Barry without steriods would be a decent hiyyer who hit 30 to 40 homers a year and a hell of a lot of long flyouts,so I never understand why people say it doesn't make a difference. It's a clear cut example of a screwed up society,do whatever it takes as long as you get paid, and ignore the rules.Cheering for Barry makes as much sense as cheering the O.J.verdict.It isn't about race,it's about class, something neither of those two have.

While I agree in that it is not just about race but also about class,.....and I would say that Henry Aaron has more class than Barry Bonds, I would not classify Barry Bonds on the level as an O.J., as O.J. is (most likely and evidently) a criminal who did a unconscouable, abominable act.

Barry Bonds atleast has some integrity in him and is reasonable and has some class in him.

And you think most of the pitchers he's hit against don't use drugs/steroids? Guess again.

I am in a very competitive sport even at the amateur level...I know for a fact from personal experience that the guys I fight that Juice are much stronger then the guys who are natural..so when you factor in the use of steroids into Bonds situation you should account for about a 20%- 30% gain in strength when on cycle...according to everyone with whom I have spoken who juices..therefore off the juice he would have still had over 500 homers but nowhere near 756...as for pitchers who juice thats another story...when they go for an all time record then we can talk...one other thing he admitted before the committee that he had taken steroids but he didn't know they were steroids...thats the dumbest thing I have ever heard, no competitive athlete ingests anything unless they know exactly what it is!

How original.
Get caught doing wrong and claim "But everybody is doing it!"
Everyone is not doing it and by accusing respectable athletes who dont, you disgrace them and their careers. Pity...

When I was a kid I thought that athletes were like superheroes.
They ran faster, hit harder, and out performed the average man or woman
because they were just more dedicated that most of the rest of us.
I thought that it was an instinct that they were born with that made them
want it more than the rest of us.
I thought that maybe they were out there practicing longer than I would.
That they were training harder than I would.

You know what? That is the case with good athletes.
They work extrodinarily hard to get where they are.
They practice longer, they work harder, they take more time than the rest of us.
They take care of their bodies, they train, they succeed by doing.
But men like Barry Bonds put a shadow and black mark on the efforts of the
rest of those good athletes.
Sure Barry Bonds is gifted, and worked hard, but he also cheated.
He wanted an extra advantage, and in taking that advantage he dishonors
every single person that got where they are on talent alone.
Sure there are many others like him,
and they all deserve to be drummed out of whatever
game they play.

So you think all athletes take drugs, and you know this how Keyman?
You're going to try and tell me that Bonds never took steroids?
when in his own words " I unknowingly taken steroid creme or something like that?" how does one unknowingly take something?

Some of the drunk drivers should use that line the next time a Cop pulls them over, "sorry officer I unknowingly drank too much, all I had was Salmon marinaded in something my bartender at the restaurant gave me"

How does one bulk up so much, yes its must be working out on the weights thats right
As gifted as Bonds is, he had help.

I have spent considerable time thinking about this subject since the steroid stories began showing up on our national conscious. At first I thought Barry Bonds and the rest of the major leaguers should be denied entrance into the hall of fame. But the more I thought about it, my conclusion is, why should I care. If they are willing to put substances in their body which may have serious long trem effects. why should I care. After all I get a more entertaining product on the field. Besides you dont think major league baseball wasnt aware of steroid use among its atheletes. You see you cant have it both ways. When Mc Guire and Sosa were piling up the home runs during that magical summer, no one from the majoer league office complained. As far as Bud Selig is concerned he is an embarrassment to the game. He is incredibly disengenuous and hypocritical. To actually attend the game tying without acknowledging the achievemnent was pretty embarrassing. Why attend thew game if youre not going to acknowledge what just happened. This guy is the commissioner. Oh and by the way the home field advantage in the October world series is still determined by a meaningless all star game played in July. Heres my last point, yeah the guy took steroids, but so did a lot of other players. How can you determine who is guilty and who isnt? Besides cheating is a problem that has existed in baseball since the game was invented. Does the name Gaylord Perry mean anything to you?

Im sorry but the drug/steroid problem is too important and too big to trust any athlete. The thruth is that there is much at stake in sport, too much money involved to trust some ''respectable'' athlete. I mean Lance Armstrong is suspected of taking steroids! nobody ever suspected this guy ! you cant trust anyone in this business, sorry.
For myself, drugs are not a factor anymore and if you can hit 756 home run, you can hit! steroids make you big and strong but they dont give ANY TALENTS...

Congrats to Barry Bonds on the new home run record. I am happy for the guy. I think in many peoples hearts and minds, Henry Aaron will always be the home run king, especially because of this steroids scandal going on involving Barry Bonds and others. But I still feel good for Bonds. He is a great player and will be in the Hall of Fame in my opinion.

a lot of people who are in barrys corner seem to forget that he admitted taking steroids. he said that he didn't know what they were at the time. a world class athlete who doesn't know what he's putting into his body??? ok. but as i've stated on these pages before. i'm not so sure what these guy take is any different than getting laser surgery on the eyes or throwing a spitball. and to take it a step further , let them all take the stuff if they want. then it will be a level playing field. we need to focus on keeping this shit from our young athletes in high schools. because the professional athlete is already tainted.

What bothers me most is that these Human Growth Hormones mutate a man's sperm and causes Leukemia in their children. It is an epidemic in Hockey and in Baseball.

Here in Washington half the team has children with Leukemia.

Scary that people would care so little for kids they plan on Fathering.

Barry Bonds knew he was on Steroids. The shame is that he was so good he probably would have gotten the record without steroids as his body would not have broken down as it has.

Babe Ruth will always be the Home Run King anyway.

I never had a problem with Bonds prior to the allegations. He was anti-media, which I sort of dig sitting in front of the tele, but he's indicative of the erosion of a pastime, that's what's discomforting to me . As another poster observed, A-Rod will pass him in the next 6-8 years provided he's healthy, and as far as I know he's clean, but I don't really follow the game as avidly nowadays due to the corruption. Thank God for ESPN sport classics.

Perhaps people are in a uproar because the demise of professional sports are a reflection of all of us. Not to switch gears to much, but why should Team USA be losing any games? Is it a question of talent, ability, greed or Heart? Maybe all of the above, but certainly the later.

bonds was not all that bad with media when he was here in pittsburgh. but when it came to other people, those associated with the team like staff and other club employees he was an absolute creep.

Cal Ripken is one of my neighbors, and a nicer man who dedicated his life to baseball you will never meet. I think that was because of what his father instilled in him, his father was a no-nonsense kinda guy, and Cal is that same kind of person. Unfortunately I think the day of honor and a good work ethic in pro sports is long gone now, it's a self serving format now, with personalities going to the highest bidder.

Many whites are angry simply because he was a black man that beat a record. Yeah, I said it.

I know Hank Aaron did the sh1t too, but really, how many people do you hear talk about him. But Babe Ruth? Definately (go figure).
