| Real Hockey in Calgary Fans Posted: 4/17/2009 7:23:42 AM | I think squid'll likely get away with it, playoffs and all, but it was a pretty ugly display. (maybe a fine if anything)
Only 12 seconds? I was flippin' around during the intermission and turned back to see the victory dance. I was like....WTF!!! had to watch the news for a replay.
|
| Real Hockey in Calgary Fans Posted: 4/17/2009 3:47:47 PM | I'm thinking the league should give Cammalleri one game. That was almost identical to Carcillo's.
I thought I'd be eating that awefull, discusting tasting Crow after the first period that saw Calgary dominate. I'm just glad a hawk dove in and ate it for me ....... Cammalleri should think twice now about waking up Havlat. Sure made em pay.
12 seconds.......... wasn't expecting that. I was just getting comfortable. During the regular season that MIGHT have been a penalty, but in the playoffs, never ever push a guy towards your goalie. It might have been soft, but I'd have allowed momentum to carry me into your goaltender as well, just as most other hockey players would have. Even Kelly Hrudy agreed it was NOT a playoff penalty. Remember Brett Hull? Buffalo should not have lost the cup like that. During that whole year, including the playoffs, a foot in the crease ment "NO GOAL".

| Real Hockey in Calgary Fans Posted: 4/19/2009 9:30:39 PM | With Calgary down 2 now you all can get a little taste of what us Leaf fans go through year after year.......
GO LEAFS!

|
| Real Hockey in Calgary Fans Posted: 4/20/2009 3:52:38 AM | ^^^ How's that? This is playoff hockey Leaf fans wouldn't understand this feeling | |
|
| Real Hockey in Calgary Fans Posted: 4/21/2009 6:50:16 AM | and now THAT was a beauty of a game.
Grinding hard along the boards and bringing the physical game Calgary's known for.
Should keep us fired up for the next couple as well! They'll never know what hit 'em.

| Real Hockey in Calgary Fans Posted: 4/21/2009 7:25:15 AM | We could be in the position of going to fight night and possibly have a hockey game break out on Wednesday night!!
Didn't take the Hawks long to clear the bench heading to the dressing room at the end of the game, I think there were 6 left there then??!! Pulling that kind of stuff with only seconds to go is not smart. It definately makes a point, but is a a mute effort to rally the team. I would suggest that there will be at least 3 fights in the first 5 mnutes of Wednesday's game, then both teams will settle down and play good hockey like they did for 57 mins. last night!!
|
| Real Hockey in Calgary Fans Posted: 4/21/2009 1:14:40 PM | Hmmm The hawks just awoke the sleeping giant.....He was in a deep sleep And now they just opened a new can of worms.....Starting in game 4 It`s going to men playing boys.....All this trashing talking is for guys that never been there before.....I hope Iggy makes them pay for opening there pie holes. GO! FLAMES GO! | |
|
| Go Calgary Flames we are Fans Posted: 4/23/2009 4:46:42 AM | Well, I didn;t see any fights at the game, but there were a lot of hits and many more near misses!!
Great plyoff hockey, even with the Hawks tieing it up in the second -- and Iggy with the first and last tally!!
Saturdays game should be a game to watch !
|
| Go Calgary Flames we are Fans Posted: 4/26/2009 8:27:33 AM | Fortunately, I was unable to watch the travesty that is now in the record books!!
Hopefully the Flames will reek havoc when they return to Calgary for Monday's game, and then take it to them in Chicago on Wednesday and go on to the next round!!
|
| Go Calgary Flames we are Fans Posted: 4/26/2009 8:34:17 AM | | Been a true home ice series so far, so the Flames should win Monday, if that pattern holds. . They may have to do it without Phaneuf though... he looked pretty dazed after that hit last night | |
|
| Go Calgary Flames we are Fans Posted: 4/26/2009 9:19:33 AM | | your a dreamer arnt you!!!lol, they always choke in the end them flames,oh wellllllllll so be it | |
|
| Go Calgary Flames we are Fans Posted: 4/26/2009 11:10:15 AM | ^^^ Nope, not a dreamer at all. The Flames have been a different team at home in this series, than on the road. I fully expect them to win Game 6 then fold in Game 7. Hey, don't misinterpret my previous posting as me being a Flames fan. I'd love to see them lose at home. I just don't think it will happen. | |

