I have concluded that ALL sites including this one have fraudulent profiles on them. That said there is NO excuse for corporations to partipate in these frauds (for profit). You the user have to exercise caution, the reason you or I are easy marks is because we are looking for something. Scammers prey on this.

The ones I have picked up on here, follow the same pattern: two or three very attractive women join the site at the same time (your area), very similiar profiles, two to three pictures (SAME SETTING), want a nice guy, no tats, long hair, bikers (basically anyone street smart), they have no children, they are business professionals, online at the same time or one after another....... I wrote a few for the fun of it and they all responded with the same polite no thanks. I can only assume that they are looking for a certain type of person to exercise some sort of scam on. My buddy is on here as well, exact same reponse.......

The other one is a gimmie, overly attractive women in semi-revealing clothes wanting sex with anyone, anytime......... within 10 minutes of joining the site they are on like 30 members favorites......... come on guys..............lol.

If it's true - then it's the most ambitious bit of scamming I've ever heard of. Something about the complaint doesn't make sense to me. Why would Match or any paid site actually send women out on dates to keep a guy on the hook for a subscription? I've been on most of these sites including this one and I can't even get 10% of the women who say they are looking for a nice guy.. blah, blah, blah to even respond to my introduction. I'd probably enjoy a "fake" date - at least I'd feel I was getting some value for my money spent on these sites. LOL I'm cetainly not GQ, but geez I think I rate at least a reply - even if it's a no thank you after I took the time to say hello. I don't think that's much to ask for...or is it??

However, I certainly DO believe that there are many posts on EVERY dating site since the number of females to males on a dating site in insanely lopsided against the men. They would HAVE to pad the profiles to make us guys think there are unattached women out there to get us to give it a try. Well, those are my thoughts on the matter.

There may be an occasional fake profile that creeps in here, but there are two major differences with this site as compared to the others:

1) It's free. You are not being charged for its use, therefore, legally no fraud. And
2) There's a way to report them, and action does seem to happen in response to the reports.

Every site is going to have spammers, scammers, and other trolls that are messing with them. This is the slow-self-destruction of the Internet as a whole. The spammers have utterly ruined e-mail, and now they're out to ruin websites not their own.

This not only applies to fraudelant sites but we are responsible for how we act on these sites - there are frauds on here too.

Just because we are looking for something does not mean we should be blind to the little red flags that sound off in our heads when talking either through Instant Messenger or email. Even here in the forums you will find them.

Lifeman, and others whining about lavalife, that site is great and does not rip you off or charge your credit card for erroneous payments, you can smile back and forth for free and you only spend money to purchase credits if you want to email the other.
Life man you need to open your eyes, that Lifestyle charge you are seeing on your credit card was clearly explained to you on the site, I actually read the info first rather than just clicking away to save like 12 bucks, so read before you click cheapy!
POF is a great site, but I will say again and than stop reading these notes on this forum "NOT ALL PAY SITES RIP YOU OFF, IT IS A BUSINESS AND THIS LAW SUIT WILL GO NOWHERE"
Its the name of the game folks, so stop actian like children and suck it up, I 'think' we are all adults here, nothing in life is free and you know you take a risk and change whenever you pay for ANYTHING online, not just personals sites.
If you dont get a reply back after emailing someone, have you ever thought maybe they just arent interested in more?? Thats the downside to free sites like POF, anybody can email anyone, even if you would never in a million years be interested in them, I here that complaint alot from women I have met and still chatting with through MSN, that they get too many emails from OLD men that would never have a chance. The pay sites eliminate this kind of stuff.
Thats all for now, grow up people, this is a business, nothing in life is free and if things look to good to be true, than it probably is

TRUE.com is another one that sends out fake smiles from the women who work for that site. I was getting so many smiles but when I tried to respond to them, of course you have to pay first, in order to resopnd back to them. Then I got to looking a little closer at the womens profile that were sending me Winks and saw that they all had something on their profile about being a assistant for the site. so I finally called their number and talked to a customer Service rep and told him what was going on and he confirmed that they do that to, and that if they get you to join, they get a precentage of what ever you pay. So he blocked all of them from being able to contact me.

Well, seriously how can we even prove that these sites are doing this. I think its ridiculous that this suit is going on.

It really doesn't matter. The lawsuit itself generates so much bad Publicity, that it causes far more damage to the bottom line than any Lawsuit possibly could.

Not only are Match.com & Yahoo under PR Assault, but every other Internet Dating Service who has been pulling the same sh*t is also brought under the same Loupe.

I have concluded that ALL sites including this one have fraudulent profiles on them.

We nab them the moment we catch Wind of any scams. Our Auto-filters are second to none to sniff out this type of non-sense.

- even if it's a no thank you after I took the time to say hello. I don't think that's much to ask for...or is it??

A lot of Ladies are also hit up by one too many Pervs and other Scumbags, or by those who turn rather psycho when she doesn't repond the way he would like her to. After a while they had enough of responding to anyone for a while. Seems like a few screw it up for the rest of us. Again, as we receive Reports on such Matters, WE ACT !!!!

