| Western rivalry Posted: 3/18/2009 6:00:48 AM | Well, unlike those pesky Vancouver players, our team has been unable to have 10 wins in a row, and they have a lighter schedule than the Flames, with only 3 pts separating us, we need a win tonight, so hopefully home ice will do the trick.
Ollie will skate onto the shiney surface for the first game here since joining the team , so I hope the fans in attendance give him a rousing welcome.
And to the Devils fans, put that net back!! Way to go Brodeur!!
|
| Western rivalry Posted: 3/19/2009 9:15:01 PM | What, we get 3 points from losing the lead and all the Calgary fans go into hiding??
Low score last game but it was a win, so we now have 5 point gap on those pesky Canucks!!
|
| Western rivalry Posted: 3/20/2009 12:03:53 PM | To Celebrate spring, I will go to a hockey game tonight, anyone care to join me??
Seats are in section 314, Center and row18, probably near the top, but good view of ice and the t.v. screens that they have installed up there! Drop me a note before 5:00 and will contact the lucky recipient of one seat! Game time is 7:00 p.m.
Flames vs Blues, they are "nosebleed" seats, but the price was right!! FREE
|
| Western rivalry Posted: 3/20/2009 12:48:33 PM | | Well, that didn't take long, ticket gone!! | |
|
| Western rivalry on hold tonight Posted: 3/20/2009 1:38:57 PM | Been pretty quiet down south there neighbors. I suppose with the team going into "Cowtown playoff mode" already and a couple teams coming up'n nipping at your heels it's understandable. (just ribbin' y'all )
Big night for hockey in BOTH AB towns tonight. Not just the 2 points for ourselves but we'd help one another out too.
Go Flames
PS: enjoy the game Duff | |

| Western rivalry on hold tonight Posted: 3/21/2009 12:12:52 PM | Oh................ My..........................
2006 do-over?? I hope so!!
GO OIL!! GO MAC T!! (that's right, I said it...)
| |
|
| Western rivalry on hold tonight Posted: 3/24/2009 11:39:35 AM | YAY foar the Flames and of course Osgood, who wasn't good!!
Tough battle, some good clean hits and on the right side of the win column.
Oh, and how about those Hitmen?? Makin a run for the cup in good style, and could finish it in E town!!
|
| Western rivalry on hold tonight Posted: 3/24/2009 12:19:24 PM | Who made your schedule this year? Wow... you spend 10 days out east because of the Brier, now you go back out there a week later to play the Penguins. You'd think they vould have arranged it better than that! | |
|
| Western rivalry on hold tonight Posted: 3/24/2009 12:58:35 PM | | The Flames reportedly have the worst year end schedule of the entire league, but if we can hold our own win the rest of the games, home ice advantage may make the difference this year! | |
|
| Western rivalry on hold tonight Posted: 3/29/2009 7:30:28 AM | Did anyone notice how the team looked at the ref before celebrating their "third" third goal??
They deserved that win!!
3 pts up on Vancouver, once again.
|
| |
| Western rivalry on hold tonight Posted: 3/29/2009 9:27:01 AM | That Vancouver game April 7 will be huge, as will the home-and-home against the Oilers to end the season. It'll be interesting to see whether the Oilers will still control their own fate by that time | |
|
| Western rivalry on hold tonight Posted: 3/29/2009 10:28:34 PM | | Unfortunately, Vancouver won today and now are only 1 point behind the Flames, so the next 7 games will decide who gets home ice advantage!! | |
|
| Western rivalry on hold tonight Posted: 3/30/2009 3:43:31 AM |
so the next 7 games will decide who gets home ice advantage!!
Not necessarily true, but they will decide your playoff opponent. Both Calgary and Vancouver could very well have home ice advantage for round 1.... as long as whichever team does not win the division still finishes ahead of Chicago (currently tied with Vancouver at 91 points)
Oddly enought, fourth place may be a better draw than third. I'd much rather face Chicago's goaltending than Columbus's.
|
| Western rivalry on hold tonight Posted: 3/30/2009 7:56:16 AM | In the end, it's just going to matter if we lose more games than Vancouver does.
Here's hoping we're able to keep that 1 point lead, and then win against them on the 7th.
|
| Western rivalry on hold tonight Posted: 3/30/2009 8:34:42 PM | | Heard a rumour today that Theo Fleury will attempt a comeback next season with the Phoenix Coyotes. I guess he figures if Claude Lemieux can do it, so can he. | |
|
| Western rivalry on hold tonight Posted: 3/31/2009 1:27:12 PM | Lose Canucks---lose Canucks-----lose Canucks!!!!!!
Well, we are going to the playoffs, would be nice to have home ice advantage regardless of who we end up having to face!!
|
| Western rivalry on hold tonight Posted: 4/3/2009 6:02:30 AM | Over a million people in this City and surrounding area, and I find I am the only one still watching and trusting the Flames will endure and pull off some fancy ice time over the next couple of weeks.
I WANT THE RED MILE IN WARMER WEATHER!!!
Tied point wise with the Canucks, but due to the number of wins, we have 1st place, again and for the time being
|
| Western rivalry on hold tonight Posted: 4/3/2009 6:49:36 AM | At least your neighbors to the north pop in now and then to heckle a bit so the thread doesn't get yanked for ya flying largely solo Duff.
Better rattle a few cages at the saddledome as your boys' efforts have been goin' up in Flames alot lately. We already have all the good tee-times booked up this way.

| Western rivalry on hold tonight Posted: 4/3/2009 10:13:10 AM | I WANT THE RED MILE IN WARMER WEATHER!!!
I'm not even going to chime in with the obligatory fairweather fans comment. Oh wait, I guess I just did.
| |
|
| Western rivalry on hold tonight Posted: 4/5/2009 7:00:05 AM | Thanks to the Oilers, Flames once again have attained home ice advantage for the upcoming playoffs, let's just hope they are not as anxious to win in the two final games of the season! 4 games to go, and we have to win at least three of them, a tie would be okay with the Canucks | |
|
| Western rivalry on hold tonight Posted: 4/5/2009 8:19:21 AM | Duff.........Better not send the Oilers a thankyou card just yet.........after the back to back set you'll be back in 5th again! | |
|
| Western rivalry on hold tonight Posted: 4/5/2009 9:22:17 AM | Glad to see of you diehard Oilers fans still think E town has our number!!
But I think the Flames may possibly pull this one out of the bag so to speak. The main bone of contention is the Canucks, and secondly, those pesky Oilers, they are now in the spoiler roll and from the looks of last nights game, rather enjoying it!
|
| Western rivalry on hold tonight Posted: 4/5/2009 9:26:03 AM | The Flames main bone of contention is themselves. How many of those nine losses in the last 14 games were against the Canucks? | |
