Like I said before , I can't tell the future, and I have a firm belief that one should " look " at every opportunity in life, be it in relationships business or whatever,

I have dealt with 18 years of being with my ex...I supported him,I was embarassed to bring him to any social functions, he abused myself and the kids emotionally and physically.... try having your 10 year old daughter coming atween yourself and him when he wanted to drive me....we were always broke, but I never had a charge card, he did...he never worked since 1988..gimme a break..threatend me with takin the kids as I was a bad parent...all the mind warping stuff he did....actually got to the point where I thought...so what? Ya wanna take me out? At least if you did that, my suffering would end for sure...who cares about the material crap in life...I can always get it back...I guess that this was way too much to post here...but hey...that is life, not always a picnic...so in answer? Would never, ever go back to that crap! I deserve better and if I dont find it. so be it...just am happy on my own! | |

A lady I know, married 2 boys, crappy marraige, the exact day the youngest moved out on his own, she packed up and left, she stayed only for the boys. She's never looked back. | |

Only regret I have is that I did not do it sooner...having said that...I really hope you know what your doing doll...there is a reason why we don't stay together...especially after so much time...sure hope you know what your doing...and if you both put it back together? People DEFINITELY change! He turned into a lazy ass alcoholic. He now resides in Florida (thank god, the further the better)
He hasn't contacted me in a while but sometimes he drunk dials me and says he loves me / wants to get back together...
My response: "wow, I bet you never let go of balloons when you were a kid either..." and hang up.  He gets the point now.
I refuse to go backwards in life. I do not like to revisit my past. | |

Posted: 11/19/2005 8:23:52 AM | Songbird, that is exactly how I felt, you made your bed, now lie in it and there is no getting out of it...kept my head in the sand...twice I took him back...and twice it went back to the old way...third time was the trick...not going back to that...some of us just take time to learn nothing ever changes with the other person, no matter what you wish for...
Now we are just friends for the kids and he has his life, I have mine...and we are both much happier for it too. | |

Posted: 11/19/2005 9:25:16 AM | Hardest and most difficult word in the English language is NO and it takes a while to learn how to say it. Just think back to when our little ones were first learning how to talk and they started saying no no no no no....fustrating as hell when the little spawns did that, but looking back...I wish someone had encouraged me to keep that word in my language.
When my ex and I split the first time, it was because of girlfriend number six. He told me to his face he did not love me, never loved me, and was ashamed to be seen with me and would rather spend his time with HER. So I told him not to come home for dinner.
A few weeks later I made an attempt to move on. I met a coffee buddy. That is all we were. He was going through something so similar. We would have coffee or lunch together once in a while...nothing regular just to talk and offer moral support. A few months past, the girlfriend broke up with my ex, so he came crawling back. I said no, I am moving on. He could not understand why I would not take his godness back and snooped into my personal life. He found out about my coffee friend and accused me of having a wild torrid affair.
My ex is mentally unstable, and he made some threats against my friend. I actually feared for him and for a few of my friends that he intimidated to get them to divulge any private discussions I had with them. So to keep my friends safe and me safer, I slept with the enemy. We went into councelling to see if we could work through the reasons why we split apart, and even after a few months of councelling, he could not understand why it was a bad thing for a man to have female friends outside the marriage!
I gave him the boot, and he had a mental breakdown. He used the pity me and look at what she did to me bullsh!t to try to get everyone to feel sorry for him and to pressure me to let him come home. I was even questioned by his shrink as to why I would not assist in his healing process. That is the hardest thing I endured. I was made to feel like it was my fault that he was cracked...but I learned how to say one powerful word...NO! While he was in the hospital, whining to me everyday to let him come home, he was getting cosy with a woman he met in there.
When he was released from the hospital, I continued to say no, and he continued to harrass me while he was seeing this other woman. After almost a year of this abuse, I left Alberta, got a divorce, and hid away. He finally moved on and remarried!
So to go back to an ex???????? (excuse me while I puke here for a few minutes........) NO! | |

Now, if all of these happen in the same week, then I might consider getting back together.

Boy I can't help after reading thru the posts, holy shit....some of the comments. rot in hell, she hurt me so bad, I'm glad her life is a total mess, & more...........well what I get from all that ( it kinda sounds like hatred ) is most people ...not all, that posted the comments arn't nearly over their ex's. Sounds like some counselling is in order for some ....not all, but some.
If your ranting about it, well your not over it. I was split for over 1 1/2 years and neither of us did what I see in these posts. | |
