For one I have the so called tramp stamp on the lower part of my back and it is signigicant to me. It is a tribel sign with a moon. I'm part Cherokee Indian so it is very signigicant to me and my heritage. You are just some lame ass who wants to be a hard boby. I have four and I'm 28yrs old and I have two children and I plan on getting more. I have lost weight and my tatts aren't saggy or anything like people said they would. You have to keep them updated and freshly inked. People who don't have them shouldn't judge people who do. Plus I'm not a whore or a prostitute I work and raise my kids. So if by me having tattoos makes me these things then you should speak for yourself wearing spandx and having your picture made in them that is just NASTY AS HELL. Girls if tattoos is what you prefer go for it and don't let any man tell you what looks good on you it's what you think looks good on you.

personally, I don't really find tattoos on girls attractive. A small one that isnt flaunted in public can look nice but arms and legs is a major no-no. But it's up to the woman of course

ok, ok.... i know this is a question for the guys, but sometimes I just have a problem holding my tongue..... I am trying very hard here not to lower myself to your level.... BUT, perhaps your screen name fits.... I'm sorry...

If you don't have them and don't like them, fine.... to make stupid assumptions is not. I, personally do have them, and like them.... they are a form of my self expression and each and every one has a personal meaning. The are not a substitute for anything missing in my life , not do I actually CARE what small minded people think. I am in my 40's, they are not a crisis of any kind as I got my first in my teens. Some remind me of people I have lost and are a tribute to the love I have for them. I believe that my body is my canvas.

I am an admirer of the arts, any and all and tattoo artists deserve the respect as any artist does.

Why can't we all just get along without prejudging people for what they look like or who WE THINK they are without the knowledge of who they really are. I may be a tree hugger, but change starts one person at a time.....

[Instead of getting a personality they buy a expression that speaks for them so that they don't have to speak themselves]

Get a clue and a life..... I have 5 and I have a personality, lots of friends, am a member of many organizations and even a business owner. I am a prominent member of my community and and society. I give back what I have been blessed to have.

Every one is entitled to their own opinion, I just ask that before you make blanketed statements regarding people perhaps you should talk to some that have tats....

Amazing - but not surprising, that so many can get so hot about what another person chooses to do with their skin. And that some actually predetermine a person's intelligence or mentality by their chosen form of expression.

I say if you don't want to read the answers to the question posed because it may differ with your answer, then don't read it.

This is a question that was posed to a board forum. In this regard, there are going to be answers pro and con depending on where you stand on the issue. If we solicit replies to people in this manner, we better be mature enough to handle it.

The only thing the irate responses get here is one more person who will be unwilling to speak their mind and choice for fear of reprisal.

I don't get hot about what another person chooses to do their skin. I do however get hot when someone asks for general opinions and then gets all huffy about those opinions the questions ask for.

What some of you girls don't seem to understand, is that by making the decision to inject ink into your body, reflects what kind of person you are inside. How we treat our bodies, what we do, our daily decisions are all part of 'the inside'! It may not seem like it, the tatoo may have been a casual decision, but think about that. Something so long term, it just reflects who you are on the inside. All of our daily decisions are based on who we are on the inside.

Gee....I'd really like to toe the line and say it's your body, your choice etc...for myself, a little tattoo is fine..the larger pieces of artwork instantly remind me of KINK! ( the TV show) and/or biker chicks...I have to *sadly* admit it's a major turn-off for me...heavy metal piercings too...just make me...I dunno..retreat.

But that's just what applies to ME ...again, this is a classic case of the individual taste...so I just at the end of the replies to this forum, add the yeas and neas and you'll have a good idea?

And you a lover of the arts!

I agree. The entire works of Michaelangelo on your body is definitely overkill, but it sure makes standing in the line at the grocery store more interesting....

Years ago tatoos were worn only by jailbirds and people who had spent time in prison, along with some sailors who were drunk and rowdy and had a low education, then came the rock bands with tatoos and recently it became a fad to have tatoos made.
I personally don´t like to have anything that painfull and permanent on my body, I think temporary tatoos are great , they last about as long as I would want to have one on.
Permanent ones are unsexy, cheap looking.
I don´t mind a hidden tiny one on a woman.

Most people and the smokers who do smoke can *honestly* readily admit how stupid it was to have started the habit. They generally know the consequences of the activity and the health risks despite the 'group conformity' and trying to look 'chic' when they stated the habit.

Same with illegal narcotics, most realize it's bad for you and that it is foolish both from a health standpoint and incareration likelihood to be invilved; much less being the rebel and doing what this govt. wants you to do!

As the OP lists upon her profile she is Catholic and most Christian Churchs are said to base their lifestyle centered upon the Bible, should one of Christian belief consult what the scriptures in context say about protecting the 'Temple of God', one's body?

Or regarding 'stinkin-inking' should Christians defy the scriptures that their faith in centered upon and just do whatever they 'condemed well' feel like?

After all aren't Christians supposed to go along with the crowd and get tatoos if everybody else does, have sex outside of wedlock if it's in vogue, use drugs if it's stylish, and begat all kinds of maladys as a true Christian is supposed to go against their Biblical teachings aren't they?

I dislike tattoos. I just think they are a bad idea. They turn me off.

It is possible that it's because of the history associated with them. As was stated before, at one point the only people with tattoos were bikers, prisoners, and prostitutes. When I see one, that's what I associate it with.

I understand that people OTHER than the above group of people have tattoos now, but I still think of the above group when I see a tattoo.

