Posted: 4/22/2008 3:33:01 PM | Oh, hey Edmonton people posting in the Flames thread. Just wanted to say that the playoffs are great, and with the exception of Montreal feeling it necessary to beat out Edmonton's riot a couple years back, it's been good, clean hockey.
It's too bad you guys can't even be golfing right now though. Maybe... skiing?

It was awesome when we wiped the wings out party was wild wasn't really a riot. The Habs one was cool it just was a party that got out of hand and not enough police to control it. Don't think the police were prepared for what was going to happen after the bruins got smoked 5-0. Maybe just spray painting the cop cars red would be ok.
In 2004 when the wings got dusted off I was having a beer on the red mile with a calgary police officer on duty, my idea of canadian riots is a lot different from the ones we have in football games back in Scotland and england. so don't take it the wrong way we don't want to kill our opposition fans usually just make them feel like sh*t.
and PS Edmonton is my city, Calgary just happens to be my team and if the Oilers make the finals again I will cheer for them again.
Just hoping the flames can win tonight, I know a lot of people would love to see the flames and habs in the final again, sure don't need to see colorado or dallas win the cup

Reminds me my parents had their 25th anniversary a few years back we went back to scotland and watch our home team knock the champions out of the Scottish cup it was in our town too but there was no riot but a few celtic fans got murdered. I don't mind sports riots as I was raised with them but sometimes they get way out of hand like when the Giants beat the Patriots this year and when the red sox came back from down 3 games to none those riots were pretty stupid. People have to realize that when it comes to a game 7 it's no longer a series but 1 game do or die couple of mistakes end your season.
As one guy posted before this is a regular thing every weekend back in scotland england and ireland. Plus the military won't wo near the matches afterwards.
I'll say go flames go but as we all really want is go Canada go. also the IIHF Under 18 canadians beat the swedes and are in the final.
I better stop posting until we win or lose but 6-0 I like my chances so I better go get my beer before people burn the liquor stores down here, would melt the snow at least.

I imagine it's half and half in the city but I see a lot of flames jerseys in the last 2 days and a lot of hab jerseys at lunch time. Just be patriotic and cheer for your country, a lot of oiler fans had flames flags on their cars in the flames run and a lot of people in winnipeg and calgary had oiler flags vs the canes. when it gets to regular season we can hate each other and battle but the cup belongs in canada and I WANT IT BACK! Just don't ever want to see the Nucks win it.
PS what does deep internal sadness feel like, I know what pain and depression feel like, guessing deep internal sadness is watching 3 canadian teams in a row going to the final and getting smoked. This better end or we'll go burn the whitehouse down again. We did do it before.
I see there will be a lot of posting tonight during the game regardless of who is winning.

Cheechoo is going to play tonight doesn't seem to be that hurt so you never know but the flames have the biggest defensive core in the league and it's all on the line now so expect hard hitting. Vandameer, Warraner, Phanuef, Sarich, Acoin, Erikson Hale. If the Sharks win we'll be golfing tommorrow. Sadly you'll be shoveling snow for the next 2 weeks.
I expect this to be a 2-1 game unless kipper has more shutout magic in him, been a fun season either way unless you live in LA tampa or boston.
PS start to support your country even if it's your rival, Montreal is my rival and I still support them.
