| Choke Flames Choke Posted: 4/22/2008 9:49:05 PM | Wait, aren't you an Oilers fan?
Good to see the bandwagon jumpers in Edmonton showing their true colors. As for the Flames tonight, I have to say we just got honestly outplayed. We lagged a bit in the first getting the game started, and that cost us the game.
Good luck San Jose. | |

| Choke Flames Choke Posted: 4/22/2008 9:51:23 PM | | By the way, Spoilers fans, the better team still made it to the playoffs while your horrible team got to spend a week shoveling their sidewalks and playing NHL 2008 pretending to win the Stanley Cup again, while we did get an honest spot in the playoffs. Really. If your team's not good enough to even make the playoffs, don't be calling the team that DID get there the worse team. It really shows your intelligence, or lack thereof, when you slam a team for being better than you are. | |
|
| Always a Flame Fan Posted: 4/22/2008 9:59:26 PM | I totally agree with Ubermoogle! Flames fans are the absolute best in the league! I am very proud of our team......win or lose. We DID make it to game 7 and made SJ work their a##es off to get the first round. GO FLAMES GO!!!!! | |
|
| Choke Flames Choke Posted: 4/22/2008 10:01:05 PM | Yup we can play golf now, sad we lost but decent my buddy Roenick gets another shot at the cup, and hmm Wasn't it the Flames that eliminated the Oilers or Losers from the playoffs. we're gone too but at least we've made it 3 years in a row. Congrats to the Sharks it was good to see JR with his son.
Message kinda long timining just got off the phone with JR, 2 goals 2 assists what a night congratz to him being first star as well. So I get to eat my words now but at least as his son said we did knock the oilers out of the playoffs. Something I think I mentioned before. I'll still wear my Flames shirt during the playoffs wonder why you never see any Oiler shirts anymore. So it go habs go and if not JR go get that ring.
Close prediction Hydro I didn't think they even had 2 goals in them.
Rangerz (and hopefully no riots for Val)

| Never a Flames fan Posted: 4/22/2008 10:02:28 PM | lol @ you two, Aree and Uber. Fore!! This is what happens when an inconsistent Flames team backs its way into the playoffs. You're lucky SJ has a tendency to take periods or even games off, otherwise this series would have been over in 4 or 5 games. We called it...
JR gets free drinks on me anytime!
GO FLAMES GO!!!!!
GOLF FLAMES GOLF!!!!! | |
|
| Go Flames Go! and now Go Sharks Go! Posted: 4/22/2008 10:18:09 PM | Yup we lost Val was a good series but at least we spent the money to make the playoffs 3 years in a row. Hopefully the Oil will do that starting next season and sweet the Ducks got smoked I loved watching Pronger cry.
No one even gave us a chance after all they were I think 3 points behind the Wings for top spot, but doesn't matter anymore the better team won and advanced., and as much as a Flame Fan I can bet all the Oiler fans want to see the sharks destroy Dallas
Let the ribbing begin. But remember who got knocked out first and Leaf Fans don't even bother I'm 39 and you haven't seen the finals since hmm Beatles concerts Color TV or man landing on the moon, so before a leaf fan opens his mouth again, Geez even Lady Di wasn't a princess
"Needing constant attention" Sorry my Name is not Chris Pronger but I did like the fact of Jason Smith doing his wife for a day.
Up to the habbies now folks in Cowtown can golf and we can shovel snow all year long by the looks of it. Still I get one good thing out of the hockey season knocking the oilers out and watching them knock the Nuckz out.

| Always a Flame Fan Posted: 4/22/2008 10:21:59 PM | What a shame we can golf and you can shovel snow in -30
At least we CAN make the playoffs.

| Wondering if the courses are green in Cowtown Posted: 4/22/2008 10:34:46 PM | I love how the only comeback to the Flames being knocked out is - "Well at least we made it to the playoffs."
Wow, I guess you guys feel better now huh?
And the shot clock in the last game was almost double in the Sharks favor...worked their asses off huh?
I am just glad to see the Flames getting bounced yet again from the first round after so many people in the years past picked them to go all the way. The better team won is right...and they will hopefully get past the next round too.
And I like a good ribbing, but the comment about the Oil not making it the playoffs- got old a while back. So maybe the Flames can be the Oilers caddies on the golf course, no?
|
| GO SMYTH GO Posted: 4/22/2008 10:35:39 PM | They can take the REST of the playoffs allright.... Edmontonians said........... PFFFT hahahaaahahahaha... No way...
Sorry, but it goes without saying (right Uber?)

