Some tattoos are cute. Some tattoos are ugly. Men can carry big tattoos well. Women should stick to small cute tattoos like hearts, fairies or butterflies. Personally I like a clean look on men and women. I don't care for tattoos on people though my boyfriend overseas has plenty of them.

Here is to the people that get tatts for them selves always keep them hidden because all that you are doing when you show others is to amuse them

Do I look I'm here to fukkin amuse you?
I have 7 alone, that in a tee shirt and sweats can't be hidden.
Nor would I bother to try.
Tattoos are a form of art.
I have drawn almost every one that is on my body.
My children's names mean something.
My tattoo on my neck is for a special lady I lost over the holiday.
Do I look like I givafuc if you don't approve?
But then, people who are afraid to be themselves,
are the very pit of society that tries to make it all uniform.
Of course, education is important too.
Perhaps you should have finished third grade English before posting here.
My seven year old can write a clearer sentence than that.

Kylie you may not intend to make people laugh, but you do..... you really are one angry person, not everyone likes tattoos...is that so difficult for people like you to understand? This is a place for people to give their opinions and you don’t have to like or agree with everyone. Your use of English is not going to win you any awards soon either and to be honest under the pit of society is the underbelly - where the masses reside and follow every single trend and fad and looks up to celebrities as their own personal role models. If YOU are looking up to Angelina Jolie as your role model... how long is it before you start wearing someone’s blood around your neck? Why don’t you marry an older man too, make out with your siblings or start adopting a bunch of children?. People who follow trends and look up to a celebrity as a role model is definitely lacking something in their lives. Obviously people are going to do what they want in the end and the need to state that is something only a child would do.

I am far from angry. Because I say it like it is?
Because I don't need to sugarcaot and live in a false reality?
And who says I look up to Angelina Jolie?
Why is she is the comparison for female stars with tattoos?
I have no interest in her,
rather I don't even find her an entertaining actress.
It's one thing to state an opinion,
but when it's uninformed or biased,
or just plain attacking,
then we are working on childlike levels.
I have friends with tattoos.
I also have friends with none.
Either way, who they are is what speaks to me,
not what they have chosen to wear or not to wear.
It's shallow to presume what type of person gets tattoos,
and why they get those.
Everyone here is talking of them being a fad,
or a new trend.
They are age old and permanent,
so how can this be?

I almost got caught up in having a forum posting conversation/argument with you, which is the last thing I want...so i'll just stop now. There is nothing you say that I object to....except, "It's shallow to presume what type of person gets tattoos". EVERYONE makes assumptions EVERDAY, and anyone who denies it is a liar. I actually like SOME tattoos on SOME people. Here's a dare, get a tattoo across your forehead - I would love to see that.

I know at least 15 or more people personally from all walks of life who have tattoos. None of them have any regrets. Hardly 90%.

http://www.harrisinteractive.com/harris_poll/index.asp?PID=407
I posted this link earlier in the thread. It's the most up-to-date research available regarding people's opinions on tattoos. 17% of people with tattoos regret getting the tattoo. It ain't 90%.

Personally I am generally not attracted to women with tattoos, although it does seem hard to find clean skin on a woman these days, it's not a dealbreaker issue with me. Although I don't think I'd be dating a heavily tattooed woman anyways, or a woman with a sleeve, not because of the tattoos but because of likely personality clashes.

Sorry to hear some people got hepatitis because of their tattoos. Going to a reputable tattoo parlor today, I'd think the chance of getting hepatitis would be practically nil. Also, about tattoos deteriorating, again going to a reputable parlor, this probably isn't an issue, as there have been great advances with the inks used, tattoos today aren't like the ones the sailors got back during the Vietnam war.

Thank you for the link bike man. I knew it was nowhere near 90%. I don't know where lovableladywanted got his statistics from.

Tattoos are a very personal decision. Everyone who gets them has a different reason for their decision. Apparently 17% are definitely bad decisions. But that can be said of many things we do in life.

I genuinely hope when someone decides to get a tattoo it's for a reason that is meaningful to them. And know also that there are those that will judge you. That's their prerogative.

All I have to say is watch miami ink, and tell me Kat, the chick on the show, aint hot, and she's covered in tattoos. I guess it depends on peoples preferences. I love tattoos, and plan on getting more.

A tattoo should not be done or not done just because of what people think. Some guys like them some dont just the same as some guys like the little barbie doll lookalikes and some dont. A tattoo should be full of meaning to you and only to you. And of course the other simple rules of tattoos such as the name rule.

