| HOT STOVE WARMING UP! Posted: 12/7/2005 6:50:34 AM | Brazelton a headache? more a head case. He has some good stuff, just doesn't know how to use it. Burroughs could be a good trade. A change in scenery will do him good. Dodgers hire Grady Little??? | |
| HOT STOVE WARMING UP! Posted: 12/7/2005 1:50:43 PM | | Haaa, Grady Little. He gets rode on Soo Much for the Pedro incident, hell never live that up especially if he fails w/ the Dodgers. I heard a trade of Renteria going to the Braves, Braves trade 3B Andy Marte to DRays, DRays trade SS Julio Lugo to the Sox. I think Renteria's 30 error season drove his stock down but I didnt think to Lugo level. I think theSox are trying to shed his $30 mill payroll. Also, I heard the 3 way deal between the Sox, Angels, DBacks, fell through. Now they are talking to the Rangers to see if they will give up Soriano and Hammerin Hank Balalock for Manny. | |
| HOT STOVE WARMING UP! Posted: 12/9/2005 7:02:16 AM | Soriano to the Nationals to play left field. Overbay to the Blue Jays. NICE. Look out Mr. Steinbrenner, here come the Jays. | |
| HOT STOVE WARMING UP! Posted: 12/9/2005 7:10:53 AM | Apparently the Red Sox will be happy with 3B Marte (an up and comer), and not deal for Lugo---who is better than people give him credit for--tough guy. Hey BoSox fans---is it scary that Nomar is out there?
Hoping the Rays are able to make some positive deals---we have good hitting, lots and lots of speed. We need to improve our defense, and we really need a front-end starter or two. I still think Dontrelle Willis would look good in a Rays jersey. with Kazmir (thanks Mets) as the number 2. But, we still need arms.
| HOT STOVE WARMING UP! Posted: 12/9/2005 9:33:55 PM | | I think the Red Sox might be interested in SS Alex Gonzalez but there is also talk of Miguel Tejada wanting to play in Boston. I doubt that will happen. 3B Andy Marte is going to be a great ball player. I think he is in the top 5 rated minor leaguers and has power w/ defensive skill. I heard they might try to use him in the OF this yr to get him some at bats. | |

| HOT STOVE WARMING UP! Posted: 12/10/2005 4:03:30 AM | | We traded Soriano for an outfielder???? What happened to the "WE NEED STARTING PITCHING" rhetoric the Rangers have been giving us? *Head still lowered, still kicking ground in front of me* Stupid Rangers....... | |
| HOT STOVE WARMING UP! Posted: 12/11/2005 10:29:48 AM | We trade a headache (brazelton) for a 3B (burroughs). I did a snoopy dance after reading that........this is the closest I can do.....
I am usually not gung-ho over players leaving, but I was glad to be rid of that Prima Donna!
What happened to the "WE NEED STARTING PITCHING" rhetoric the Rangers have been giving us? Long, many teams do that and it ticks me off. Even a half-baked fan knows the weak spot(s) in their team yet the wheelers and dealers stock up on positions already deep. BTW, what movie are we going to quote this time to drive everyone else crazy?
| HOT STOVE WARMING UP! Posted: 12/12/2005 7:59:31 AM | | blond--agreed--Brazelton is a prima donna, and I don't think he'll ever meet his potential. Like always, the Rays need starting pitching. I would love to see us work a deal to get Dontrelle Willis from the Marlin firesale---nice one-two--Willis and Kazmir. | |
| HOT STOVE WARMING UP! Posted: 12/12/2005 10:48:18 AM | Blond, I hear the same stuff every year from the Rangers front office...."We made a comparable offer to the pitcher, they just decided to go somewhere else." Yeah, somewhere else is a place that won't give up a thousand home runs, like Ameriquest Field. This sucks. The only way good pitching is going to come here is by trade, but we can't seem to get past the outfielders. AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!
Okay, I feel better now. So, how about we quote "Major League" this time around?
"Hats for bats.....keep bats warm.....gracias!!"

| HOT STOVE WARMING UP! Posted: 12/12/2005 1:55:50 PM | | It could be worse, you could live in Colorado, and thus have whiplash. | |

