alot of people can be fooled by the way a person talks, responds or whatever online or the phone.
in terms of you letting her parents know...how would that be acomplished, i would imagine if she was able to begin to fool you she probably would be able to hide a way for you to inform them as well.
young girls can be slick as well as young boys...she was just lucky to meet someone online who realised whats up. | |

Teens now a days do have a lot of pressure and they have a lot of free rein in the internet world. Teens are more knowledgible than some of us parents and adults. I commend him for warning parents of what he experienced. I am glad I read his concern, as a parent. My hope is that she did take her name off permanently and did not change the name and continue. Teens are lonely and are looking for attention and affection where ever they can get it. People he took the time to correct the problem and he is not a criminal. I just wanted to say Thanks.

1) I AM DEAF!, how the frig, can I talk to ANYONE on teh fone? der?
2) Whats wrong with age gap? so long she is legal and happy with the one she loves, age has no meaning., Of course, personally, qan 18 year old girl hanging out with a 50 year old. either thats true love, or somethings not right there. I am 34, and thats nothing wrong with dating an 18 year old.
3) if it was s ting, they would MENTIONED somewhere int eh chat emails that she is a minor. That is how they (the police) do it
4) I didnt know about her age until I MET her!

I think you did the right thing. I don't blame you for not realising her real age. These days girls look more and more mature for their age, I'm serious. Not only that, but considering a lot of people my age talk like a 12 year old, its hard to tell what someone's real age is based on their intelligence. I'm just as appalled as you are, but reality is, minors DO have sex and I don't think parents would have much influence over them. Teenagers will just continue doing whatever they like regardless of what their parents say. | |

Mind you.. this happened to me for the first time, so i dunno the best way to do it, so i acted im what i think was right.
spartanis, i think you did pretty well with this under the circumstances
i had something pretty f***ed up happen to me on a date last week, and when i told people, most people were suggesting "they would have done xyz," or"i can't believe you didn't (insert verb here).........." my point is, nobody TRULY knows what they will do in a certain situation until they are in it, no matter HOW SURE YOU ARE that you DO know........trust me
i commend you for trying to talk sense into this young girl.......even if it WAS a sting, that type of response could only be commended, not punished! my only fear is that another man will NOT turn this girl down and do the right thing...........but that is something you have no control over, OP. you did the best you could to scare the crap outta this girl in hopes of saving her from less honorable men
and i also commend you for posting this, as it will hopefully convince people to look more carefully at who they are pursuing here

this incodent must have scared the shit out of him something similar happened to a friend of mine but he wasnt so lucky he met her in a night club and she looked at least 20 and he had a one night stand with her it turned out she was 15 and she blackmailed him for months .
in saying that i was in clubs when i was 15 and i lookded the same age as i am now and that was 9 years ago i suppose that is the major draw back of the time we are living in kids are not kids any more i have little cousins of 13 who watch sex and the city religiously and they have acsess to all sorts of infomation
another point is that teenagers are devious and they will do anything to get what they want
i believe sparton did the right thing in a bad situation and this situation is a topical today as it was 3 years ago !!!

Regardless, It's great to know that there are guys who have some morals and would not meet with her to have sex anyway.
As for those who think 18 is too young for a man his age to be messing with ... well, at least it is legal. Besides, although some 18 year olds lack maturity, they are not "children" anymore.
I believe in Canada, the age of consentual sex has been 14 for quite some time. Obviously even the law thinks it's okay for little girls to be sexually active. Add that with decades of society pushing little girls to look sexual, dress sexual, and act sexual ... and is it really that shocking to hear that they actually ARE sexually active ... I already tell them to becareful. Some lie some don't. Obvioiusly you can't call their parents but you can get their IP number and contact their ISP to notify their parents.

From I have been told if an adult is under 30, the legal age is 14, if an adult is over 30, 18 is the legal age. It is crazy because in Canada if the legal age is 18 then there would be so many men in jail. Many girls sleep with adult men for money, gifts, etc. A newspaper actually had a report on this. It is pretty common, more than I thought. I was very shocked how common it is. The only way to know for sure is to ask adult questions to veryify their age. | |