So the skinny of it is if you want to paint your skin with meaningful pictures go for it. No body has the right to judge you based on the exterior, one should love you for you and not what they expect of you.

Guy here...

It depends. If the tats are somewhat feminine, or in feminine places, I usually think they are enhancements; but seeing a big skull on a woman's outer thigh, back, or arm isn't to me. Also, poor quality is bad too no matter where it is.

If you're gonna do something permanent, get the best.

I've had a guy tell me that tattoos on women aren't attractive,

Subjective, personally I love em. Saw a girl the other day with full sleeves, was very well done and appealing. OK she had bleached dreads and I was listening to White Zombie in the bar she works in, though that just added to it :)

that getting a tattoo involves pain, and therefore isn't "feminine".

Pain, not feminine ? ...... Did the person who say that ever give birth ?

What does everyone else think?

Something diffrent I would of thought.

In general, NASTY. When you get older they will sag and wrinkle and dye out and just look old and trashy. Girls with stained skin generally look more trashy then girls without. A girl looks way more feminine and pure with clean skin then with stains all over it. Try going to a fancy restaurant in a****ail dress, a ballroom dance etc, with a biker chick (tattoos and feeling the same) I mean unless she has the superhot body to compensate where no one cares, it looks totally trash. It looks good on guys because guys are supposed to be TOUGH and rugged and scarred up and bumpy. Girls are supposed to be feminine, etc. It does depend somewhat on the tatoos as well, how well they are done, what they are of, etc. Nothing shows your immaturity more than certain types of tattoos and they are definitely time telling. Something about clean skin is soo much sexier than a girl covered in tats or with that back alley look or drag look, biker look, street look etc. Innocence and class are soo underrated and uncommon. Why is it all the young women are racing out to conform to society by getting tattoos, partying like crazy drinkin and doin drugs and sticking rings in their noses? The true non-conformists are the ones who don't need this crap to make themselves feel complete, and are in the libraries studying trying to change the world, raise a good strong family and don't give a shit what others think and aren't caving in to peer pressures to get tats, go wild, and go crazy.

Aw thx GreenEyes...
I know who I am and what I am.
And I'll be damned Champ,
if I can't put on a dress and turn every head when I walk into a room.
You think women with tattoos can't be ladies?
Think again...
Times are a changing.

Who says women have to be the stereotypical "feminine"? I can be feminine without wearing pink, red or ruffles. I can be just as girly with a tattoo, board shorts and a tshirt! It's all about attitude, people. Being feminine is just a mindset, just like being confident. Girly girls have a tendency to being stuck up (or so I've been told). It's the down to earth girls who are attractive, tattoos or not.

Oh, and as a woman, you don't even need to give birth to feel pain...there's this lovely little symptom that comes around every month called CRAMPS. I'd rather have tattoo pain over cramp pain any day!

What a load of s**t! Does that also mean that childbirth (which also involves immense pain) isn't "feminine"! Where the hell do guys come up with that kind of crap? It makes me laugh really. I would have thought being able to handle a lot of pain was a sign of strength and what pray tell is wrong with a strong woman?

I think a discretely placed tattoo can be VERY sexy. It all comes down to some men feeling threatened or intimidated by women who are partial to body art which I guess, has in the past, been perceived as a male dominated activity.

I say get over it! A person's worth should not be measured by their outward appearance.

OMG, you won't hug or kiss your mother or shake your father's hand because they have tattoos? Do you realize how completely deplorable that is?

Believe it or not, people use tats as a form of self-expression. These days, tattoo parlors are clean, and no one gets hep c from them anymore. You're fine with having an opinion about them, but not everyone who has a tat is a "dirtbag" or whatever it is you think about them.

I happen to have three and have never, and I mean NEVER, had a complaint. They're feminine and have deep and powerful meanings for me. They are a way, for me, of honoring people that I have loved that were taken from me. They are not so I fit in, or so other people think I'm "cool"...so try not to judge people just because their idea of self-expression isn't the same as yours. That's the beauty of diversity--if we were all the same, our bodies void of color, what a sad, boring world it would be.

Personally, i Love Tats on a woman. But i do prefer those
done in color over the black or single Color ones. There is
such a thing as too much, but my Ex had Numerous ones
over her body but were Very well placed so as not to Look
overbearing. They can be a wonderful Ice Breaker as well as
conversation pieces. Different ppl Get them for different reasons
and i've heard of some getting them to cover scars or just cause they
liked thet type of pain or the beauty of it, but what ever the purpose,
There are some that are just pieces of ART that can draw ones attention
as in Rare well done paintings.

Just My opinoin.

Kudos To those with TATS!!
