| Do you Women read Our profiles at all??
Posted: 9/8/2006 4:59:03 AM | I would like to ask mainly the men this question.
When you DO read the profile from top to bottom, and it includes the old "not into one night stands" (cough cough bull$hit cough) thing, do you believe it? Do you think it's one of those things that HAS to be in there for appearances? I know some of them mean it, but I can't even start to tell you how much first date sex I have had in my life. (Not recently, mind you, but back when I was young.)
Has that become a cliche in the female profiles like the "walk on the beach" thing? Man, if I see one more person in Wyoming or Colorado talk about walking on the beach...
Unless you are counting the sand traps around the 17th green, YOU HAVE NO BEACH WHERE YOU LIVE!!!!
The point of asking this question is this. Even if we DO read the profile from head to toe, how much of it should we believe anyway? Between 10 eyar old photos, "I look much younger", "friends tell me I'm attractive (hang onto those friends!)" and all of it, isn't the profile sometimes a waste of time?
Of course this comes from someone with a profile that scares people away faster than the Headless Horseman.... | |

And yes I agree with the previuos post some of the pics are just too old ,there's no reason for outdated pics.I know women that send me messages do read my whole profile,,there are certain indicaters in there replies. | |

And although I do enjoy a walk on the beach, guess I spent too much time there, as I have no desire to put it in my fav things to do. Although if someone were to ask me, I am sure I would love to. FireFighter, yes, I read the forums a lot, and it is amazing how much more you can get from them about the person than what you can read (into) from their profiles. Too bad not everyone enjoyed the forums as much as we do......  | |

Sweetie.......Believe it or not, there are *some* of us that say it and actually mean it! I know you must find that very hard to believe since you apparently like to jump in the sack with every girl you meet. Okay.....I'll back off.......it's not really your fault you feel that way if girls let you have anything you want when you first meet them. Notice that I'm not referring to them as "Ladies", either!
I do agree with you about the OLD pictures on the profiles........some of the men are guilty of that, too. However, for the most part, the people that I have met in person actually look much better than the pictures they took in the bathroom with their digital camera! What's that all about anyway with the bathroom pictures! Must be good lighting or something?
And, yea, I'm with you about the walk on the beach thing. LOL! I live in Florida, so I can get away with saying that. (gg) But, like you said....if you live many, many miles from the beach, it does look a bit silly! Hugs, Kat (One that is definitely not into one night stands!) | |

My question was, do women put it there with the thought process of "If I don't say this they assume that I DO want sex on the first date and think I'm an easy lay?" I could tell you road stories from my days as a musician about one nighters..... just not in public. 
And for the record, I'd give you 2 nights...

Only the ones who want to. And that is an extremely gender bashing, sexist remark. Can you tell me honestly that women don't like to "jump in the sack" with every man they meet? (See the "musician" clause above.) Possibly the women who post 8 photos of their cleavage, butt, and whatever the censors let them get away with? (I remember when "class" counted....)
I can't get the "self photo with cell phone cam" thing either. You don't know ONE PERSON who could snap your frickin' picture??? If you don't you really need to get out more! And don't they see that the flash in the mirror wipes out the photo? Geeze, go to Kinkos and get a passport photo taken! Or figure out how to use the timer on your digital camera. And at least CLEAN the bathroom first. Nothing sexier than a photo shot in a mirror with dirty towels and underwear hanging in the background, is there?
That photo is the first thing someone sees about you. Not everybody is a model or movie star, but man, show your best stuff right up front.
Whenever I see that "walk on the beach" thing I honestly laugh out loud. Have you ever seen the beaches of Lake Erie? First of all, it's an hour drive for me to find sand. Then there's the dead fish to deal with, and the rodents eating those dead fish.... Correct me if I am wrong, but that doesn't sound romantic to me.....
Of course I don't have to worry about any of this. The only women who would contact me after reading my profile are adrenaline junkies and thrill seekers. Oh, and those who think they can "fix" men.....  | |

I think women just get really tired of so many men assuming they are an easy lay on the first date.....not all men, just a lot of them. Of course, I suppose you really can't blame men for trying. I'm sure they will score with some women, so why not try! But, because of that, I think that's why they put that in their profiles.

Oh my God.......that is a hoot!!!! You are just tooooo funny! You pretty much said it all!!! (Laughing out loud!!) You wouldn't believe how many people that I've met in person that I say......."Hon, you really need to update your pictures.......SOON!" I don't think people really "get it" that the picture is the first thing people see and if it's a crappy picture, you can forget actually meeting someone.
Don'tcha LOVE meeting the people that weigh about 200 pounds more than what they look like in their pictures? LOL! I guess they think you won't notice the extra weight when you meet them??? Duh!
Now, Mr Eastsideeddie........do ladies actually think you need fixin'? You'd think by the time you get to our age, they'd figure out that nothing's broken that needs to be fixed! Gosh, I'm in better shape now than when I was 20 years ago!

i'm very surprised by the number of women willing to tell EVERYTHING in their profile. ladies, save some info for the email.
it's imperative to read the whole profile. i'm a little allergic to cats so if she has one i take that into consideration. | |

Why even bother reading the profile when it's obvious that some on here must have been 'marketing majors' who use those old tried and true 'bait and switch' or 'lost leader' strategies by putting ten year old 'GLAMOUR SHOTS' on the store front....only for you to walk in and the merchandise just aged ten years with several 'scores' of poundage on the remaining display pictures.....No sense in responding, let alone READING anything further when it's clearly misrepresented from the start......... | |
