Summer Teeth;

I am making up time for some misspent youth, the acoustic guitar is my love but I use to play drums way back. I'm sure the Creator loves the rhythm of life in musical form too. It takes us out of the hell I think.

Motif-

Guess they're kinda like christians from this country talking to god on a two way radio, bombing abortion clinics. It's because they're crazy. Jesus didn't tell them to do it.

Skypoet- I know you don't like me, but I'm not going to attack anything you said, so bear with me. I just wanted to point out that you may find some aspects of string theory interesting in relation to your comment. String theory posits the existence of vibrating strings of enfolded dimension on a scale much smaller than subatomic particles that account for the atomic structure we witness in quantum physics. It's reminiscent in a way to Pythagoras' philosophy of "the music of the spheres." The Elegant Universe by Brian Greene is a good layman's account of the physics of string theory if you'd like to read up on it.

Wonka;

I have heard that theory and it's very interesting. It adds to the debate very nicely, thanks for your thoughts, I will look at it again. No problems here, you are a friend.

That's good to hear. I know I can come across abrasive in my appeals to logic and rational reasoning, but I don't mean to attack any individuals, just arguments. Good to hear we are not personally at odds.

Hey, ignoram, if you know any languages at all, everyone refers to them as MUSILI, that is the correct language to call them. "Muslim" is an anglicized version, but if you had any intelligence at all, you would know that. These retards that think I am that guy.

First of all...again...real nice christian attitude. Second... I wasn't arguing terminology...I was just stating a fact. Truth hurts tho eh? Ouch.

Wonka--do you know of any good books on string theory that are written in layman terms? I'd like to know more about it and what I've seen on public television wasn't all that helpful. Thanks in advance!

Summer Teeth- You didn't read to the end of the post did you?

The Elegant Universe by Brian Greene is a good layman's account of the physics of string theory if you'd like to read up on it. This was the last sentence in my post. That's okay, I sometimes miss things in posts by scanning quickly too. It's a great book; I highly recommend it.

The topic of Satan comes up a lot in the forums, as does the potential for many non-believers to go to hell (which, depending on who you ask, is a catagory everyone can fit into). Which brings up an interesting point of logic. In order for a person to believe in hell, they have to believe in the religion. By believing in the religion, generally people assume they will be ascending the stairway to heaven. Since it is only believers who have hell as a deterrent for their sins, what is the point of telling non-believers they will be going to hell for not believing? Is it even possible for someone to believe that they are going to be going to hell? Or does hell only exist as a place you were going before you found (insert favorite here)?

You know what I think is pretty funny? For the people who don't and DO believe in religion, a lot of times they assume they are going to have a pretty good afterlife. The way a lot of religions portray themselves is that they WILL go to Heaven. Then who are the people who are going to Hell? Doesn't make sense. I'm not going to pick on this religion at ALL but use it as an example... Catholicism. They believe that good works get you to Heaven... So they mean to tell me that if I don't do good works for the rest of my life, I'm going to Hell? Doesn't work. What if I don't feel like doing something good today? What if I'm raggin, have severe cramps, and pmsing for a month (like surprisingly a LOT of woman go through)? Does that mean that's one less brownie point for me to get to Heaven? God forbid, but what if I'm a vegetable in bedrest for the rest of my life or in a coma for many MANY years? And I CANT do good works? It goes against the way they believe. Does that mean I wouldn't be able to go to Heaven? So I would go to Hell for that one?

Ah Funn1, but that is your perspective, hw do peole who have had awfull lives, live myself for example, know that you are not a demon here to torment me with ideas of how life is supposed to be but never will be for us?

No person attack, just trying to show you that from some peolespersectives, nothing could be worse than this life.

I’d actually turn the question around and ask.

Why does it upset or irritate non-believers that a believer says that they are going to hell. If you don’t believe what does it matter? If a non-believer was to tell a believer that they were going to a sexual orgy or nothingness after death it would not concern a non-believer (Christian).

Hell is the complete separation of God from the human spirit. Currently Christ’s grace is keeping the spirit within humanities grasp.

But they don't, the non religious have a tendancy not to talk about after death as they don't belive there is suh a thing.

I would be offened no matter what someone said to me about where I was going, if another pagan said to me that I would not be going to be reincarated, or the happy hunting ground or valhala or whatever thier religious belifs were, I would be offeneded. It about the judgement. It is NOT that someone is saying that you are going somewhere you do not belive in, it is that someone is saying you are a bad person.

Just to reiterate my point, saying someone is going to hell, is the exact same as saying they are a bad person. Being told you are going to hell is like being told you are a bad person.

Another question as if there weren't enough of them..
How come only humans are going to hell or heaven?
What about bipedal hominids, our ape-like ancestors?

for more info goto: http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/Lab/6562/evolution/descent.html

Explains why: "The current theory of human evolution states that modern humans evolved from more primitive bipedal hominids."

Next question would be.. since bipedal hominids came from apes, how about apes?
Then all other animals?
How about plants that move like animals?
How about plants that move normally, very slowly?

I was gonna say one celled organisms or cell colonies.. but hopefully you get my point by now. If not, best of luck to you :-)

And from mine its the opposite, we make our lives what or how good they are by how we react to things. I will give you an example, i just got a new car about 2 months ago nice little nissan. the other morning I whent out to start it and it jumped and sputtered and i thought what the heck, so I popped the hood and a mouse or rat not sure what it was ran out. It had chewed 2 of the coil pack wires. that little thing is going to cost me $300-$500, but I choose how Im going to react to it, its not the end of the world. Mybe I will just trade it back in and get a new one . Life is what we make it, and if we have God all things are possible.

But a non-believer actually do have a tendency to talk about death. Not in relation to hell, but in relation to their understanding of what death is and means to them.

No no, funn1 man, he is quite right, what point dose humanity start at... when do the collection of cells that are the newly fertalised egg (Zygote) become human and gain a soul?

Only 1 in 3 zygotes make it to the first term, most fail to conect to the womb in time, others abort due to bad development (poor genes or chimcal interferance). As we have to turn to christ to become saved, the poor zygotes don't stand a chance and so if they have a soul they are going straight to hell.

Hardly sounds fair to me.

It also sounds like hell should be full mostly of children and miscaried embryos!

And what about the mentaly retarded? If they can't actualy interact with the world, then they can not learn the word of god and so can not be saved. Again, this dose not sound very fair to me.

Lastly, what about animals? Chimps and Gorilas and Parots can learn to talk throug various means and learn complex ideas. One chimp was even taught what morals were (in relation to violence only) and changed her behaviour towards other chimps acordingly. She did this without any behavioural training, just by being taught what moralality was. It is concivable that in the future you could teach a chimp about christ, so why can that future chimp not be saved as well?

Who will and will not be saved is not so cut and paste as the curches would want you to belive.

Why would they not go to heaven? God said when he made them that they were good. The only thing Bad on this earth is Man.
