open the profile, I read the headings--height, children, etc. Then I look at the photos before reading the profile. The moment I find something that makes the women unacceptable, such as children, looks, etc., I stop, Only if I read the entire profile will I send an email.

I don't think a lot of guys read complete profiles anymore cuz they ALL read the same....same lines...same cliches...same wants...same fantasies...same old same old! It's a cut 'n paste world out there. Different faces....same game!

Just becasue a profile is not long winded, doesnt mean someone is shallow and looking for a good time. Mine is short and sweet, because quite honestly, I hate talking about my self. I can assure you that there is depth to me, spiritually, emotionally and all other "llys" lol. I just dont feel that my life needs to be an open book, written on a profile..this is a great thread.

I always read the profiles prior to sending an email, looks are important of course and I would be lying if I said they were not. However theres not much point in me emailing you if I dont like what I read- and I dont care if you are the sexiest women alive!! true beauty is so much more than just what you see :)

I dont know many relationships that lasty simply because the people in them are attractive..

Apparently guys don't read the profiles.. my profile states i'm here for the forums and CELIBATE to boot!! and my profile title says "Please read Profile b4 sending email" and guess what??? I still get the idiots saying I read your profile you sound intersting can we get to know each other..

when I respond.. well thanks for the email.. since you read my profile i'm sure you understand my reasons for not looking for a romantic relationship and the reason i'm celibate.. etc etc.

and then I never hear from them again.. shock shock.. the idiots only read my profile title and emailed me..

sort of pisses me off but some things are fun..

I read the whole thing. The necesssity of this should be obvious. It's where the woman describes herself.

This shouldn't even be an issue.

Come on everyone, if you can't take 30 seconds to maybe 2 min. to read someones profile, what does that say about you?, honetly lol....attention deficit? lol

And for those of you who don't want someone to know everything about you if you put it all in your profile?.....is that all you have to offer that it's ALL there in your profile? You have nothing else for the person to get to know? You should be able to write paragraph afrer paragraph about yourself, and there still should be a ton of things about you that someone can find out on their own if they are interested. If not then you need to acquire more interests about yourself lol.....

Or you can keep it short and sweet, and leave a little mystery, they both work well if done right.

To me, it's not about how long or how short the woman's profile is as to what is "IN IT".

Personally, I don't care for the profiles that are all "I don't like this, and hate this, and don't like guys who are this, and if you are like this than don't bother e-mailing me"...

"I" hate that stuff, and to me personally, shows a little hostility and that you had some idiots in the past, so now I gotta assume and try to bang down the door just to get to know you, nope, not here.......

try some things that you like, interests!!!!!! What can ( YOU ) offer? What a stretch. You can list categories of forums you like in your profile, so why not elaborate a little more? I personally like to read profiles that tells me what they like to do, museums, painting, sports, playing sports, playing with their kids, going to the beach, romantic dinners, going to nice restaurants, etc.

What do you want in a man? And no that doesn't mean what ("DON'T") you want in a man, how about what you ("DO") want in a man for a change??????? and come on, what's with the "LISTS"? We aren't something you pick up on Laundry Day that you "check off".

That is the problem nowadays. I think that alot of women (and I say alot... not all) are too wrapped up into what the (DON'T) want instead of being more about what they ("DO") want and what they ("DO") like IN A MAN.

You all can do and say what you want in your own profiles, it's a free Country, but coming from a man's perspective, my own, this is what I have noticed and felt being on this site and some others as well.....even a bunch of the female friends I have on here share the same thoughts reading men's ads. There's no right or wrong, but it's more what I or some would like to see more of, instead of the negativity or blandness.

Just my 2 cents from reading a zillion profiles

Awaitingyu, my sentiments exactly. With me it the tone.

Of course a woman should state what she is looking for. And, it is okay to state what doesn't want. And, I don't mind her saying, "If you are or are not this or that, I will not respond." However, if she uses harsh words such, "Then move on" or "Pass me by" then I will pass everytime, although they are almost never describiing me.

I really think the forums is really the only way of seeing how a person really thinks.
