It doesnt bother me either way. Although, i'm turned off by the skulls, dragons and stuff like that.

I've worked in a nursing home for a few years of my life and the little old men that had tattoo's from years past they didnt look 1/2 bad still even while in their 80's and 90's. I just wouldnt recommend getting one on a fatty part of the body. Somewhere that isnt going to stretch too much.

To each their own.

I liken tattoos to pollution or even graffiti when I see them on women.

Well, StupidLoser...
(your choice of a name not mine)
There's where you and I will have to disagree.
Because I see graffiti as a form of art.
Have you seen the talent behind a kid and a spray can?
Could you draw such detail?
I will say, give those kids a real canvas,
and they would do wonders for the art world...
Apparently, the only form of art you know,
is the conventional kind.
The kind that is acceptable to society.

A reported 1 in 5 (most likely higher) people with tattoos have regrets about it and there is now a large demand for tattoo removal.

Yep, and over 50% of marriages end in divorce..... I vote tattoo!

My daugther was tellin me once that.. this assole at a store seen her tatoo on her.. & told her why u have that for?? she repplied. why do u hava a dam beer belly & bigger boobs then me & my friends.. lol.guess he outta look at himself huh 1st..u can hide tattoos not beer bellies she told him lol

I'd never make a comment like that because, regardless of what I may be thinking, I wouldn't want to hurt the feelings of a total stranger. That being said the a-hole can always lose the beer belly, if he actually cares. Tattoos, OTOH, are forever.

Your daughter may be a terrific person, but plenty of people will immediately judge her by the tattoos, whether anyone likes it or not.

Kylie, I agree that some graffiti can be very beautiful and I'm sure that some tattoos can be very beautiful too. Most graffiti though is an eyesore. Graffiti can be washed off though.

I guess it's more to do with the tattoo artist. It's their creation. A person may choose a certain design but only the artist can make it an expression of art. Do people with tattoos think that it makes them a more interesting person?

Actually, I don't think people give two shakes about someone's tattoos. If someone is defined (or gets a boost of confidence) by their fashion accessories it's a very good indication of a shallow person.

Why do so many people with tattoos also keep snakes and reptiles? There seems to a whole sub-culture that revolves around tattoos and branding and piercing.

I beg to differ StupidLoser.
People do care.
In fact, so much so I find myself annoyed at the random people who want to know,
'what's this? and 'what does it mean?' and 'did it hurt?'
I am not someone who put a tattoo on my body for the sake of other's viewing.
Mine are for me.
I love taking my clothes off and seeing art reflecting back in the mirror.
And not my tattoo artist's creation either.
Mine.
I have drawn everything on my body with the exception of one.
And what do reptiles and snakes have anything to do with tats?
LOL
But since you mention.
My 7 yr old has a dragon,
and my 4 yr old has a snake.
Might I add, both their choices for pets.
Why?
Because little boys find them cooler than a fish or a gerbil.
Not because they have tattoos.

I am so glad you asked that question? I am 42 years old and always wanted to get one, but my husband discouraged me, guess we know his opinion. I am a average person with a career, and some times a little to conservative. I stood out side the bank the other day looking at the tattoo shop, and finally went in. I picked out a tattoo of a unicorn and finally went for it. Told my co workers about it, only to find out many of them had one too. I love it.

As a man who has no tattoos or piercings I find tattoos and piercings on women to be very sexy. I personally like women who are more outgoing and aggressive, and I think that tattoos in particular tend to indicate a certain "bad-girl" quality that I like. That being said, I also have seen many tattoos that are not intimidating at all, tattoos that enhance the feminine qualities. If you really think about it, women are typically better with appearances and aesthetics (how many guys do you know that care whether their belt matches their boots?) and feminine, delicate tattoos are very befitting to prettiness.

I'm with Bikeman on this one....
to each his own....but people should relize that after a few years.those wonderful colors and pictures eventually turn to a grey unrecognizable blatch of skin....
The way i see it....there will be a ton of old saggy ladies in the old folks homes..with a grey blatch of skin on their backs....arms....legs.
Humm.how attractive.
Let me kiss your back.....ewwww...what's this grey thing

Why would you care if your skin (and the tatoo) was wrinkly or grey when you're old and/or in a nursing home? What does it matter then? Just get them done in a tasteful (no pun intended) place and enjoy life. Lighten up people......

