Just an observation...I'm a fairly new member here.....at first I posted myself as BBW...but a few days later I added specifics....("for guys who say "no fatties" etc........)first few days, before adding that, I got quite a few emails...since adding that specification I haven't received a single one. Not a one. Just an observation. If you don't care for big women that's your choice.

Just weighing in on the subject. (Yes pun intended)

I've seen women a few extra pounds that looked pretty damn good. For the women that weigh 90 lbs, with the assistance of lead boots, that's just TOO small. The way I look at it, if you don't like the way I look, with my few extra pounds, don't look at me then. If we were all meant to weigh exactly what people said we weigh at our given age, then we'd all look alike.

With me, weight isn't an issue as long as you are comfortable with yourself. If I were blinded tomorrow, I wouldn't know what you looked like based on weight.

I think if we're honest about it, we ALL care about what other people think. HELLO! We're on a dating site to me other people, of course we care. As for the 15-20 extra pounds - females are generally more sensitive about that than men are. If you have your pic posted, people can see what your body type is. Don't sweat it. I haven't seen your profile, but you having "a few extra pounds" for your own body is pretty average - lol.

I put down average on my profile because there wasn't a better option! Actually, for my height, my weight is below average - but because I'm curvy I don't look skinny either.
There needs to be another category on here for women - hourglass or curvy - that's really the best description for me.

It does not matter whats on the outside as long as you feel good about yourself. Now im less than average because for some reason i just dont attratct women. Basicly im ugly and i know it, but i also know that its whats inside that counts. Im a funny, kind and sensitive guy, and i believe women like that. So what ever size you are just be happy and be yourself and most importantly be truthful.

I don't see a photo of you so I certainly cannot comment on what I think about what you've selected. But what you have to remember is that you ARE going to meet someone for a cup of coffee. They ARE going to see exactly what you look like. So...why fudge the truth even a little? He'll never ask you out for a second date if you misrepresented yourself. And it probably won't because you are a bit overweight. It will be because you lied.

Trust me on this. I've been through it a couple of dozen times with men who say they are 'athletic' but carrying around a 50 beer belly.

Been with men who say 'NO' relative to smoking, but they smoke.

Met men who said they were single and....yeah, you get the jist.

DON'T LIE. It just compounds the problem.

Desertdude has it right!!!! Sexy comes in all shapes and sizes.... more of an attitude than anything else.

BUT what is average? I consider myself average and I am athletic, not fat but not skinny either, curvy and healthy...Padded in all the right places with a great shape.

I would say average is a range---10-20lbs over or under your ideal weight...

And why do we have to measure beauty in a size???? I think Queen Latifa is a beautiful woman!! and so is Cameron Diaz, however Mother Theresa has them both whipped cause beauty comes from within.

I also posted at BBW, since I consider myself more than "a few extra pounds"...my problem has been that I got e-mails from guys interested in "big/heavy women with big breasts"...I just don't reply to those. I am large, but not fat (at least comparing to others I see on here and in the real world), & thanks to plastic surgery, no longer have big breasts, either. So, I think that everyone's opinion is different. You may see yourself one way and the next person to see you may classify you differently

I was straight up honest in my profile, and put "a few extra pounds". The guy I met on here that I've been dating told me I'm "average"...What can you do? Everyone's opinion of skinny/fat is different, and I actually have received quite a lot of mail from other POFers as well.

It's just that to some here that I've seen "a few extra pounds" is around 50 or so.
It all comes out in the wash when you meet anyway...May as well be as open and honest as possible from the start.

10% over the ideal body weight is considered *overweight* 20% over is considered obese by the WHO (world health orginization) you can find a BMI calculator on the web and figure out your BMI. The problem with body dysmorphic disorder is it works both ways. Small people think they are huge, HUGE people think they are smaller and within *normal* or average. A few extra pounds is just that a few=not many.

Its all in the perspective.......you may be average to you and not to someone else....then again you could be 30 over and slim to someone who is use to larger women..........I really think the answer is to just say what you think and to hell with what others say...........we all could lose a few.....so what???......if a guy likes your smile, your looks and your personality...who cares what the scales say.............as long as you are healthy thats where it is at!!!

Here is a way to figure out if you are in your ideal body weight range-

Female, 100 pds for the first 5ft and 5 pds for every inch thereafter

I am 5'6. My ideal weight would be 130. But, I can +/- 10% and still be in an ideal body weight range but this +/- has to do with a large frame vs a small frame.

Males, 106 for the first 5ft and 6 pds for every inch thereafter.

If you are over 10% of your IBW, you are overweight
If you are over 20% of your IBW, you are obese

Remember, these are just ideals to go by. But, they can tell you where you are at in general terms.

This post has certainly stirred a lot of opinions. And you know what they say about opinions and how everyone has one . . .? Well, I'm FAT, so there, it's out in the open. But, I'm also sensuous, don't lack for men (both friends and lovers), graduated summa cum laude, and have a sense of humor that keeps people in stitches with laughter. So, to me, my FAT is normal and average to me. And of course, I work out at a gym almost daily, simply to take care of my health - if I lose weight that's OK, but not the reason for being in the gym.

If a man meets me for coffee, and I'm not what he's looking for, that's perfectly all right. I have met several men who described themselves as fit and handsome, and then when we met, they were beer bellied, balding, aged. Now, if they had only described themselves in this way, I would have known what to expect and not been taken aback. I am wondering if men have more problems in "seeing" their physical short-comings than women do. I'm all for truthful "disclaimers" in our profiles. If you don't love yourself the way you are, then you need to do something about it. You can't grow hair back without a lot of cost (by the way, I find bald heads sexy), but you can be certain that your grooming is impeccable.

These words are very subjective. They mean different things to different people. I think the key in getting this particular information across is A RECENT PHOTO!!

The weight guideline laid out a couple of posts ago has been used for decades ~ and indicates healthy weights... today's average is a site lot more than those weights. Another consideration in looking at the guidelines is that muscle weighs a LOT more than fat. While in school, a buddy and I had to do work ups on each other. He registered as clinically obese (30%>average) yet he only has 7% body fat ~ not obese by anyone's standards.

Every body type/shape is appealing to someone... put yourself out there and put up a pic ~ they say a thousand words.

When I look at women's profiles, the average are mostly much bigger than me.Therefore, I become ''thin'' on my profile here on POF ..but I am not thin at 120 lbs with all the humps and bumps at the right places. In accordance to the standard weight and height chart, I am just right. I must be an average in reality. :)
