| Anyone ever met up from here and been dissapointed? Posted: 9/26/2006 10:36:15 AM | | Most of us sound warm, wiity and loving in emails and instant messages but meeting for real is a different ball game. A pic captures a moment in time; facial expression, tone of voice and mannerisms determine the 'tingle'. | |

| Anyone ever met up from here and been dissapointed? Posted: 9/26/2006 1:37:08 PM | Yes, and....er ...Yes!
I did meet one guy (not from POF) we got on well, had a lovely date, talked loads, laughed loads etc.. I met up with him again and it wasn't so good. I decided I didn't think it would be good to see him again, he also thought the same, but then a few days later he started to txt me saying we are great together blah blah blah....... It was then that I experienced 'The Bunny Boiler'........ its not good and its not attractive to be needy! It did teach me a little lesson tho, and thank god he never knew where I lived!

| Anyone ever met up from here and been dissapointed? Posted: 9/26/2006 1:48:23 PM | Yes - only disappointed with one though. he'd lied to me. he told me he was 5'10, when he was really only 5'4"
and he also lied about his children, only admitted to two boys, when in fact he had a daughter as well.
And he didn't bring his wakeboard to the pub where i met him. I was lucky he recognised me.
That was the last proper date i had.
Put me off for life. | |

| Anyone ever met up from here and been dissapointed? Posted: 3/25/2007 1:06:33 PM | I was rather excited about meeting a certain gentleman off here but I have since learnt that he has been out with one or two other ladies off the site so I have declined his invitation because I am terrified of catching one of those terrible infections you hear so much about on the news.

| Anyone ever met up from here and been dissapointed? Posted: 3/25/2007 1:08:09 PM | Yes frequently and often...
A lot of people lie about age, height, weight on here, yes go on call me superficial but 10 years older than they say or 10 stone heavier and I am disappointed!
Some have all the wit and sparkle online and display all the animation of a slug drunk in a beer trap offline....
Again as other posters have said sometimes you meet up and there is no snap, crackle or pop!
Tis just one of those things....

Am I missing something with that statement? how are you going to catch a terriable infection by meeting up with the guy?
also no I haven't been disapointed but then I've never met anyone off the site i'm but no one would be disapointed with me, after all i'm bloody georgous, blond blue eyed bout 5 10, oops no wait that's not me, that's barbie.

| Anyone ever met up from here and been dissapointed? Posted: 3/25/2007 1:13:14 PM | I've never been disappointed upon meeting someone from the site. If anything, they are far better company in the flesh rather than through the other electronic contacts. It's far easier to project your personality in person than with typing away on your pc.
I have, on the other hand, been disappointed with the ensuing relationship in a couple of instances, but that isn't the topic of the thread.

Well all I can suggest is that you don't offer to go riding with him and if you do make sure you have taken the proper safety precautions, wear a hat etc....
In fact whatever you do just wear the right protection and you should be fine Shirls!

| Anyone ever met up from here and been dissapointed? Posted: 3/25/2007 1:31:53 PM | | I did meet one guy who bored me soooooooo much. I thought his job would make him interesting but it's the most awkward meet I've ever had. I did get chatted up by a nice man while I was waiting for the bus home tho. | |

| Anyone ever met up from here and been dissapointed? Posted: 3/25/2007 1:36:28 PM | I don't meet people other than in mind for friendship to start with, no expectations then from either side. So therefore no disappointments really..... I think if there is no pressure from either side, then why not get on with someone....
So far have met 3 people from here, and all nice enough blokes really.......and they got on well with me too, so they said. Still in touch with them too. But i class them as friends.
Dave.......well of course not at the same time! (mind you don't think the last one i met would've minded that event!) lol now we know what floats your boat though don't we!! Hey, we all have dark sides too....which is unleashed on the 'right' person.

| Anyone ever met up from here and been dissapointed? Posted: 3/25/2007 1:47:42 PM | Met a few off POF... a couple of them seemed to have mislaid any pics of them that were taken in the last 5 years obviously Some were cool though and got a few good mates from here | |

| Anyone ever met up from here and been dissapointed? Posted: 3/25/2007 2:20:08 PM | I must have been lucky then. I met a really nice lady off here and we are still close friends, we were both totally honest, sent recent pics -the worst ones we both had too! as when we met for real we were both pleasantly surprised! Didn't work out in the real world though for loads of reasons, but it gives you hope.
I think I am quite intuitive, and would like to think I would have 'a feeling' if the pics weren't as honest and recent as they might be and the person the same.
Whatever happened, I would be 'straightforward' if I didnt fancy someone, but lets be fair, sometimes you might have a coffee and think -oh well, reasonable afternoon, but I wish I stayed at home as I have x,y, and z to do on my day off etc., but I think I would still leave it a few days to make a decision and see how much the person affected me 'really'. Some people 'grow on you' and those are the people that mean the most IMHO.
I think if the meeting went ok but I didnt feel we clicked then it would take an awful lot of persuasion to see the same person again, but some people just have 'off' days y'know!
I would feel really cheated and swizzed if I made the effort to meet someone and they'd lied in a'big way' -small way -no real problem but 4" off their height or 12 kids when they said they had none! wow! oh dear!
So, to answer your question -only met one in real life, wish I'd met at least 2 (you know who you are! lol), I do find that only those who appreciate my honesty and are prepared to offer their own in exchange carry on mailing and proceed to stage 2 (-MSN!) really interest me anyhow!
Lifes too short to bullshit really, whats the point of someone massaging your/their ego from a distance if you were never going to meet that person, however 'unlikely geographically' that were to be? i.e. I don't bother with insincerity, if I flirt with someone or tell them they look pretty/nice in a pic, I MEAN it, and would do so in real life, provided they really looked like that and WERE the person they purported to be! lol.