Plus, most of the people I know started getting tattoos just as their self esteem bottomed out. As long as they were happy they didn't want one, then when they hit bottom, lost all self respect and started random sex with strangers, drugs, polyamory, and S&M. Whatever anyone else may think of these activities, I am not into them or people who do them. This isn't just an isolated incident. I've met about 20 or 30 people now who had tattoos and almost all of them engaged in those activities (I think 1 or 2 didn't).

I personally don't like tattoos on anyone, male or female. On a an attractive woman, it's like putting an ugly billboard in the middle of a beautiful scenic area.

so, the cloaked message there is "women are weak".... i smell a sexist! So why exactly then do we have babies? I guess that God screwed up and that should have been the big strong man's job. I hope this loser is not a love interest...and if he is...run, don't walk! Before you get something snapped off when his closed mind snaps shut!

Given the abundance of them on the area just above the booty known as the coccyx, tattoos just ain't what they used to be. Once the mark of The Bad-Ass, they're nothing more than a statement of the me-too fashionistas.

To each his own, but I think clear, unblemished and unmarked skin is still a sign of beauty. Disfigurement, no matter what the name, is disfigurement. Maybe it's a sign that our civilization is no longer compelled to hide Barbaric characteristics and urges.

i would be more concerned about my daughter's decision to taint her spirit by judging others, than I would her decision to decorate her body w/ ink, or wear earrings, or torture herself w/ an underwire bra and high heels, which women do everyday, but you don't hear clueless men complain about that....nice to know the close-minded chauvinist is still alive and well... i definitely agree w/ your last statement... i wonder what your decision to post this little jewel says about who you are inside? hmmm, interesting thought.

It's really amazing how so many non-judgmental types are quick to judge those who are honest about their opinions as chauvinists. Everyone seems to value honesty except when it differs from their opinions. Everyone is constantly judging and evaluating everything. If you aren't you have a problem. Some people mistake blunt and straightforward opinions with chauvinism or the term used lately is haters. Total nonsense.

I've often made the assertion that makeup and all those beauty accessories are ridiculous and tats are just another accessory, albeit one you'll wear every day for the rest of your life.

You see what you want to see. Selective vision is very common.

Ok, first of all it's polygamy, not polyamory, learn to spell sweetie. What does it say about you though, who claim not to be into "these activities" but on the other hand, know "about 20 or 30" people who are? It tells me that no matter what you claim, you do not hang around with the better class of people. I have tats, my self-esteem is extremely healthy, thank you very much, and I do not engage on any of the activities you mention. Get out of the gutters you hang around in, and maybe then you'll find out that there are other types of people in this world. Or maybe it's because you don't fit in with the rest of us that you hang out with the sickos?

I tried one rose bud tatoo once .
It was the wash off kind .
I'm so glad it was washable !!
There are many reasons why people choose to have a tattoo on their body,
including: Cultural reasons .
To express individuality
To indicate membership of a particular group or way of life
To make a statement
To establish a permanent reminder of an event – such as the death of a loved one
To reclaim the body after an event – for example, a sexual assault
To make the body more pleasing to their eye
To annoy parents?

But theres Health risks ; getting a tattoo still puts you at risk of the following:

Serious infectious diseases such as hepatitis C, hepatitis B or HIV (which are passed on via infected blood or other body fluids), or tetanus
skin infections such as impetigo (‘school sores’)
dermatitis
flare ups of existing eczema
allergic reactions
thick scars called keloids (you are more likely to get these if you have dark skin)
distress due to regret after the procedure - this has been identified as one of the main problems after getting a tattoo.

Things to consider
Tattooing is a painful process, and tattoos are expensive to remove. If you want to have a tattoo removed there will always be a scar.

You need to carefully consider the reasons behind your need to get a tattoo before going through with it. Trends come and go, but a badly chosen tattoo lasts forever, or costs a lot to remove. Just ask Johnny Depp or Angelina Jolie .

Hi well there is very little pain depending on where you get it. I jsut got my first tattoo today on my shoulder and it was not as bad as what I have been lead to believe . I have actually booked another appointment for next month to have one more done. So if you are thinking of getting one I say go for it. I know for me I have no regrets.

Well, the question is for men, and it asks for a response, yes or no. If you're a woman answering, you either didn't read the question thoroughly, or are really male, or don't think men are capable of coming up with a genuine response without interference, politicking or cajoling.

If you accept the variety of answers, good! If you don't want to hear the answers, don't ask the question. If you are shaming men into stating what you want them to say, then you're manipulative, disingenuous and dishonest.

I'm not trying nor will sell out the proper relationship of men nor women. But I've made a mistakes in my time. You might re-read the POs orinal post, is the 2nd sentence stating only males or men's oppinion is wanted?

It's alright, you and I both know there have never been any men or women in relationships that misunderstood each other? And if they do shouldn't they get over it and let go of their ego?

From Post #1 our OP:

Just thought i'd put this question out there. I've had a guy tell me that tattoos on women aren't attractive, that getting a tattoo involves pain, and therefore isn't "feminine". What does everyone else think?

Back to 'stinkin-inkin', where dear OP and fellow forum members, where in the Bible does it defend that you should harm to 'Temple of God' with tatoos man or woman?

If one is Catholic, Mormon, Baptist, Methodist, Church of God, Amish, Lutheran, etc...., are these different tribes of Christianity founded upon the cannonized scriptures within the Bible and if they are what does the scriptures teach about being like the Pagaens and harming the 'Temple of God' which if a Christian what are we supposed to do?

Or is it like the pre-marital sex compromise or using illegal narcotics to be 'chic' and accepted, in that we just be babys in Christ forever and never try to follow God's word, just doing 'what we condemed well please'?
