Yes,
I have had this problem with true. Although i never did pay for a membership, i did try to contact their customer service dept by email 3 times to see if there was a way i could block the winks that were generated by match.com and not by other people and i never got a reply. So after that, i decided i wasnt going to pay for this if that was the best they could do.

I agree with all the other people who have replied....It's about time someone put a stop to this e-mail Personal Dating fraud. I've been had a few times by the two of them and also True.com
I hope they all get caught with their pants down and get taken to court for several different charges....perhaps some of us may get some of our fees refunded.....its along shot but maybe. James.

I don't think people can expect much from a computer dating site. Think of this.... the person you are talking to in IM's could be talking to 20 people at the same time and act like their full attention is on you or be watching tv, be talking on the phone, etc. , you can't tell emotions (sure they have these emoticons/smileys but does that portray the real emotion?), you can't see body language which sometimes says more than words themselves, you can't be 100% sure in any online situation that the person is who they say they are..... so I really don't see POF as a place to find a TRUE LOVE, more of a place to chat. For those that are sueing paid sites, maybe they should save their money from more online dating subscriptions and get out of the house and meet some people another way.
This business is similar to all those "dieting" fads and similar trends that go around. You know they aren't guaranteed or probably not even legit, so why waste your time.

I have on the other hand been with 2 dating cites at the same time..lol! lost alot of money from match.com.over $200.00! I thought there was something wrong with that site. A guy who was a paying member sent me an e-mail,and I could not read it because,I was not a paying member at that time. because,it was $30.00 a month.and I had already spent my share! but,I had to become a paying member to read his e-mail.and when I payed all his e-mail info appeared before my eyes.when before it said..blank blank@talkmatch.I could not e-mail him to get in touch with him. but,I think e-harmony is worse.they won't even put your picture on their cite or let you see any of your hopeful dates unless you pay the 50.00 a month! and they also told me I can't pick my age range I want..they pick out the age range, and height & weight.! I wanna pick my own guy out!

Hahaha! This dosen't surprize me in the least. These pay sites are all the same, they are "seeded" with profiles of non-existant people and they are all a scam to get your money. Better off on POF, I say!

I tend to agree. My brother and I used to just have profiles but not paying. i got many winks and messages. it seemed when i joined the winks stoppd and so did the new profile matches. what we did was i joined Match and he did not. Everytime a new match came up he wrote them using my email. it worked for him. then I stopped and he became a paying memeber. I got lucky but his new matches again dried up. We tried this three times and got lucky then. most of the non luckt times I had to join to send a pic and the people never ever wrote back. I cheated again and used my brother's log on. i had better chats and email until I actually became a paid memeber.

I have used both sites. You can include me. I don't think they will do anything, but it would be nice.

HA, like it wasn't abvious...

I signed up for two pay personals sites about a year ago,
the fact that I opened an empty profile was enough for thousands of beautiful women to contact me, promising me they are my perfect match

a year later, I get about two e-mails a day from girls who think my empty profile is HOT
(they go right into the spam box of course)

the web is full with scams... if you're not smart enough to throw them into your spam mailbox, maybe you should use parental guardian softwares

I've suspected all along this was a scam, but people blew it off as another one of my conspiracy theories (like the Big Three Auto makers keeping Michigan roads bad so we have to buy more cars and tires from them). I've felt they send me fake winks and flirts all the time, cuz I quite often don't hear from the supposedly "perfect match" I write to, then their profile disappears. I no longer subscribe to match or yahoo, especially yahoo for that reason. Glad to see this is being brought to light.

I signed up for Eharmony and I bought the subscription did not like it and I went to cancel my subscription using thier toll free number and I am in Canada and I could not do it. So I ended up paying it for it when I did not even want it.

It's about time a lawsuit like this took place. I would love to get my money back, God knows i spent enough. I wised up and canceled my membership when i realized there were sooo many profiles where the person looked absolutly perfect, i mean get real 90% of us dont look as attractive as the profiles they show. Face it, if they were as attractive as their profile and pic reflected then you have to ask yourself. Why are they on an internet dating site to begin with? (SCAM) I had a few women that wanted me to go to their personal web site and bring my credit card, while a few other profiles looked like they were magazine poses and when you looked closer some of them were very grainy like a magazine might would be. Yahoo and match are certainly scams and we all bought into them. Atleast it nice to be a member of a site where it is free and since i have been a member i have talked to alot of ladies. POF is the best!!!

Actually, if you read Match.com's rules that you agree to.. it says in there that you are not allowed to use your email address and that the system WILL remove it..
It IS in the agreement.
Not that I think Match is all that great... but ya gotta read the fine print...

