Match will give you your money back if you are or were a customer and complain.
I'm glad to hear this....I'm in a battle with them right now. I subscribed for ONE MONTH and gave them my credit card. I went in when the month was up to delete my profile, and whattya know....my expiry date was now another month later. I inquired and demanded they remove my profile. They said that unless you ASK to be cancelled, they autorenew if you paid by credit card. I emailed them back and said that is dirty, I don't care if it's in their small-print somewhere, it's DIRTY. I told them it's called "negative billing" and is not an acceptable practice by any respectable business and have asked them to refund the month I did not authorize. We'll see, but it's not looking good. I'm going to try to dispute the charge through Visa. Scumbags.

| Great Expectations - biggest fraud yet Posted: 8/1/2006 3:19:26 PM | Scumbags. Yep. I had a run in like this once and when I figured out they were going to bill me an extra month I reported my dedit card stollen so that I could have my bank account numbers changed. The company was unable to bill me. They did not attempt to pursue the matter, probably because they knew if it went to court they would have a problem.
In fact, in my case I was aware that I had to contact the company and cancel. But you don't just have to call and cancel, you have to do it repeatedly to make sure they actually do it!!! I'm guessing if I had not changed my bank account they would still be trying to bill me every month.

| Great Expectations - biggest fraud yet Posted: 8/1/2006 4:57:21 PM | | Get a new credit card number. A gym kept charging me even though I moved from Massachusetts to Florida (ten years ago). I disputed the charge, and my card company gave me a new credit card number so that the gym could no longer get your money. | |

| Great Expectations - biggest fraud yet Posted: 8/1/2006 10:12:49 PM | | A way to avoid having to pay to close and open an account is to say your credit card was stollen. After a fashion this is true, as these businesses seek to steal your money with your credit card after your contract with them is over and you no longer utilize thier service. | |

| Class action against Yahoo Personals and Match.com for fraud Posted: 8/4/2006 9:28:16 PM | And who says "free" dating sites have no capabilities to these types of practices of creating fake profiles? Those tricky sneaky tactics really have nothing to do paying for membership. It's all meant to create the impression that its a popular place to hang out and recommend to your friends. And if they want to invent fake profiles, nothing is stopping them. Makes you wonder why many people get stood up on dates.
Now I did and didn't say that POF is full of it. POF is number one!

As for FRAUD in Yafool Personals and MATCH.SCUM, doesn't AOL also try sneaky business tactics like not canceling your membership. I would so hate to be this sneaky.

| Class action against Yahoo Personals and Match.com for fraud Posted: 8/16/2006 4:03:07 AM | | Animal, you are right on the money, Ashley Madison is full of fakes along with the real ones. They've got the best scam going - you have to pay for their chat room by the minute, so while you think you're talking to a real woman, you may actually be wasting your money on a 'bot. They've got some real profiles, but I think a good part of their business is generated by fakes. Nothing but pure wire fraud. Hope they go down with all the rest. | |

| Class action against Yahoo Personals and Match.com for fraud Posted: 8/19/2006 12:46:43 PM | I've noticed the quality with these dating sites tends to plummet the moment they become pay sites. They set up sites to real people in with quality and then once they have their cap they focus and getting paid and don't care about their customers. (I'm not referring to POF).
POF is not a pay site, but it does get money from advertisers and its also not terribly advanced technically (possibly limiting the amount of technical overhaul needed). I would imagine the owners get a decent profit, or at they least don't lose money. If my guess is wrong...

| Class action against Yahoo Personals and Match.com for fraud Posted: 8/20/2006 4:25:27 PM | | Does anyone know what the progress of the lawsuit is? It would be great to know if something is really happening. I mean, it is one thing to hear that a lawsuit was brought but it is another to hear the verdict or if it was thrown out. | |

| Class action against Yahoo Personals and Match.com for fraud Posted: 8/20/2006 10:54:39 PM | | I don't know, but the website to submit complaints to the lawyers running the class action suit is still available (www . lawyersandsettlements . com / case / internet_matchmaker_classaction). Nothing new is turning up after a google-search run just a few minutes ago. | |

| Class action against Yahoo Personals and Match.com for fraud Posted: 8/31/2006 5:01:18 PM | | I didn't join match.com as i caught on that paying member can't get a response from non-paying members without them joining and you don't know who is a paying member or not. I wrote them twice that i wouldn't join because of it. As far as i know yahoo personals are the same. | |

| Class action against Yahoo Personals and Match.com for fraud Posted: 9/3/2006 6:35:28 PM | I have found just as many fakes on Fish as I did on Yahoo and Match.com, probably 98%. I don't know what Fish's angle is but, it's fake. They just string you along. No pun intended. I'm getting out and no more dating sites. Is nothing for nothing free? d | |

| Class action against Yahoo Personals and Match.com for fraud Posted: 10/2/2006 6:16:41 PM | | just a quick note that i called true to cancel my subscription because it was to expensive ($50) a month and i hardly got any responses to my winks and sent e-mails. they said they were sorry to see me go and they gave me a free month. guess what... same thing no responses whatsoever. also , they have women looking for "males 18 to 100". when you go in to to read their profiles there is nothing in there. hope someone sues them cause i could use the money back that i sent them. | |

