| | best beer?Page 4 of 9 (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9) | here's a little trivia for you.
before WWI, you couldn't buy a beer like Budweiser very easily. most beers sold were ales (and pale ales) and stouts.
when the men went off to fight, breweries had to try and stay in business, and had to market to the people still left stateside. women.
women didn't really care for the full-bodied brews, but preferred lighter, bubbly beers.
when the men got home, these breweries were cranking out these light beers...and tastes changed.
now...don't get me wrong...if you're drinking to get drunk, or after a long hard day of physical work...one of those pansy beers tastes great. but if you're in it for the taste...try something good instead.

| best beer? Posted: 12/23/2005 12:52:27 AM | Once again this thread requires my input....
It's the season for winter beers, and this is the BC forum.
Everyone who likes good beer should go and buy the seasonal Christmas beer "Merry Monks Doppelbock" by Granville Island Brewing. Limited availability, so get one now.
BTW, Phillips Brewing Black Toque India Amber Ale is also worth a taste.

| best beer? Posted: 7/22/2006 4:50:10 PM | I buy alot of local stuff
Pacific Western Breweries - Pacific Pilsner Ever since I got to drink it straight out the vat at the brewery, thier sales have skyrocketed and Bud was left wondering "wtf happened to our sales in PG?" They also offer a great darker beer - Cantabury. Heard TNT mentioned in a post, brewed here too, not thier best offering.
Alexander Keiths from out east is some pretty good stuff too.