| HOT STOVE WARMING UP! Posted: 12/13/2005 6:41:18 AM | | Mdelong - Rangers get Vincente Padilla from Phillies for a player to be named later. This guy has great stuff. Came back from shoulder problem last year and finished strong. Maybe you have a catcher that you could send to Philly? | |
| HOT STOVE WARMING UP! Posted: 12/13/2005 6:42:57 AM | | ^^^Yes they do. Makes for a lot of high scoring losses........good games, but they continue to lose because of lack of quality starting pitching. Finally got some defense to go with the offense, getting rid of Soriano helped the defense, hurt the offense. We just traded for Padilla from Philly, he might be a decent 4th starter....still need a number 1 starter....I want Millwood or Washburn.....bet it doesn't happen though.. | |
| HOT STOVE WARMING UP! Posted: 12/13/2005 6:44:36 AM | | We can send them Gerald Laird.....will be a good catcher, if he is given some time in the show and can stay healthy. Good bat, decent defender.....word around here is the player to be named later will probably be Ricardo Rodriquez, a good up and coming pitcher. Hate to see him go. Would liked to have kept him with Padilla.... | |
| HOT STOVE WARMING UP! Posted: 12/14/2005 6:47:07 AM | The Orioles signed Ramon Hernandez, where does that leave Javy Lopez? Will they alternate as catcher and DH? Javy would look good in a Phillies Uniform. How about the Yankees looking at Nomar to play first base?
Mdelong, there's your boy. Sign Nomar to play second base.
| HOT STOVE WARMING UP! Posted: 12/14/2005 7:20:44 AM | | Not a bad idea....good bat when healthy, can still play the field when healthy...see a theme here??? It would probably be a good idea, can get him cheap.....and I love Mia Hamm.... | |
| HOT STOVE WARMING UP! Posted: 12/14/2005 7:26:20 AM | | Isn't that Mia GARCIAPARRA? Yes, when healthy, Nomar would be a good addition to any lineup. Just get him a pair of shoes that are two sizes to big. | |

blond--agreed--Brazelton is a prima donna, and I don't think he'll ever meet his potential. I wouldn't go that far, he has good stuff. I just don't think he should be in our clubhouse after the stunt he pulled, sets a bad example. A fresh start with a new team could be good for both of them and us, as well. There seems to always be ex-Rays helping someone else out in the play-offs like Backe for instance.
Like always, the Rays need starting pitching. I would love to see us work a deal to get Dontrelle Willis from the Marlin firesale---nice one-two--Willis and Kazmir. I could live with that, but I don't see the Rays doing any big deals this season I think we're at least one or two off-seasons away from any major acquisitions, though I sure wouldn't mind being WRONG!
The only way good pitching is going to come here is by trade, but we can't seem to get past the outfielders. I hear ya Long, we go through the same thing each off season. "Willie Mays Hayes. I hit like Mays, and I run like Hayes."
"You may run like Hayes. but you hit like sh**."
| HOT STOVE WARMING UP! Posted: 12/18/2005 4:17:16 AM | Florida won't get rid of Willis. Him and Cabrera will be the backbone of that team now. Oh well, we are going to miss out on Washburn, Millwood's agent (the Baseball AntiChrist Scott Boras) wants a long term deal for him even though every doctor out there says his arm will be mush after 2 years, and Weaver will probably resign with the Dodgers.
*Still has head down kicking at dirt* Stupid Rangers......(sigh)......
"So, you got a name, or you gonna stick with Veg Head?"
Good times, good times.....
| HOT STOVE WARMING UP! Posted: 12/21/2005 4:03:44 AM | Um, someone help me out here. We need good young starting pitching....and we traded for it in getting Adam Eaton....but we gave up a good young pitcher in Chris Young....everybody see where I'm going with this??? GGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*STILL has head down kicking dirt* Stupid Rangers.........
| HOT STOVE WARMING UP! Posted: 12/27/2005 6:10:44 AM | | Hey, you got um.... Millwood. If he's good, why would Philly and Cleveland both let him go. (hehehe) | |
| HOT STOVE WARMING UP! Posted: 12/30/2005 2:57:04 PM | | ERA under 3.00 for the year, led the AL in ERA....no run support at all, which is why he went 9-11 for the year...has had some arm trouble, but should be okay...by God, the Rangers did something right, maybe........ | |
| HOT STOVE WARMING UP! Posted: 1/1/2006 8:48:29 AM | Long, I feel your pain. The Rays are still talking trades for prospects. PROSPECTS? We don't need no stinking prospects, we need a proven starter and a beefed up bull pen but the Rays are talking about trading our best hitter leaving Gomes (our rookie big bat) to fend for himself in the lineup. OK, so not the best SS in the league but certainly the best the Rays have had and also our closer, they already shipped off our best bullpen pitcher. Of course I am only assuming Gomes will be the only big bat since there has been no talk of obtaining another proven hitter in return from any of the rumored trades just more prospects for the minors. There is talk of a big 4 way trade, but I expect all the Rays will get is a prospect, nothing that will help in the very near future. BTW, congratulations on Millwood. "Better teach this kid some control before he kills somebody." | |
| HOT STOVE WARMING UP! Posted: 1/2/2006 10:45:35 AM | Well thanks Blonde, it's about time the Rangers done something right....and yet somehow, I feel this will blow up in their face.....can you say Chan Ho Park? I just hope Millwood's arm can hold up for at least 3 years of this contract...
"Are you saying Jesus Christ can't hit a curveball??"
