I already had a strong hunch bc I had so many 100% matches that were sent to me. It was funny how they were always online and all seemed to be the perfect median age of 24:) This is exactly why I havent joined either of these sites.

I think this problem is much more wide spread than just these two.... I know that I have had some problems with other sites and replied to those in control with little or no actions... ehamory is another one they tried to shame me into a renew and they claim to be a Christian site,,,, just goes to show what the great almighty dollar does,, jon

I just want to say i think sites like that are money making scemes and they are a multy million dollar industry. Because of the fact that they hit the ppl that it hurts the most(hopeless romantics-like myself). And ppl fall for their false compliments of the service they do not provide and the biggest one for that is amateurmatch.com set up a profile and see what i mean. I set one up there and did not even post a pic and i got hundreds of emails from very very beautiful girls who want to have s** with me and don't even know what i look like. Now is this beleiveble i don't think so, so if class action suites should take effect it should be all of the main pay for dating sites. POF rocks and I hope that they are around for a very long time so alot more ppl can enjoy this site and find true happiness other than the false sence that the pay-for-sites give.

POF THANKS FOR THE SERVICE YOU GUYS PROVIDE
I AS WELL MANY OTHER PPL HERE CAN AGREE THAT
YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST.

I'll tell you whats up... I had three people off of Yahoo alone one who contacted me out of the Blue and two that I contacted first, where as soon as we started chatting outside of the dating sites their Profiles disappeared! I would then visit the Site later and find the Same pictures from one of my previous "contacts" attached to a completely new profile. Its amazing really, what goes on in these supposedly secure sites.

I definately had this issue with True.com. Even up here where the "odds are good, but the goods are odd", I was getting many winks. I was unreasonably skeptical, but seems rightly so.

Hooray for the people bringing these suits!!! This is long over due for people to stand up and say we will not be abused this way!!! I also had a profile on Match.com. with similiar experiences. One guy said, "no I didn't contact you--I am getting married this weekend!!"
I want my money back from Match.com!! I hope the Courts throw the book at them!!!!

My brief experience with the Yahoo Personals and Match.com was very uneventful to say the least. Actually, a bit more disappointing with Match due to all the "winks" and emails I sent out. Even met a couple people but no chemistry. But there's yet another site, Dharmamatch.com that bills itself as catering to "spiritually" minded singles. Funny thing was after I unsubscribed, I received two emails sent from women who were totally unsuited based on my criteria so it puzzled me to no end why they even bothered contacting me. They were half my age, VERY distant from where I live and yet somehow got rather aggressive in pushing me to meet them once I took the trouble of answering them. One said her best friend had just gotten married via that online site so she was gonna try. But judging from the fact they were attractive(or made to look as such through successful "makeovers"), I would highly suspect they were decoys only put on by that site to suck me back in.

I don't blame the Sites as the people on them are half dead in any case.
I have had no problems with them at all and have verified every wink or e-mail I received.
Stop making excuses for not finding a partner.
No matter what any site sends me, I choose who is my perfect match and who I will reply to.
Get a life!!!!

well it's kinda funny, i never would have thought of sueing a web site for posting false profiles, but i am sure there are a few more then just the two menchend (match.com and yahoo) as a matter of fact i know there are more then just those two, maybe the "others" will stop that practice.

If you get winks from unpaid customers they can't send you and email till they join.I would send winks and if someone was really interested he would send me an email with his private email address by just putting it in the conversation without using the @ sign and sometimes we were lucky that they weren't noticed by the staff that checked them.I had a few dates that way without paying.

I have actually overheard bits of a Convo in a Restaurant this Evening making Reference to an Internet Dating Site Lawsuit.

Seems like the Word is getting around, and pay-sites are likely getting major Service Subscription Cancellations, and I doubt many will continue to send 'Sign-up baiting Winks' in light of the Class-Action Lawsuits in progress.

If you got any shares, good time to dump them ... cause the Gig is up ... !!!

A good Way to get even with those Sites that have ripped off any POF members would be to send your friends links to these News Sites the Admin has posted in the OP to stop this type of Fraud dead in its tracks from this point onwards.

Don't let your good friends get ripped off !!!

Well anyone thinking about eharmony.com might want to reconsider as well due to a quite similar expereince I had while considering joining the harmony bunch...I found it puzzling when I decided to send a message to the customer service department to inquire as to whether or not they withheld the ability of people to get replys from the matches that eharmony had found for them until they purchased a membership...since after a week of asking questions to 10 women none had replied...and am still waiting for their answers...but within 2 days of asking this question to customer service I surprisingly recieved notice they had found more matches for me and you wanna hear the real kicker 4 out of the 5 new matches that they supposedly found for me asked the EXACT same 5 questions of me....that they supposedly individually selected from more then 50 questions...WHAT do you figure the odds of that are...I wouldn't happen. I will be continuing my research into this coincidence and will post updates. Be careful and don't get suckered. Myself_201

SEXSEARCH.COM DOES EVEN WORSE!!
Posted: 11/22/2005 7:41:11 AM
sexsearch.com does the same thing and more! In fact, they will ship out e-mails BEFORE signing up (free membership for girls, guys must pay however). The text in the e-mails seems VERY CANNED. Get a guy's free- (useless) membership and see what happens!

I think we should bring this attention to the Canadian and US courts as well. This is a way to defraud people of money and is unacceptable.

A good rule of thumb when using ANY dating site is to be VERY wary of any email you recieve from a member who is much younger then yourself...especially when it's a male recieving it from a female....it's just not reality...unless of course, you're a millionaire, rock star,or movie actor.....LOL......there may be one woman out of a thousand, if that, who sincerely prefers older men as potential matches........and beware of any email you recieve that does not use proper English syntax in the message.....in other words, if the wording is indicative of it coming from a foreigner.....and beware of anyone who emails you and provides a yahoo email addy as their contact info.......yahoo mail is a major harborer and abetter of this scamming trash....there's an old adage that I adhere to when dealing with the many personal ad sites that I am,and have been, a member of, that will go a long way in saving many a "green" member heartache and dissapointment, and that is "If it seems too good to be true, then it very most likely is"...Nuff said.....

I'm not surprised that there could be bad business on the pay sites. I appreciate POF and would gladly donate voluntarily to the cost of running this site to make sure it can afford to continue, so we're not forced to deal with sites that could be questionable. A big THANK YOU to all the people doing the work and paying the bills. You are by far the best!!

Wondering how I can become part of the suit? I signed up to Yahoo When I beautiful local lady winked at me. I then sent her a few different letters to no avail. I have also signed up now to Millionarire match (Successfull Match. com) where I have sent out about thirty letters without one single response. They should be brought to court as well.

yeah i fell for this whole thing too. does anyone have a link to the actual information? i don't have time to flip through 17 pages of posts to find it. if there's going to be reimbursements stemming from a lawsuit, i'd like to follow that.