| Go Calgary Flames we are Fans Posted: 4/27/2009 9:13:51 PM | Flames will have to go and play golf in Edmonton, too mch snow down here, again!!
Definately it was the Hawks turn to advance, they have been denied for the last 13 years , the Flmes relived the last 4 years, so guess we will have to wait until next year to have another Run for the Cup!
May this thread rest in peace over the summer layoffs!!
|
| Go Calgary Flames we are Fans Posted: 4/27/2009 11:18:03 PM | I blame Bertuzzi. What a retarded moment he had. TWO GAMES IN A ROW!!!
Mike Keenan will coach for one more year, then Sutter is gonna find a way to get Brent here... I heard it on one of the sports shows, that if Brent retires to coach the Olympic Squad, then he will be good to go for 10-11.
And now their is lots of time for rest and recuperation for the Flames, may there be good things next year.
|
| Go Calgary Flames we are Fans Posted: 4/28/2009 1:08:47 AM | | I thought I'd do the decent thing and not rub it in. Damn! It's soooo hard! Anyway, I don't know why so many people thought acquiring Bertuzzi was a good thing. Honestly, I predicted that he may play well for some of the regular season, but he eventually will revert back to his old form. Just a selfish, selfish player and a cancer in the dressing room. As for the rest of the team, some changes have to be made. Every year the pundits claim that the Flames are an elite team that is poised to do some damage in the playoffs, but the reality is that there are some glaring deficiencies and there are certain intangibles that they haven't shown since 2004. | |
|
| Go Calgary Flames we are Fans Posted: 4/28/2009 8:09:24 AM | you know, none of the pundits were picking on Bertuzzi, except after the first peiod for his bad penalty. anyway What I did hear was guys concerned about where the ownership will start looking, Keenan, Sutter, for starters. Then on to what about Iggy? 2 points in the series - he needs to be better if he is the Icon and Leader of this team. Kipper needs to do goalie fundamental training as he spent most of the series on his belly and that is not how you stop pucks or trust your defence. they were also talking about Jokinen (?) but I watched alot of the series, he mght have been their best. What about Camilleri? or the so called unimaginative offensive system of a stagnant coach (sound familiar?).
Simply put, Calgary's 4 or 5 good players got beat by a better team. Yes Calgary shut down the offence of Havlat and Towes, but what happened? Byfuligen was on the ice for all but one of the goals - who the heck is he? but a great job and a great series.
Congrats Blackhawks Sorry Flameouts.

RBG I am going to hold on the Keenan not going anywhere, we will see. you are probably right, but I wonder how peeved the ownership group is, that will be the determining factor.
|

Keenan isn't going anywhere... but I could see Cammalleri heading 300km north
Can't agree on this one rBg. If Sutter doesn't dump Keenan, Flames will meet the same fate next year. Iron Mike lost his edge years ago and I also have to wonder WHY the star players didn't respond.
Cammalleri ???? I'm expecting Burke to take a run for him. Don't get me wrong, he'd be a huge asset 300km north and I'd love to see him up there, just don't see it happening.
|
| Go Calgary Flames we are Fans Posted: 4/28/2009 3:21:13 PM | Burke will have his hands full landing the Sedin sisters.
I had said from the beginning of the season if keenan doesn't get the team past the first round he's be gone, but the talking heads in Calgary make a lot of sense... keep him for next year then go after Sutter. The only way I could see keenan going now is if they can somehow pry sutter out of NJ this summer. I can't see Lou Lamoriello allowing that to happen and I'm pretty sure Darryl wants Brent as a coach in Calgary, so I don't see him hiring someone as a one-year stop-gap.
