that' s a big turn off for me ....my goodness how can you kiss him in the mouth YAK,..does bacteria in his teeth will cause him a heart attack in the future. he really need to see a dentist. | |

I am 30 yrs old and I have dentures, not because i was too lazy or didn't care to brush, but I had severe calcium deficiency, when I was little, i couldn't have milk only soy, until i was 5 or 6, and still can't handle much of it, however, I take calcium supplements. As far as going to the dentist, between my ex and I we made about 40K a year, neither of us had med. insurance through work and with kids, there isn't much left for dental bills, but I had a good friend who talked to her dentist and he arranged to have my teeth pulled and my new ones made and all I had to pay was the lab fees...he did it probono (charity). Unfortunately not everyone gets a break like that. If it hadn't been for those circumstances, I suppose my teeth would still be bad. | |

Posted: 3/17/2007 1:32:32 PM | Some people have it in the genes, others like my nephew were allergic to the antibiotic he was given (I don't remember which one now, it was one of the 'cillins I think) and it rotted all his teeth but luckily it was his baby teeth.
Go on Ebay and type in Teeth Whitening. It is against the law to sell anything stronger than 6% over the counter, but you can find 22 and 35% with no problem. I've bought the 35% and it works great.
Sometimes, someone not taking care of their teeth is tied to deep rooted psychological issues. Sometimes they are lazy.
I dated a very nice person that had the most god awful teeth but it wasn't her fault and I was glad that eventually she became comfortable enough around me to be able to laugh without putting her hand in front of her mouth.
Remember that back in the day, the Romans would use an ammonia based agent to whiten their teeth and walking around with really white teeth wasn't so looked upon as being important because that whitening agent? Yup...your own urine...thank god for progress...EW! | |

However as for the "what else don't they take care of" line of thinking you have to look at the rest of whohe is.. Is his hairclean ?does he smell? what does his car look like? how are his clothes maintained?
Now, this may cost me "hits" and responses but that is the way it goes! I had perfect teeth until I turned 18 then disaster hit =4 impacted wisdom teeth that have now pushed my teeth out of alignment causeing my gums to bleed and crushing a few teeth as well! The cost to remove the wisdom teeth ? try like $1800 a piece!i brush my teeth 3 or more times a day and have most of my life ( ok at age 10 I wasn't so good about it ) as well as using whiteners and paying the dentist to clean and whiten them it cost 200 and lasted a week before the stains came back now I am making no excuses but it may be worth your time to ask them and find out what his/her story is you may be surprised it might not be because of a sloven disregard for their teeth or apperance.And yes I am currently trying to get them fixed but at least for me and my line of work you may be able to get health benefits but I have never had the oppurtuinity for dental insurance! Oh wait there was one company that offered it but 2 days after I became eligible for the dental plan they discontinued it because it cost the company to much money! I do smoke and that adds a little to the complications of appearance but I have quit drinking anything with caffeine in it ( that only leaves water and when I drink alcohol its vodka ) but the fact remains the damage has been done and the only way to undo it is remove the all and get falsies for a price tag of about $20,000. So don't say "Just go to a dentist" it is not always that easy. Let me ask you this how would you feel if some guy told you all that cellulite around your ass and legs is disgusting to look at why don't you go exercise and get rid of it( and for those of you that don't know this..exercise can never get get rid of the cottage cheese effect only surgery can remove it) | |

Posted: 3/21/2007 8:59:06 AM | HAHAHA is it 90% or 98% of woman have cellute INCLUDING models, but that's besides the point. It's all a matter of personal preference. I don't expect perfect teeth, mine aren't perfect either and I have no intention of fixing the small imperfections. I just can't date someone with gross teeth. It's too distracting. I'm a face person (and hair) those are the first things I notice about a guy.
Someone asked for an opinion and them many get all bent out of shape when people give honest ones. Relax people. | |

As for teeth, it is like anything else on someone. If it a natural thing then it is not that big a deal if the issues are fairly minor. However signs of obvious neglect to any part of someone's body is a turn off. The more obvious the mor difficult it is to overlook. | |

Angel, the fact that you couldn't tolerate milk as a young child should have nothing to do with your calcium deficiency. There are plenty of other sources of calcium, soy being just one. Asians consume virtually no milk, other than their mother's breast milk as babies and they don't lose their teeth in their 20s. My daughter also was allergic to cow's milk, so I fed her soy formula until she was two, then soy 'milk', until she started sneaking cow's milk and cheese all the time when she was 10 or 11. But her teeth are very good. I feel sorry for you that you must wear dentures at such a young age.

Posted: 9/29/2007 9:17:45 AM | | this post is kinda old but thought i would reply anyway. well i just got to say i think every person who would not give someone a chance because of their teeth is extremely shallow judgemental and just not a good person overall. i mean its not a situation of being overweight or being real skinny or dressing bad. all those are simple things to fix. me with bad teeth...i wish i could just do sit ups and run for a few months and cure the problem. my teeth arent brown but they are broken. for those of u who arent aware...dentist dont really care if u need restorative work or one of these people who just want perfect teeth. the rates are outrageous. insurance companies see it the same way..so they might cover x rays thats about it. im looking to fix mine is gonna be easily over 5000 dollars...maybe more thats just a guess.... so my question is for all u people who reject people because of their teeth. what would u say if u saw that same guy at another time and had the problem corrected..say u had to tell someone u rejected them before and why...well personally i think that teeth reason being the only one..would just make u look stupid.. | |

It's a major turn off for me, if he doesn't go to the dentist or keep himself clean and fresh. Another turn off for me is when you meet up with your date and he smells like he has just finished cooking. Yuck! Take a shower before you go out guys and don't forget to floss. We like you clean and fresh. | |

Many people have fake, false and veneers in their mouth these days. I would and have dated women that have had dentures, crowns, veneers and other dental work done.