2) There's a way to report them, and action does seem to happen in response to the reports.

You bet. You can count on it !!!!

The spammers have utterly ruined e-mail, and now they're out to ruin websites not their own.

So true, can no longer use my regular ISP E-Mail Address. 200 Spams daily.

You the user have to exercise caution, the reason you or I are easy marks is because we are looking for something. Scammers prey on this.

They know we watch closely ... not a whole lot of breathing Room here for them.

when I actually did subscribe and make contact with the people that emailed me,big surprise none of them heard of me,sure after I pay good money to join.

Seems like this is just the regular Biz Methology of every other Dating Site.
They all know it, we are just starting to catch on to it.

The worst one was Match.com. Fake profiles, They edit your E-Mails.

This is totally ludicrous.

they all had something on their profile about being a assistant for the site. so I finally called their number and talked to a customer Service rep and told him what was going on and he confirmed that they do that to, and that if they get you to join, they get a precentage of what ever you pay.

Perhaps the Law Firm representing the Class-Action Suit against Match.com or Yahoo has some internal Snitches employed willing to testify against them, willing to tell what it looks like from the Inside.

Keep your Stories coming Folks ...

A civil suit was brought against a company here in MN a number of years ago. I was a member of the site and I received two identical E-mails from the same "woman." I found it odd since I deleted one profile and created a completely different profile, username, and whatnot.

I get an e-mail daily from Yahoo Personals saying I have new messages in my Inbox. How ... I deleted my profile ages ago??

It is SO annoying.

Yes, I agree - lots of "frauds" on all of the dating sites. They use images from Google alot!!!

I am on here for one reason pretty much - the entertainment factor!! Do I ever, in a million years think I'll meet the man for me on here - not a chance.

But can you even truly leave Yahoo Personals? I have tried countless times to remove my account to no avail. They lock you in somehow, and force you to be a part of the scheme.
It is a huge rip off, and I agree that they deliberately set you up for disappointment. There are attractive people on there that you couldn't even meet if you were a paying member. I doubt very much these examples are truly members. How could someone with an income of 100 grand be singleand looking on a pay site for a date? It is possible, but how realistic is it?
Give me a break. Hoax, hoax, hoax...BS, BS, BS..
Way to go for posting this PoF! Kudos for you!! They are scammers I tell you!

heartdetectives.com IS the worst. They charged my credit card 3 times in one month and said I subscribed 3 times, come on. Then when I inquired about it they deleted my profile. I activated a new one just to talk to them with a profile that said "blah blah blah" ,literally. A girl sent a email, i ignored it cause i wasnt paying, when I inquired about the charges they deleted me again. This went on for 4 profiles , they deleted me every time and I got an email from the same chick everytime. Any site who uses ccbill.com as your billing company, BEWARE. If I can save 1 person money from joining this site I will be happy.

BTW killbride, your right Yahoo! personals are still sending me my matches 6 months after I cancelled. Get out people, I bet 1/10 of 1 percent of people find their true love on these sites. You'll be at the grocery store one day, turn around and knock shopping carts with the one your meant to be with. Trust in Fate.

I have been a paying member on Americansingles.com, yahoo personals, match.com, e-harmony.com and now here. I have seen fraudulent members in all of them but e-harmony.
Unfortunately E-harmony S U C K S big time, and they are not fair either. I went weeks w/o a single match and only got matches towards the end of my billing period, wonder why?

I say use commonm sense. I went on a few dates and also got a lot of those " can you help me? I am in a hotel in (insert country here) and need your help to get back to the states and be with you because we are so compatible" emails.

I know those web sites inflate their member numbers with inactive, ex-members.

DutchBoy 75,

Are you on the payroll for LavaLife ? Lava was the first internet dating site I was on, after the "LavaLife" I said I would NEVER go on a internet dating site again. Well "okay" I am back, but only because a friend introduced me to POL. (which turned out to be a excellent site).

On LavaLife you have to pay to IM and email messages (you pay whether or not the IM is answered or if the email is opened). On my last renewel approx. 60-70% of my emailed messages went unopened. I only emailed new profiles and ones that were "attractive". I'm not a expert on percentages but I would imagine that 3-5% of women would open a account and not check their email.......... 60-70 %, thats laughable. Without a doubt there is a high number of fraudulent profiles on LAVA, who would do this............. hmmmmmmm, maybe the company ? That was the final straw and I killed my profile and any remaining credits !

I also experienced a high number of women who dropped off after a couple of emails (80-90%)....... That could mean anything, I know that there are way more men then women on dating sites, and therefore the women would for sure have their hands full, but I found it odd none the less..... I can count the number of women I met off of Lava on one hand........ it was so bad !

I too am not surprised. I placed my profile on Yahoo Personals then decided I didn't want to pay the money. I followed the instructions to the letter, even sending a snail mail letter to the department listed on the site. I never got a response, I'm still working on getting my money back as I cancelled within the required 7 days. Not only didn't they give me my money back the continued to keep my profile active after I had cancelled! I'm still going after them and won't stop until I get my money back!! If you have had a similar experience DON'T GIVE UP.
