but don't say that all those northern and western pagan peoples weren't a part of western civilization. I don't doubt this at all. I'm also not espousing Roman or Christian culture either. No doubt the Romans incorporated some ideas and technologies of the indigenous peoples of their conquered provinces.
Just trying to understand better the roots of my opinion on tattoos, that's all.
mentally those women with them are more likely to be open minded so I tend to like women with tats for that reason. This might be true, I don't know. Depending on what they might be more open-minded for, this might be a duel-edged sword. I don't look at a tattoo positively indicating anything really on a person. If it's significant to you, fine and dandy. They do seem to be WAY more popular than they were 20 years ago. Perhaps because tattooing techniques have improved quite a bit (see VDHC I WAS reading your links! )

| q for the guys--Tattoos on women--yes or no? Posted: 4/4/2007 1:20:39 PM | Not long ago, I read an article in our local newspaper about tattoos. This woman was having her fiancee's name inscribed onto her neck. Interestingly, I did not read that he was branding himself with her name. I sure hope their marriage lasts! I have what I would describe as a unique and feminine tat on my right ankle. I spent years thinking about getting one and hours and hours selecting a desgin. I am actually glad in hindsight that they could not do what I had requested, though also in hindsight a more experienced tat artist could have made it work. My design was to "intricate" which forced me to pore over options and find an alternative. I am very happy with the tattoo that I have, and ten years ago, I would have told you I would never ever get a tattoo. She is a rather a fairy tale queen, and who doesn't want the fairy tale? Eventually, I will have her touched up to restore her colors. I know you asked the guys and not gals, but I threw my two cents into the pot. For many, tats are addictive. For me, I have my ankle tattoo and I like it, but I am done. I think my tattoo is sexy, and if she makes me feel more sexy, then I probably am more sexy because I am feeling sexy. | |

| q for the guys--Tattoos on women--yes or no? Posted: 4/4/2007 1:39:33 PM | In my opinion tattoos are like a lot of things....too much can be overpowering. They should be an enhancement...not a cover-up. Kinda like cologne....you don't want to smell someone from across the room, a slight hint that draws you closer is best. By the same token...I think a person with a lot of visible tats is like a walking billboard that screams...LOOK AT ME, LOOK AT ME. Yes, I like a well placed, tasteful tattoo on a lady. I do not like all up and down the arms, big, gaudy wall-sized paintings.
Do people with a lot of tats get off on the pain and the process? Is there an endorphin high involved?
Just my opinion...and you know what they say about opinions. Live and let live...if it's good to you, it's good for you.

Some say my standards are too high.
I don't care what some say.

| q for the guys--Tattoos on women--yes or no? Posted: 4/4/2007 3:55:56 PM | I agree, freshly Showered... I have two tats... one on my butt that is maybe 15 years old, and one custom built on the small of my back... it is individual.. no one else will ever have it. it makes me unique, and i think at my age I knew what i was doing, since I just had it done in November... Pain yes, but do have to agree with the comment.. try childbirth... now that is pain, but no guy ever complains about us be masculine then lol.. The forums are good today.. the thong one blows my mind also.... women shouldn't wear them.. they were made for women lol... | |

I believe tattoos are a big turn off and if you poll most men they agree with me . I believe strongly that 95 percent of women that get tattoos will live to regret it . The percents are high for men too that get tattoos by the way.

| q for the guys--Tattoos on women--yes or no? Posted: 4/4/2007 7:05:42 PM | i agree with all this^^^, and i dont like them and wont date a girl with them... i mean its just because you never know how things will turn out and things might get serious and we would have to break up because of her tatoos..... i know this sounds weird but watever, it is my lifestyle and vows i have tooken and friends and relationships are two different things.. yada yada yada... i like them though. dating me is like joining a cult so you cant have any freakin tatoos... its hard to explain how i feel about it so i wont.... | |

Are you an orthodox jew? Off the top of my head that is the only religion that is against tattoos. You can't be buried in a jewish cemetary if you have them.
But you did say "cult", so...

| q for the guys--Tattoos on women--yes or no? Posted: 4/4/2007 10:14:26 PM | no.... well kinda.. i have tried to keep my vows to god from the laws of the nezmerite from the orthadox cristian belief from ethiopia of the twelve tribes of judah. i just believe in moderation and not doing things for my own self indulgance and if i got tats i would really go all out and be doing just that and its just not somthing i want to do. as for a girl it is a personality thing and it just doesnt go along with my whole thinking. if a girl that liked and wanted me and she had tatoos from something trully rebellious and daring and something nobody else had or was doing then it would be a completely different story. as it stands people with all the tats and peircings are not really rebelling against anything, there more the mainstream and the guys still wearing pocketprotectors are the rebels in todays society.my favorite kinda art is about doing the unexpected even if its not considered ok by most people and to me tatoos are just not that.. to me its more of an elit group of cool. but to me it takes all kinds though so while i push the tatooless cool, you guys can push the tatoos cool and we can get along. | |