I hardly doubt it ....Do you know how many years ago tatoos were introduced?Thousands of years ago....and yes ,both women and men adorned themselves with these artistic points of expression....I am 45 ,got my first tattoo 2 years ago ,love it ,I plan to get two more ,I guess that makes me un-attractive....I have had very many compliments about my tattoo ,from both sexes...Oh and btw ,I am a very sexy woman ,tattoo or no tattoo....

I hear some women say its an individual thing , than there is a lady that says her tattoo mirrors others. Women that get tattoos really do not get it. They look masculine and most men do not like them. I will reiterate , this is a fad and most of the people that get tattoos of both sexes[ probably more women though], regret them later on in life. They are a serious detriment to American conservatism in the work place .May I suggest temp tattoos- they look real anyway. I am a progressive thinker but tattoos on ladies is a big no no. The art thing really cracks me up . Especially the one lady that says when she looks in the mirror she sees art lol. I guess I will buy a painting and look in the mirror when I am holding the painting next to me or I can just take it with me wherever I go and look at the painting

My ex is an over the road trucker. She has some killer tattoos. Every time we went into a truck stop with her in shorts. These got noticed. I guess it depends on where you are. I thought they were great.

I got a tattoo maybe six months ago. I had gone through a horrid divorce and as part of "becoming myself" or whatever, I decided to go for it. I have always wanted one, I don't regret it. I don't care what guys think, honestly. Part of being divorced is finding out what YOU like and not asking for approval from people. Actually, that's part of being single, general every day life too. As for pain not being feminine? Damn, how much did childbirth hurt? That's about as much as a feminine activity as you're going to get!

If you want one, make sure it is what you really want and go for it. Yes, it will be there forever so choose wisely.

What the real problem with people today is what you look like or what you have is more important than what you are. It is all through time apperence and possesions are what is seen first. Woman can be as beautiful with or without tats. Some work is so good she should be in a Magazine or a gallery. Then there are some that never should have been run and really should be covered up. Before you judge her for tats look inside and you might be amazed at what you have found. That woman you thought was trash just turned into the most wonderfull lady you have ever seen. don't get me wrong there are some beautiful woman on the out side and the UGLIEST on the inside. But if you look from within first you can't go wrong. Tats are an exprestion of who we are. Or body art we like to show. If you don't like them then don't look Thoes lovely Ladys would probly have a nicer day knowing some superficial DUMBASS is not looking at them and thinking wrong of them. to all thoes LADYS WITH TATS GOD BLESS YOU.

This subject will be debated so long as there are artists willing to follow this craft. Being of Polynesian decent, tattoos are a window to the soul. They should represent a profound event or occaision in ones life. If you get one, please let it have some symbolism or else its no more than expensive jewelry. Let it represent you. I don't have any problems with tattoos except one and maybe its because of my heritage. Tribal tats are usually reserved as badges of station, merit, or coming of age. I see too many young adults getting these and not knowing the true significance and meaning of them.....they just look cool......grrrrrrrrr! I think thats disrespectful when put in that context. Please be able to explain your ink and what it means to you as and individual, know the culture they came from and what that means in the traditional sense and how that has influenced you in your life.

In my native culture, tattoos were meant to be permanent and meant to be shown, but thats up to the individual.....if you wish me to view your existance as a cartoon, then by all means get the Mickey Mouse tattoo.

Just some thoughts from someone who got his first tattoo at 5yrs old.

Your choice.
Personally I don't like tattoos on anybody. The human body is a work of art on its own. Why ruin the scenery. I like to be fantasizing to the naked form and not to the bald eagle........... (poor choice of words; but, you get the gist)

There are a lot of closed minded people in this world, I find it interesting this person associates pain with not being "feminine", perhaps he should try delivering a baby, the pain of getting a tattoo doesn't even come close. At the age of 47 I chose to have a tattoo put on my shoulder, personal choice, doesn't make me any less a woman! If a guy doesn't like me because of it, then it's his loss.

What's the point? A tattoo will not make you more attractive or smarter. I don't have any, nor will I get any. I have better things to do with my time and money. Personally, I think anyone that thinks that tatoo's are an expression of art, individuality, or freedom of expression, is a friggin idiot. Any moron with an IQ above 10 can get a tattoo. A person of character doesn't feel the need for one. But hey, that's just how I see it. If you want one, go get one. I'll get you tickets on the Jerry Springer show.