| Always a Flame Fan Posted: 4/22/2008 10:41:19 PM | Calgary Flames
hhhmmmm Arguably the best Goaltender in the league, a 50 goal scorer , and what TSN or CBC (can't remeber which) called one of the biggest D cores in the league. And they go out in the first round????? ok, yup, they made the playoffs this year. congrats BUT COME ON?!?!?!, you are proud of a team that has as much talent as they do, and they still do that poorly??????????
WHEN, not if, WHEN Calgary learns that this is a team sport and they show up as a team (like they did a couple of times in the series - but not game 6 San Jose sent their wifes to play) they will do a lot better, like they should. Remember folks, Hockey is a team sport, not an Iggy and Kipper shinny game. Tonight was proof that Kipper can't do everything and the Flames got beaten by a superior team.
I am saddened that I now have to cheer for Montreal to cover the Canada factor, we needed Calgary to be in, but not happening.
so, since he grew up 10 miles away, Go Brendan Morrow! (yes I know he plays for Dallas - is almost Blasphemy) and Go HABS GO! sorry Flame outs Weather network did not have good news either - no golf for a little while yet.
|
| Always a Flame Fan Posted: 4/22/2008 10:44:00 PM | ooo, almost forgot......... Best Player on the Flames team???
Edmonton's own Iggy (ok St. Albert) so while Calgary got into the playoffs, it is still thanks to edmonton - too funny!!

| Always a Flame Fan Posted: 4/22/2008 11:25:28 PM | Ubermoogle........OUTPLAYED? haha please, they just plain sucked.....even I felt sorry for the fans and kept quiet for the last half of the game..... | |
|
| Choke Flames Choke Posted: 4/22/2008 11:38:10 PM | Lagged a bit in the first Uber??? LOL
Come on now...I've been a diehard Flames fan for 20 years, always will be....no bandwagon jumping here, never have, never will...but...I'll also be the first to admit that, well...they played like shiat !!!!! Any idea how many turn overs , give aways and botched passes they had tonight? Kipper wasn't on the ball and Cujo should have been in net a lot sooner...but.....neither tender had one single moment of defense to back them up all night. Only time I even saw Phaneuf out there was when he was in the damn box. (nope, don't like the guy, never did...hated him in Red Deer, hate him in Calgary...he's an a$$, plain and simple ) 8 shots on goal in the first and they were 'lagging a bit' ??? Nope, didn't deserve the win tonight...they were outplayed from start to finish.
But...will still always be a diehard fan...through thick and thin. And Oilers fans will always annoy the hell outta me.

| Always a Flame Fan Posted: 4/23/2008 12:09:49 AM | @ sleepsalone
Jarome might be from St. Albert, but his whole career has been in Calgary. He's a huge part of the Flames, and a big contributor to our community. He's our property!

| Choke Flames Choke Posted: 4/23/2008 3:45:24 AM | We took the 2nd best team in the league to 7 games. A lot of people wrote us off in 4-5 games. San Jose only finished 3-4 points behind the wings, It won`t be next year it`ll be later this year next season. The Oilers have had more golf practice in the spring than we have but I doubt the Habs need to care about snow for a while.. Mind you had the Flames won game 7 this place would be mighty quiet :)

