| What is your ultimate dessert, snack ? Posted: 5/28/2009 1:19:04 AM | It's hard to decide...I don't often have dessert.
I used to make a mean Cherries Jubilee from scratch...the flaming brandy down the spiraling orange peel, kirchswasser, cinnamon sticks, butter, sugar-turned-caramel right before your eyes - the whole nine yards. It had to be served hot from the pan over rock hard real vanilla ice cream. I've had pre-made frozen ones in fairly nice restaurants and they fairly - sucked.
Lately I've had a mean craving for cherry pie. Went to Safeway and got what was labeled half apple/half cherry. Apple is so-so, but I saved the best for last and ate it first, only to find the "cherry" was really mislabeled marionberry. GROSS! Tiny nasty seeds and all. So I traded it in for a new pie - all apple (they had no cherry!). Still craving that cherry pie...Next week, it'll be something else, I'm sure.
Snack? Homemade nachos is always good. Couple layers of Tostitos or Santitas with random dollops of fresh taco meat, fat-free refried beans, olives, lots of green onions and liberally sprinkled with Tapatio - then a light handful of shredded cheese and microwave for a minute. More Tapatio on top.
I finally got brave enough to eat the mayo peanut butter banana sandwhich it was great, have not gotten the guts to add the famous pickle, does anyone know what kind of pickle it's supposed to be?
Hmmm..I've eaten banana/mayo sandwiches since the early 60's...didn't everybody? Guess not. Never tried it with peanut butter though. I would imagine some sweet pickle or bread-n-butter slices would go well with it. Dill might be getting out of range! Why do they call them "bread and butter" pickles? Anyone know?

By the way, low fat ice-creams are bogus. The fat content drops but they neglected to mention they load it up with extra sugar. It's a gross inversion and false advertising. Who but the diet-conscious will buy it. I think it tastes bad, what's icre-cream without the creaminess? And ice-cream is sweet anyway but that is just sickly sweet.
