| Calves are sore along shin bone from running. Posted: 8/5/2008 11:45:14 AM | It may be that your calf muscles are out of balance with the muscles running down your shin, that is to say they could be stronger.
So try building up the weaker muscles by balancing weight on your toes and lifting your toes up, exercising the muscles on your shin.
Rest Ice Compression Elevation is always a good one for after running when in pain too!

Posted: 8/7/2008 5:46:59 PM | RICE...rest, ice, compress and elevate for the compress part do a little massage on the front of your shin....you should find a point where the pain more localised than the rest of the shin....and Yes I know this will hurt the first time that you try it....take your finger and push in on that spot as hard as you can....massaging it, it'll help

| also, try a WOBBLE BOARD Posted: 8/20/2008 11:00:13 AM | This is a great training device for building core strength and balance, and is also very good for stretching and strengthening your achilles tendon, ankles, and calves...use before and after you run. A lot of running injuries can be avoided by strengthening the achilles and ankles.

| Calves are sore along shin bone from running. Posted: 8/21/2008 10:23:48 AM | | Do you have low arches? If so, you might want to invest in a nice pair of motion control running shoes. If you tend to turn your foot inward (over pronate), this will strain your shins. A pair of motion control shoes can correct that problem and take the brunt of the stress off your shins. | |

Posted: 8/22/2008 6:41:30 AM | | oops a shoe built on a curve last is better for someone who rolls out. a shoe built on a strait last, is better for a person who rolls in and has low arches ( pronates). generally speaking, a person who rolls out, tends to "toe off" . they are the type that usually has problems with their shins or "shin splints".

| Calves are sore along shin bone from running. Posted: 8/22/2008 6:46:03 AM | motion control running shoes? if you have low arches, why not get a pair of shoes that support your arches correctly? if you tend to over pronate, a shoe built on a straight last will help you. how can your foot rolling or over pronating, hurt your shins or the muscles? look into a good pair of new balance shoes, they come in both sizes and widths. Plus they are built on 2 different lasts ( foot types) that can support your arches correctly.
low arches or falling arches usually doesn't affect your muscles running along the shin or calf......