| Never a Flames fan Posted: 4/23/2008 3:49:11 AM | | Easy to make calls when your own team doesn`t even make the playoffs eh :) | |
|
| Wondering if the courses are green in Cowtown Posted: 4/23/2008 3:59:19 AM | Heh Heh, you`ll have to make a trip to Calgary if you want to play golf don`t know what part of edmonton you are in I`m by Stadium and we have 2-3 feet of snow mostly because the wind blows it to us. Remember one thing you need to make the playoffs to at least have a chance otherwise any team that doesn`t make it in is considered a maple leaf fan.
Some courses are open in Calgary or were don`t know what the weather was like since sunday looking out the window right now god knows when this is going away Golf anyone june or july or next spring.
Sharks go kill Dallas a team that both Calgary and Edmonton hate.
|
| Wondering if the courses are green in Cowtown Posted: 4/23/2008 4:04:18 AM | Edmonton supplies Calgary with more than just Iggy. Phaneuf was born in the City of Champions as well.
And yes, very nice to see that $31M defence step up in the second period lol. Almost as nice as your "savior" coach pulling your franchise goalie. THAT move looked brilliant two shots later!!!
Anyway, glad to hear the weather is changing for the better in Cowtown. Maybe the guys brought their clubs to SJ and they can start their real season there.
|
| Wondering if the courses are green in Cowtown Posted: 4/23/2008 4:48:55 AM | PS one thing when you miss the playoffs 2 years in a row when its the flames that eliminate you in the regular season, watch how you word hating the flames if you are an Oiler fan. Mind last year was horrible after they traded Ryan Smyth Lets see my god all the Oiler trades of recent were bad Getting rid of****ead Pronger was good. But do the Oil still have any payment on his contract. If they do I hope Jason gives his wife another go. Yikes sorry for saying that but most Oiler fans despise him anyways
ANYWAYS
Great hockey season we`re all gone but the Habs, maybe the Oilers can go down to Calgary and be caddies since they have 2 years practice at it. And before and like JR mentioned to me the Oilers and Flames have 1 thing in common they each won `1` cup without Gretzky.
As Much as I want to see a canadian team win I want him to get his ring so he can spend time with brett so what a night 4 points.
PS rarely do the flames ever outshoot a team, but stealing Kipper from the Sharks for a 3rd round pick was a laugh. Having him in net means getting outshot is a good thing. Not to mention I have about 55 Garon rookie cards. Too bad he`s on the Oilers but they will make the playoffs next year if they make him the starter.
Well Oil fans we`ll be golfing soon together I have to go back to the hospital on weds to get my nerves checked out. Might meet some of you one day for a brew, right handed so I cant exactly hold a can of beer or pop in my hand. Maybe meet Fox Zoo but she`s pissed that I used her first name here. I never came here for dating marriage or to get laid anyways. Maybe some do, I really don`t care a beer a movie or a summer walk I`m happy, so also Fox this is an appology for using your name when I wasn`t thinking I could use it. But if the Oilers would bloody makes the playoffs this thread would not exist.. Garon will get them in next year. Kipper is great but wait til you see Leyland Irving, kinda like Carey Price a year younger but better (and a Flame goalie)
Too late too much typing for me, I expect some good ribbings from our loss but as JR reminded me you can`t lose in the playoffs if you don`t make it in.
Oh ps Jr and his Son wishes everyone a happy 23rd and 24th of April. Didn`t tell me why but someone knows. Might have to google this
You all have a good nightémorning I`ll take my skypda to the hospital with me but doubt I`ll be typing for a few days.
Now before I go 1 last thing, Fox Zoo, how do you expect a person to react 17 years later you have a son. I did suspect it back then but we lost contact. Right now he means more to me than meeting any other chick, and I finally get him to meet his grandmother.
Boy is she in for a surprise.
Should be back here by friday or sat see what the docs say.
Jonboy
PS Fox you do have my alternate email to mail me at.
If all people talk about is sex bar getting laid and hating the flames let me know tell me Ièlll go somewhere else

| Always a Flame Fan Posted: 4/23/2008 5:01:18 AM | Almost asleep not a superior team just a better team in game 7 I have 2 friends on the Sharks but I still cheer for my flames. I just remind them just win 1 cup, thats all you need is that ring. I was happy with 1 ring and retired.. Theo Joe and I each have a ring, it is good when you cheer for teams, but I have a ring a lot of Oilers dont
I have held the cup18-20 pounds not heavy anyone need too rain in the flames in the future come show me your stanley cup ring.
Joe Mullen | |
|
| Always a Flame Fan Posted: 4/23/2008 5:18:36 AM | Ah but according to the historical facts I read, Joe Mullen won 3 rings All with Calgary
Joseph Mullen (born February 26, 1957 in New York, NY) is a retired American professional ice hockey player who played 17 seasons in the National Hockey League with the St. Louis Blues, Calgary Flames, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Boston Bruins from 1980-1997, earning himself a spot in the Hockey Hall of Fame. He won 3 Stanley Cups in 1989 with Calgary, and in 1991 and 1992 with Pittsburgh.
It is honestly nice to see Calgary reigned in early......... Calgary fans, i don't know why tend to be overly aggressive when they don't like when they get egged on. Having been born and raised in Ontario, living in Calgary for the last 6 years, I have watched the animosity. I am a die hard Detroit Red Wings, the teasing back east was much nicer, everyone jokingly tormented everyone........ as most were Toronto or Detroit fans with a few odd balls thrown in for good measure.
Guess what people seem to forget is, IT'S ONLY A GAME!

Hopefully he doesn't talk to himself so much outside of the forums.....but then again maybe the nuthouse has internet access.