| Class action against Yahoo Personals and Match.com for fraud Posted: 10/3/2006 10:29:09 AM | | Match.com showed me a list of the guys who matched my specifications. When I signed up, they were 'no longer members'. I then analyzed the photographs, which appeared to be from a magazine when compared to POF photos of men. I didn't end up signing up, but they did have a trick signup screen for some kind of Entertainment Rewards which offers dinner and movie, etc discounts for dating purposes. I didn't need this, since dating is usually on the guys, but my card is still being charged monthly for it. | |

| Class action against Yahoo Personals and Match.com for fraud Posted: 10/3/2006 10:43:50 AM | I get a page of email a day on POF (12 pages, 12 days on POF). Match didn't have the same results but they were supposed to have such perfect matches for me. My profile is is identical, and my photos on Match are actually better ones, because their system can't upload certain file types so I couldn't post all of them. I don't want to get involved in any lawsuit, but I do want to post this recent information about them.
And, winks galore, but few messages. I did, however, meet an incredible guy from Miami there. Turns out, I was probably the only real girl on the site, LOL, so I guess I had my pick! He stopped Match also, now that we have met, but I know we both wasted alot of time and energy, the money is the least of it, winking at people who probably never existed. That makes me feel stupid, now.
eHarmony was an honest site, but the guys were just not cute and you couldn't select 'no kids' just 'no kids AT HOME'. I am available for a man who has no kids at all, at home, in the yard...

| Class action against Yahoo Personals and Match.com for fraud Posted: 10/17/2006 3:38:54 PM | I deleted .... yes deleted my profile on Match over 6 months ago, and I'm still getting email messages that I have winks and email. I can't even log in, so how are all these men sending me messages? LOL
I get the same from some site called Mate1 - a site I've never even visited, and I get messages that someone has emailed me. Ironically they seem to come right before or right after Match.com's messages. Something sounds a little fishy

| Class action against Yahoo Personals and Match.com for fraud Posted: 11/1/2006 7:50:21 PM | | In view of the above facts regarding Match.com wonder why Dr. Phil lent his credentials to this dating service. Think its made him appear not quite as sincere as he formerly was. I'm certain money was a motivating factor but still........ | |

| Class action against Yahoo Personals and Match.com for fraud Posted: 11/2/2006 5:59:03 PM | | Good Post - Theadra. I too was very suspicious about all the goings on with Dr. Phil, including but not limited to the fact that he was not really a doc as such. Who knows? But I think he cashed in on Oprah's show and went flying from their. I also take note that match.com is using him in some way or another, but in either case I want nothing to do with him. I think eventulaly he will fall and fall hard! | |

| Class action against Yahoo Personals and Match.com for fraud Posted: 11/3/2006 11:31:02 AM | Dr. Phil is a dispicable snake oil salesman that preys on the insecurities of the weak minded. His show is nothing more than a mask to sell books and diet plans (which he obviously doesn't follow). There should be jail time for a lot of these talk show idiots. Too bad money talks instead of justice. | |

| Class action against Yahoo Personals and Match.com for fraud Posted: 11/3/2006 6:38:43 PM | Dr.. Phil... there are a couple of threads commenting on him in here...
he's just a bad daytime Jerry Springer or Herarldo with no integrity.
I'v been on the net since 96 and gone through a lot of free sites ... they click and work and are fun ... until credit cards are asked for ... then I leave.
I refuse to give my card to any site other than my bank and e.bay where they will actually give me money ... well at least assist in giving me money.
This site just got National news publisity ... a single owner ... who is making money ... good money on the ads in this site. As long as he stays happy with the level of profit and doesn't sell out ot Google or some other corp.... power to all of us.... we make this site what it is. and I'm sorry ... names blow by me on the tv set ... but still... I salute him.

| Class action against Yahoo Personals and Match.com for fraud Posted: 11/6/2006 7:17:05 PM | I think singlesnet.com is up to no good too.
Getting the same exact messages from different screen names?
Different supposed people with similar names messaging you.
it seems like you get a ton of messages 1 day, none for weeks?
You'd get women messaging you and all, wanting to talk, but they never reply, never.
This isn't once or twice, maybe 10-20 times.
A lot of pay sites are bad.

| Class action against Yahoo Personals and Match.com for fraud Posted: 11/20/2006 10:08:40 PM | | I believe this is true, soon as I cancelled my monthly subscription on yahoo, I suddenly had two emails from people that sounded too good to be true, when I tried contacting these people( no pictures) I had to subscribe again, my email contact was strange and I thought, these people could be fictitious! I kept getting emails that said, wanna meet for coffee, almost everyday and when I replied to this all I got back was wanna meet for coffee again, and again!! I am no longer on this site. | |

| Class action against Yahoo Personals and Match.com for fraud Posted: 11/23/2006 1:30:07 PM | | I was talking to someone for awhile on yahoo that I thought was for real. She got a couple of pics (which she could have gotten from here anyway), and my phone number then I never heard from her again. It was obviously a scam but I'm not sure to what end. She could possibly get my address from my number (it's a private unlisted number) but that's not hard to find out about anyone. I'm just puzzled as to what could be done with a pic and my address unless it could be used to make another fake profile. Doesn't seem smart to me. | |