I like the Ripoff Report Website

it helped me to not become a victim of "Girls Gone Wild"
Oh Man,What a Nightmare just like with Online Dating Mentioning "Fake Profiles"
I think it is so very wrong for people to do this to others hopes of finding their Mr.Mrs Right

http://www.ripoffreport.com/results.asp?searchtype=1&q1=1077&q3=&q2=&submit2=Search%21

Us Men Get Bombarded by bot messages if we for example goto a dating room on yahoo
yahoo even had to shut down private chat rooms, and still to this day, even if you goto a paid chat service like msn,Fembots are everywhere, even if man signs Up for ICQ or Paltalk

I have had an Fraud Experiance Before And She Or You Can Say He Or it.Telling Me After the Second Email talking I will send you more Photos Of Me and 3rd Email said I love you and Would Be able to Come into your Country From Russia
Via Me Sending Her Money For Ticket Through Western Union since she also said My Family is Poor and I can Only Afford to Get a 6 Month Visitation Visa.

I am lucky I didn't fall into this Trap,But it looked legit until i looked at her different email addresses she wrote me back at,the person doing this, well I tricked them ha ha,I started asking them logical questions, did they answer??? No. so therefore that's how I know because a Real True Woman if She Really Wanted a Man,She Would Not Post a Fake Profile,She Would Carry on a Conversation than just One Phrase Sentences.

I think in order for a dating site to Become Successful is to Weed Out All the Fakes,Not Give anybody Fakes,Prauds,Phonies
Internet dating is supposed to Be a Fun Adventure,Not a Nightmare.

What bugs me about the pay sites is the fact that they encourage scams but are so quick to go after anyone who takes advantage of the loopholes in their programming. I was on a site and discovered a hole that allowed for an interesting exploit. In the hope of making some money I offered to fix it for them. They blew me off so, I took advantage of their error. It was one of these Russian dating sites and most of the women were too good to be true.

Well, I can tell you that it happened to me on yahoo. I was on there for a long time without paying for membership. Finally, there was a really handsome guy that sent me a note and when I winked back he sent me another note and said he was disappointed that I didn't reply with more than just a "quick response". So, I decided to do the trial join just to reply to him. And, big surprise....I never heard from the guy again. So, I cancelled my membership, but my credit card still got charged, even though I cancelled my membership within the first 7 days. It was definitely a scam. I showed the guy's profile to my friends and they said the pics looked like they came out of a magazine. So, based on this situation, I can confirm that they are definitely scamming on yahoo. The other very wierd thing about the guys profile is that it always says that he was on within the last 3 days. It never changes.

If Yahoo, and Match.com are being sued for fradulent activity, perhaps somespamsite will be next. I got a feeling that site isn't legit either.

Interesting thread ..the buisness of love.
You know my pet cat as a child (Turkt) who I honestly call my friend never charged me for his love and companionship. We had alot of adventures together not one did I need to pat him but I did on some as I wanted too see him happy.
Thats my forst lesson on love and as regards to paying vs non paying sights...well (I have had some profiles on other paying sights) this is the most transparent.
Miss the lil furry dude.

Where do so many people get the idea that Match.com and Yahoo Personals are free to women? Nothing could be further from the truth. I have been a paying memer of both for over a year. These threads have been interesting, as it may explain why I don't hear back from some that I contact. On the other hand, I HAVE met LOTS of real people on both sites. Proof was phone calls or meeting in person. For that reason I was surprised to find out so many bogus activities were going on.

My biggest complaint has been all the "Africans" who impersonate good looking American guys that contact me on IM from Yahoo Personals. It doesn't take long to figure them out because they say they are from some state and don't mention a city; they mention USA;(which an American wouldn't do), they say they are raised in American or the UK, but are working in Africa on business, and, they don't use pronouns or plurals correctly. Why they bother to lie is beyond me....what do they expect to gain when their real identity is discovered, which is usually within a few seconds. They all have the same M.O.! They all sound the same with sickening romantic poetry and wanting to get married within 5 minutes of talking...SICK.

The person reading the message is under the impression that it is a legitimate email sent out by someone who is truely interested in seeing them. This is the only reason most people convert to paid. That is the part that is the part i would think is illegal.

Ok. So some trickery appears to be involved, and when they agree to the Terms of Service, they have no clue illegitimate e-mail is being sent out?

I was just curious what the exact point of Deceit was that prompted the Lawsuit.

i had a problem with true.com i recieved a wink and i winked back at the guy only to find he had never even winked at me at all.

Almost too funny. Their Computer System communicates on behalf of their Users ... lol

My brother and I used to just have profiles but not paying. i got many winks and messages. it seemed when i joined the winks stoppd and so did the new profile matches.

That sure appears to be deceitful marketing for the Purpose of getting your Money only.

yes i have also had this problem with true.com..eveyday i check my e mail and i have at least ten winks a day! from different people...no way i could be gettin that many ..funny how when i replyed got nothing back....

Yup, looks like computer-generated BS.

Good Luck to all who are involved persuing this Lawsuit !!!
